Rooms are large enough and very clean. The room was cleaned daily. Linen and towels were changed on the fourth day. The balcony is large.
Breakfast is ok, not much diversity though. In September, the pool area didn't seem very popular.
Very polite and helpful staff.
It's best if you have a car to travel around. The hotel is situated on the hill, in Violi Charaki, in the outskirts of Rethymno. The trip on foot to/from the old town of takes about one hour. As a compensation is the stunning view from the road.

We were a little nervous about the hotel at first because we had read a lot of negative things on the internet. But we were pleasantly surprised. Good food, good service. We became friends with the bartender, got lots of good tips. A bit of a minus for us were the sunbeds which had no cushions or mattress. And it said on the website that the hotel offers a free shuttle bus, it didn't. Otherwise, we were very satisfied🙏🥰 supermarket outside, pharmacy, only 7 minutes to the centre, with lots of restaurants. Pleasant receptionist Alex with lots of good tips and information

The room was crap. The basket in the bathroom is broken (the lid)
On the wall on the bed next to a killed mosquito with blood on the wall. The balcony is dirty. Room 325
I will not say about the coffee that very bad. We return to the hotel at 1 in the night and there is NO ONE at the reception and the front door is closed. Found a gentleman and said the door to enter the hotel is from the back. And the code is written on the paper of the room card. It's a good thing that the man was there, otherwise we would have been looking to see how we could get in.

Response from Arkadiusz Waclawek, Guest Services / Front Office at Pantheon Hotel

Hello, we're very sorry you felt the need to lie in your review, alongside your friend 317lidac (who actually found our rooms very clean and in order contrary to yourself) and others from your group attempting to ruin our hotel's reputation anywhere you can write with no consequence, just because we didn't cave to your blackmail to receive free/low cost services against our prior written agreements and ignore our (or any) hotel's policies regarding food and drinks from other sources. 3 star hotels are not obliged to have a 24 hour reception service, though there's always staff on site making sure everything is in order, so perhaps this random man you mention was there by a miracle to let you know about the back door right when you returned was a staff member and not a guardian angel that knew you would have problems with that. We as always made sure to inform your whole group upon arrival about the back door's code needed after 23:00pm but even on the occasion you forgot, got too drunk, or there was any other issue, there are signs with phone numbers to call right on the entrance, so a staff member would be there in seconds to resolve any issues and help you with any problems. We're not quite sure what you found wrong with our coffee, either from our standard for a hotel of this category breakfast coffee machine, or from our bar for later hours where we grind high quality coffee beans on the spot to make it fresh for our guests, but there's no accounting for one's taste, good or bad, so there's not much to say, than that most guests enjoy it. Still, these minor issues you mention surely aren't enough to a) ignore our polite and friendly staff that checked you in and was available for all our needs before you went out for the night, b) ignore our almost hour-late serving of breakfast just for your group of friends because, before knowing you'd be holding so much against us and try to take advantage of our good will, we understood that many wouldn't wake up early after the wedding's celebrations the previous night and adjusted our offerings according to your needs. These are just a few of the ways we always go the extra mile to please our guests. Yet here you are with half a night's stay to say our hotel is only worth 1 star? Please rethink your pointlessly vengeful behaviour, for the sake of the people around you.

Travelling as a couple, myself and my husband decided to revisit Crete for a second year. We researched the surrounding area and decided upon Rethymnon for its stunning old town. When looking for a hotel we opt for All Inclusive deals to offer us the best return for our holiday spending money and of course time saved shopping, cooking and cleaning. For the past couple of years we have taken the policy of choosing a less expensive hotel. Our philosophy behind this decision is that when we’ve paid for a 5 star hotel our expectations are always higher because we feel we’ve paid a lot, so to avoid the disappointment the less we pay the less we expect and we aren’t left disappointed! We also have more spending money by saving on the hotel so we can go out to eat or buy non-inclusive alcoholic drinks if we want.
Having read the reviews I overlooked the comments about the All Inclusive drinks offer and timings as they were clearly indicated in the description of the holiday and we were fine with the local beer, red or white wine, brandy or raki along with various soft drinks and coffee. Cocktails were offered for 3.5 Euros and other spirits were also sold. We also looked past the comments about the entertainment, as everyone has differing views, it was just nice to have the option. We read the hotels own website as it is quite informative and written in English with photo’s showing the rooms, pool and restaurant, this gave us the confidence to go ahead and book the holiday.
We arrived late in the evening and were pleasantly surprised by the look of the hotel as we approached, it was well lit, clean and well maintained. We were welcomed by the friendly, smiling receptionist who spoke excellent English. Our double room was on the first floor overlooking the sea and mountains, which you could glimpse through the trees from the balcony. The room was furnished in a contemporary style with lots of soft and bright lighting, modern fittings, mini fridge and colour co-ordinated décor, well equipped for our 2 week stay. The shower room was immaculate with a good sized walk-in shower, a modern loo and basin plus a built in hair dryer.
The buffet style restaurant provided a good variety of choice based on a 14 day food rota and was very tasty. There was a selection of hot choices at each meal time along with a salad bar and dessert area, so always something for any appetite. We were always greeted by Jacquie and the evening team with the biggest smiles and helpful service.
Considering we went during the busiest season, we didn’t have to fight for a sunbed. The pool area was clean and offered opportunities for sun lovers and people wanting shade. The swim up pool supplied all the All-Inclusive drinks, including coffee. Ice cream was available from 12pm until 6pm.
There is a free shuttle service down to the town several times a day which needs to be booked in advance. You can get to the main bus station from there for travelling further afield. The reception team are also very helpful in suggesting and organising trips. The cost of a taxi in Rethymnon back to the hotel if you want to stay out later than the last shuttle service was 8 Euros.
We normally visit different destinations each year, but because the hotel was superb, the team were fantastic and the area outstanding, we are going again in 2015 and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Overall, I think the attention to detail that the Pantheon pay in all aspects of cleanliness, food and the holiday experience is what makes the difference. The hotel takes Trip Advisor comments on board and we found that some older remarks had been addressed, including the loo rolls and towel/linen changes. Having previously stayed at another 3 star hotel, the Pantheon deserved a far better rating.

Just got back from the Pantheon on 16/7/13 and had a great time. Met at reception at 23-45 by Stavros a really nice man given a cold buffet in dining room then shown to our rooms, wow what beautiful rooms they were. Very modern well equipped rooms with safes and aircon. We went all inclusive and food, drink very good. Bus to beach starts running from 9-30 in morning (in high season) with last bus back at 20-30 & is free. Pool area very good & here is my only gripe the beds are really uncomfortable but double up on your towels and you should be ok. Rethymon itself is really nice with the old town very nice beach & lovely places to eat. Don't be put off by the bad reviews I really don't know what people expect when they go abroad & eat different food etc. All in all a very good holiday with many thanks to the wonderful staff.

Went here with friends who have also written a veview.. It was terrible that you had to laugh or you would probably cry.. AVOID HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE..
Only good thing was the bus..but like ppl said it was only so you weren't there to drink or eat..
Not ready for all incl and I would never pay for that crap...
Room was the best bit but then that's the place you spend the least time.. Staff were unbelievably rude too..very up and down with you.. I felt like the whole time we were there we were an inconvenience rather then a guest... Pool was ok once the grass got cut the day we left.. And the day we left no.one approached us about our departure..they just locked our room with all our stuff in..joke..others then that I had a great time at the beach away from the hotel.. ;0) Crete is beautiful

We visited this hotel in August 2013 with an open mind having read some of the reviews but it was a great holiday. The staff were amazing, all very helpful and willing to have a laugh and a joke with you. Food is great, even if you're a fussy eater, there is something for you. Barbeques a few times while we were there were lovely also. All inclusive was good and included 'cocktail hour' in the afternoon which were lovely, they even made non alcoholic ones for children on request for a little girl we'd met who felt left out. The rooms were great, decent size, cleaned daily and a TV with a few English channels for what little time was spent in the rooms. We met an amazing group of people out there who made a great holiday even better, we are still in touch now and are off to Corfu this summer. Location wasn't great but there is a lovely little bar, supermarket and pharmacy just up the road in case you need anything and the hotel has a free minibus service down to the town and beech many times a day and taxi's aren't that much either.
Overall great value for money and a great holiday was had by all of us.

I have never felt it necessary to write a review before but I would not want anyone else to waste their money. We had read some of the reviews before we stayed at the hotel, but we thought that they were written by people who just like to moan about everything. TRUST ME BELIVE EVERY TERRIBLE REVIEW ABOUT THIS HOTEL. We didn't have a room when we arrived so had to sleep on a sunbed around the pool for at least 6 hours. We were only given a glass of water. The staff were VERY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. The food was DIABOLICAL the hot food was cold and the cold food was hot. The beer was watered down and although it was all inclusive the management insisted on counting how many drinks you had. NO VODKA. Everyone had to go to bed at 11pm as the bar was closed and the lights were turned off. If you do stay there dont bother going all inclusive as you will either starve, die of thirst, or have to take extra spending money to eat and drink plus the added expense of having to get a taxi to the town as it is miles away and the roads are so dangerous its not really safe to walk. The entertainment was limited THE DISCO WAS A CASSETTE PLAYING AND THE STAFF KEPT TURNING THE VOLUME DOWN. All i can say is go there if you want to lose some weight and get some early nights.

It is in Atsipopoulo, close to the old town, you need a car or you can take the bus from the hotel, the hotelrooms are ok but the food is not good, the drinks of the all in are very poor, and it is not that we drink that much, in the area from the hotel is nothing, no taverne and only 1 little supermarket, and if you go by foot it is a haevy climb grtz
кондиционер бесплатный, центральный, его установки регулируются в номере, но нужно учитывать, что включается только при закрытых окнах, чудо экономии))))
