Loutro is a small bay in southern Crete only accessible by ferry. There are no roads and no cars. The bay is surrounded by tavernas and small guest houses and has 2 small beaches surrounded by steep mountains. Clear blue water and a fantastic back drop. It's the perfect getaway from your typical all inclusive holiday. Fantastic food and no... More

A mini Santorini for the family and us adults. By the Libyan sea, mountains and caves within reach. Stone beach and salty sea. Cafeterias and kiosks/ bars within 1 minut walk. Boat-trips to sandy beaches. Have a good one. Staying over night? Call them before the latest boat leaves Sfakia.

Went to Loutro intending to spend the day but the minute the bay came into view I fell in love! We stopped at Maria's shop to enquire about room availability and were lucky to get a room on the second floor! Fabulous view from the large verandha kitted with sunbeds. The room was comfortable and very clean ... absolutely peaceful... More

Serene, tranquil little crescent of hotels, restaurants, shops and beach area. That sums up this village tucked up to the mountains. There are no cars, taxi's, trucks, buses or scooters. Loutro can only be reached by water taxi's, or ferry's large enough to carry vendor supplies. Note: The beach is all rocks and pebbles, no sand. It would be highly... More

Not much more to say than in my 2 previous reviews but had another enjoyable 9 nights in Maria's rooms. Top floor this time, with good views over the bay. Had a mosquitto problem this time but that's no reflection on Loutro Bay & there was a plug in mosquito repeller in the room. Apparently Maria told us there had... More

Possibly the finest views in Loutro are to be found on the top floor of Loutro Bay. From the spacious terraces opening out from the guest bedrooms you can sit for hours looking out over the water and watching the ever changing view. The rooms benefit from being centrally located above Maria's boutique and gift shop, rather than over a... More

Just off the ferry,we asked Maria if we could view the room. She opened the door and stood aside, the view from the open patio doors leading onto terrace was world class. "We'll have it "we said in unison. What a sales pitch. Just booked another stay this morning.

Maria is the ultimate hostess and has gone above and beyond to accommodate us every year. This has been the 4 th time we stay at Loutro Bay. The rooms are clean , spacious with large balconies overlooking the Libyan sea. We forgot our beach towels this year and asked Maria after arriving if she sells any beach towels at... More

After our last visit in 2013 we decided to return this year. We found Loutro Bay to be just as good as before (in fact we even had the same room without specially requesting it). The welcome from Maria was just as warm & we soon settled into our "Loutro" routine. I haven' t really much to add since my... More
