Good location by the lake, comfortable big room, nice personel, lousy breakfest - two types of cheese, some bread and cold coffe. Looks like a great place for vacation and sport. I would certainly come back for a family vacation.

This hotel looks almost boring from the entrance, but from the rear is the most magical place. Set on the fjord, it has delightful grounds and a snug terrace to view it all from. There is a jetty llt at night, with a gazebo - wonderful rhodedendron flowers in the garden if visiting spring/summer and water facilities for boaties and...

This is not a brand new hotel but offered us a good one night accomodation during our Scandinavian tour. At the time we visited, there were not so many guests, so it was very peaceful and relaxing stay. In the evening, it was great to have a walk outside by the lake and feel the silence. Also, it was nice...

Both the hotel inventory and the À la carte menu is outdated. The hotel is very nicely located, with a great view and friendly staff. Unfortunately everything could need a refurbish. The bed was totally okay. The à la carte menu consisted of four! dishes, all of them prices at around 300 NOK.

I spent a week here as part of a large group of people. The people are friendly and hospitable, the room nice, comfortable, clean and with a wonderful view of the lakeside. Throughout there are interesting artefacts and antiques relating to the local culture which make things a bit interesting and quaint. There is access to the beautiful Byglandsfjord with...

First week of august must be already low season in Norway. Only a few rooms were occupied, and the same goes for the tables at the restaurant. This has often an impact on the quality of a stay in a hotel, both ways. Indeed, nights were quiet and we enjoyed it. The impression at the restaurant, however, both for breakfast...

When waiting at the ferry at Hirtshals (DK), the reception called to check if I wanted dinner, to give driving instructions and to see if there were any open questions. Guess this is possible in low-season only. I seemed to have been the only guest that night, only obvious by the car park and the breakfast room/restaurant being empty -...

If you want to stay in Setesdal, you couldn't pick a better place than Byglandsjord. The location is great because it is just outside the town of Evje which is the largest village in the valley. The hotel is extremely well run with Andreas, the owner, a welcoming and cheerful chap. A family hotel, relaxed and right on the water....
