We stayed on a weekend in September in the Farmhouse (sleeps 6) and the Rondawel (sleeps 4) which is about a two minute walk from each other. The accommodation is beautifully tucked away in the mountains, with no cellular reception. We enjoyed the hiking trail and the walk along the stream, accompanied by the gorgeous two dogs of the owners... More

When we arrived at the Porcupine Hills' reception (after driving on what seemed to be a never-ending gravel road), Porcupine Hills' cabins are beautiful rustic self-catering accommodations. The views and immediate areas are prestine and exquisite. We'd definitely recommend you visit. A getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle as there is little to no cellular coverage.

What a delightful surprise - several cottages tucked away in tranquil surroundings. The only sounds being a babbling river, birdsong and the rustle of autumn leaves. Well equipped and tastefully decorated accommodation. Very comfortable bed & bedding.

What a exquisite little gem tucked away in the mountains. An excellent "base camp" to explore the region but far from Basic ! If you love Black Eagles (Verraux Eagle) then its a MUST ! Thanks Cha and Tony !!!

This is an olive farm with guest cottages all around it. Out in the country, hence tranquility and insects that go with country living. Rooms not well maintained and service of rooms poor. Cottages expensive. Not good value for money. Hospitality factor very poor. 4 star cost without 4 star service

What a surprisingly lovely family weekend! Beautiful authentic farm surroundings, it was true tranquility. The bedding was divine, the shower was large and the bathroom was kept pristine. Our kitchen was quint with a real farmhouse feel, it had a cosy fireplace with all utensils a small household would use on a daily basis. The outdoor braai area with semi... More

We have just spent four nights at the Farmhouse at Porcupine Hills. The setting is lovely and peaceful, and the house has a great private pool. However the house was neither clean, nor well maintained, with many things in need of repair. There was no information provided on the farm, nor any maps available of walks or bike trails. Certainly... More

When visiting the open gardens in the area we stayed at Porcupine Hills in the River Cottages. What a wonderful find. Very comfortable rustic cottages tucked away in a valley, surrounded by trees, mountains and bird life. The only noise was the river and the birds. Everything we could have wanted, very comfortable beds with white linen and mosquito nets,... More

This is not a hotel, its a farm with several different chalets away from each other. If you want to experience the real South African farm feeling and a getaway from the main highways, this is the place! Its about 25 kilometers from Bot River, or Villiers Dorp on a farm road. A real South African style farmhouse. We had... More

This farm is just the most wonderful place to stay - the walks are beautiful, it is unbelievably relaxing with lots of places to lounge around and take a dip on a hot day! I have stayed in the Eyrie and the Rondawel - both different but lovely spaces. Just an all-in-all magical experience if you are looking for slowing... More
