I had a lovely stay in this family run hotel. Extremely Comfortable room in a quiet location where you feel very close to cloud forest. It's not somewhere to go for a beach holiday but is well located for hikes. If driving it's not too...More
Number 22, as per one of the previous reviews, is very pleasant and spacious with a lovely view of the stars when it's not cloudy! Douglas, Virginia and team were very welcoming, including two free lifts which was over and above what one would expect....More
Visited in March 2017 for one night as we were travelling around the island to escape from a large chain hotel in the south. It proved to be an interesting experience. On arrival, the Dutch receptionist was excellent, although we were a little taken aback...More
True: at first sight, the hotel is bit outdated. Paint is a bit scruffy, the pool has seen better days. But, at a second look you see a very welcoming, staff, that speaks very good English and wishes to pamper you. Really nice prices, a...More
La Palma Romantica Hotel is without a doubt our favourite hotel. We have now visited 5 times at various times of the year. It is placed in a well wooded ravine which has a fine view of the sea and the mountains behind.

I am writing having read a 2014 review by you of the hotel. I appreciate this is a while ago, but the question I have will still be valid I think! We are thinking of staying at the hotel for a few nights next week and I wondered if there are nice walks that can be done straight from the hotel..... Or do we definitely need a car to get us to the start of some decent walks? Many thanks!

All depends what a decent walk is in your opinion. Since I am not exactly a passionate hiker - which is in part to blame on my job (gardener!) - was not really tempted to explore the surrounding countryside much, but there are certainly challenging ones. Matter of fact, an abundance of them. So no matter where you would choose to go you wont be disappointed. Guaranteed.
And as a previous guest has rightly stated, Douglas the manager is a treasure trove when it comes to getting infos concerning all kinds of topics.
So enjoy, it will be worth it
