We stayed in this small hotel for two nights
The site is nice and the welcome is very good, the restaurant has a really good cook who offers quality dishes, however a few details in the room surprised us!!
Super dangerous ladder to access the duplex bedroom, and no light (except main lighting)
The most negative point (but not the least in our eyes) is the price of breakfast (16€) a price very far from the content offered. It would be urgent for the owners to travel and compare with the large hotels which offer a price inferior with real content!!! What a pity

This is a charming address located at the very end of a bumpy road on south-east coast of Martinique.

Actually this is not really a hotel, but a "home" where Mrs de Lucy personnally greets you every morning, does her best to run this 10 room unit, and makes suggestions for you to discover this island.

Rooms are rather large with old pieces of furniture, those on the upper floor having a nice view over the ocean and the nearby isles. However sound insulation is not always perfect...

Breakfast and dinners on the terrace were very nice moments.
Breakfast choice may be a bit limited, but dinner quality and service were fine.

My husband and I spent three nights at the Fregate Bleue at the end of a two week trip to Martinique and Guadeloupe, so we wanted to relax for a few days before travelling home.

We stayed in Amanda which we think is classified a suite - but all the rooms are slightly different. This one was large with some old furniture (bed, desk, chest, and wardrobe) but no easy chairs. There is a mezzanine with two single beds which was very bare - not sure it would be much fun sleeping up there even for kids. Good quality bed and bed linen. Bathroom OK (but why just shower gel sachets and nothing else?). The kitchenette very basic and a bit tired, but adequate for simple food preparation. Everything was very clean.

On paper we thought it was expensive for the room but we found on this trip that all the accommodation on the islands was relatively expensive - and you do seem to pay a lot extra when you have a bit more space and a sea view. On both counts, we felt this was worth the extra and it was a joy to be able to sleep and enjoy the sea breeze with the window open and not worry about security.

The balcony has a fabulous view and has loungers as well as table and chairs. It was a charming place to sit and drink a beer, have a chat or just snooze and had it enjoyed the sun for a greater part of the day. We had breakfast and only one evening meal at the hotel while we were there. We had looked forward to the dinner but it was actually the least good meal we had on our holiday so our experience was a bit different from others. But if you have had a long day it was great not to have to dress up and get in the car to go eat.

Madame and the staff were very helpful and we found we only had to ask for something for it to be supplied or corrected - a saucepan for example, a salad bowl, and the fact our fan wasn't working. Madame Lucy explained she had had to be absent in France on and off for the last few months and that she was working hard to catch up on maintenance and organisation. She was very helpful with information about where to go, what to do, how long things took etc which meant we were able to make the best use of our time there. We didn't particularly miss beaches as we'd seen a lot of sand over the previous two weeks so we enjoyed the quiet of the swimming pool at the hotel. And we were able to do a late checkout for no charge on our last day which was fantastic. I would say the hotel strikes a nice balance between a luxury/comfort and relaxation without formality.

I would agree with everyone else - you do need a car to make the most of a stay here. But the location is really fantastic as a base to tour Martinique because it is central and beyond the worst of the traffic holdups around Fort de France. Only 30 minutes from the airport too.

We would recommend Salines for the beach (about 45 minutes and wonderful swimming) and Habitation Clement for a visit. Nothing much in Francois, but lots of nice bars and restaurants to try up in the hills. Definitely recommended.

Room with a window overlooking the parking lot so suffice to say that the cars are right under your nose. Curtain drawn permanently
Very dilapidated. Poor breakfast because everything is thawed except a small fresh fruit salad.
I tried a dinner. A metropolitan restaurant menu.
Travel 7000 km for guinea fowl or veal!
Excessive price like everywhere
I wonder why metropolitans go to the West Indies.
Go to Thailand where the service is better, the quality of the services also research the decoration and prices at least 50% lower

Hotel located in a pleasant environment. Comfortable rooms with several configurations to accommodate parents and children. So perfectly suited for a large family group. Staff with little care and especially the chef. In short a very successful week.

The view from the room and terrace on the 3 islands is breathtaking. The room super comfortable, beautiful and huge, hearty and delicious breakfast. Delicate welcome of Camille and Carole. We're gonna test the restaurant tonight, which looks promising.
A must for a dream and peaceful holiday

Just returned from Martinique for a conference and just loved it. Food was great, the roads are phenomenal for the Caribbean, and the people friendly...I speak fluent French but my partner does not and he found the people to be just as friendly.

We spent 5 nights at the Fregate Bleue and it was the perfect place to relax...the owners are welcoming and extremely kind. The views from the rooms are impressive. Highly recommend!

There seems to be a formula for Martinique hotels which combines the concept of a self-catering holiday with that of a normal hotel providing room service and meals at extra cost. I myself have run such establishments of my own during the last ten years. Prior to coming to Frégate Bleue my partner and I had experienced two different places, the second one of which had been very satisfactory. We were expecting Frégate Bleue to be superior in comfort and amenities as the cost was going to be far more.

But we were horribly disappointed. The managers of this hotel are a young French couple who have only just taken it on. Together with their staff you could not meet a nicer set of people who are friendly and helpful but they have inherited a poisoned chalice which requires an enormous investment of work and money to bring it up to an acceptable standard of repair, decoration and cleanliness, as well as an awareness on their part of what is wrong. We stayed in two of the units and both were tragically inadequate. I noted 19 shortcomings in the first room (No. 104) and 10 in the second (No. 103). Some of these were discussed with Damien, the manager, but few could be righted on the spot with the exception of simple matters such as the ill prepared equipment for the kitchenette for which we had to request many basic items such as glasses, plates and dishcloths. Rm 104 has a four-ring hob but had only one saucepan; Rm 103, by contrast, has a one-ring cooker with four saucepans!

The far more important issues are the very old, damaged floor tiles; the very crudely built wooden terrace structures, some of which are rotten or collapsing, even with weeds growing out of the woodwork; the kitchenette in Rm, 103 which is a primitive wooden box with a door which will not stay open (whereas Rm 104 has a wardrobe with a door which won't stay shut); the bathroom with no power points, no shower light and almost no shelves (I had to shave in the kitchenette where there was a power point but no mirror); the other bathroom with no shower curtain and a WC which rocks on its base; the sink with no overflow pipe connection (so the overflow goes on the floor); several bare bulbs on the end of a flex; a strip of unpainted cement on one wall where a new cable had been chased in; and so on. We also got a brief visit by a rat on the terrace one night. One other thing: all the partitions are extremely thin and you can listen to your neighbours' conversations in the morning when they get up before you do when you are still trying to sleep. Doors slammed at this time feel like an earthquake.

We could have put up with this and pretended to be Boy Scouts and enjoyed the good features of the establishment if the price had justified it. But in fact the cost was double - yes, DOUBLE - what we had paid during the previous week for a vastly superior place with a magnificent pool, immaculate grounds and equivalent or better outlook. I felt cheated on the price and told Damien that I expected a rebate. This has not been offered.

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate our hotel, The hotel dates back 95 years , under new management , is constantly improving . Half of the rooms have been completely repainted and refurbished (furniture , electricity , bedding .. ). we inform you that your comments about the rooms 104 and 103 have been taken into account and noted in our technical book and we are sorry for not being able to meet all your expectations during this day. I understand during our conversation that you prefer the big hotels all included 300 rooms with a large picine and children who cry 80€ rate in B & B, unlike our hotel has 126 € the night or even you where discontent, stayed a week at the edge of the pool as if it were your own, and it is precisely the feeling that we want to give to our customers. Regards, THE DIRECTION
