A gem of a B&B located a few miles outside of Keld. Gary, our host, gave us a ride from Keld to the farm. The accommodation is a very comfortable top half of a converted barn in a lovely setting overlooking the dale and fells. Cath, our hostess, had made a beef chili for our dinner and trifle for dessert.... More

After a long day walking the Pennine Way we were pleased to see Cath at our pick up point. Little Birkdale is a renovated farmhouse in open countryside and we were staying in a first floor apartment which was warm and cosy. Our evening meal and all the supplies for our breakfast were already in the fridge. Cath was very... More

Gary picked us up from The Lodge in Keld and drove us in the Landcover to the farm where we were greeted by Kath . Our apartment was gorgeous , warm and cosy , the bath very welcome , and the bed a dream. Kath left us our dinner in the fridge to warm up at our leisure , an... More

It was a last minute call to stay at Birkdale Farm, but what a great find. From being picked up at Keld Lodge to the time we left the following day, our stay could not have been made more comfortable and easy. After trekking the Coast to Coast route past Nine Standards Rigg, we needed somewhere to dry off, clean... More

Couldn't have asked for a better half way stop during our coast to coast walk... Cath and Gary are lovely, so welcoming! Really cosy, beautifully decorated place, fire on ready for us, Chilli in the fridge ready to heat up, plenty of beers and wine available, and a very welcome bath to soak our weary limbs! We didn't want to... More

While walking the Coast 2 Coast in UK, we stayed Birkdale Farm. We were collected by owner Gary at a designated location and drove approx. 5km to the farm. 4WD only driveway but well worth the adventure! The farmhouse is located on the side of a hill, fantastic views across the valley. Our little cottage was the lower section of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our restful overnight stay at Birkdale Farm. After a day of walking on the C2C Walk we relaxed in front of the cosy fire and enjoyed the seclusion of our own space and heating up a delicious meal in our own time, enjoying a beer while Gary took care of some wet boots. The view from the... More

What more can you ask for when you arrive to warm and friendly hosts, such charming clean comfortable accommodation. Absolutely gorgeous chilli in the fridge already prepared for you , everything for your breakfast. This was our last stop on the coast to coast walk so we could indulge in the wine and beer , which we drank outside in... More

Cathy and Gary couldn't have been more welcoming. Gary picked us up from Keld and it felt like a real adventure sitting in the back of the Land Rover getting to this remote and gorgeous valley. We had the absolutely charming upstairs self-catering apartment with bedroom, bathroom and a lovely lounge/kitchen. Think Heidi's converted high pasture shepherd's hut, being enthusiastically... We stayed here for one night during the first week of July when we were completing the Pennine Way, and I'm very glad we chose this option. The accommodation is beautiful in a converted barn but with all comforts you would want, plus a new family of white ducks living outside. Although not in Keld were we had walked to,... More

“Warning! don't add too many logs to the wood burner, it kicks out serious heat. We put one extra on after we arrived and we had to open the door to let some air in.”
