I chose this lodge because I wanted to take photographs of birds, and whilst I am not a dedicated bird watcher, I was keen I was no match for the other guests, equipment often blocks the viewing area in the restaurant, and the unsupressed enthusiastic cries of the audience seemed to defeat the object. The service in the restaurant was...

Hotel Cerro Cerro is a small Hotel/Ecolodge in a quiet wooded area away from the noise of the highway. The combination reception and restaurant building offers great views of the forest as well as the ocean and Nicoya Peninsula in the distance. There are numerous bird feeders adjacent to the restaurant which are regularly replenished with fruit. The many colourful...

When we were researching places to stay for our Costa Rica trip, there seemed to be limited choice in the vicinity of Carara National Park but Cerro Lodge seemed to have good reviews so that's where we opted for. After visiting cold and windy Monteverde, arriving here was something of a shock as the temperatures were in the high thirties,...

We stayed at Cerro Lodge as a stopover during our Costa Rican travels. It was a nice clean hotel with good, but basic food. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to see the birds that were described in other reviews. The location is a but secluded but it is close to the "crocodile river" and there are several tours you...

The name is a bit of a misnomer as I believe it's a lodge rather than a hotel. Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious, including a generous bathroom. All rooms located in seperate small blocks (max 3 per block) with winding access paths. Large open air dining with tea and coffee available from dawn...

Excellent location in central pacific region. Birding on site is amazing and only minutes from Carrara park. If u go to Carrara try to get Henrico as your guide. Truly superb We stayed in a bungalow with outdoor shower spacious clean with great beds. Staff are attentive and helpful. Ate dinner on site - not gourmet but tasty and excellent...

If you are after 5 star glitz, this probably isn't for you, but we loved it. The accommodation is mainly in individual cabins with air conditioning and open air facilities! The setting is absolutely beautiful, tropical trees and plants and the associated wildlife (mainly birds). The food was excellent. It was simple, but prepared fresh and always served with a...

Cerro Lodge is located close to Cararra National Park and Tarcoles river where the bird watching is amazing. We were lucky to see the scarlet macaws when we visited and the hotel attracts lots of species with the bird tables near the dining area. The rooms are in detached chalets spread out around the grounds and ours was clean and...

On a birding and natural history trip to Costa Rica we spent 3 nights at Cerro Lodge in December 2015. Location was very convenient to Carara National Park, the boat tours on the Tarcoles River and the adjacent mangrove swamp, and for a tram ride in the rain forest. Our room was clean and neat and we enjoyed being able...
