Off the grid👍, sustainable farm. Food was top notch. The grounds were peaceful and relaxing. Nice hammocks. Enjoyable hike to a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole. I would highly recommend this lodge to others.

Great place for relax and detox time. Eco-friendly lodge with awesome gardens, trails and a waterfall. Bungalows have a great view to the mountains. Excellent and healthy food. Road requieres a 4WD, but it is NOT dangerous, just bumpy.

This was a complete surprise given the countryside we drove through. Quite a drive to reach but worth it. Greeted by Jessica who was very knowledgeable about the lodge, gardens and its history and so enthusiastic about how it is run and its future plans. She showed us around the area where they grow their own cocoa , veg and...

Don't be put off by the rough ride to get there - it is worth every bone shuddering mile! You are greeted with a warm welcome. Has a 'family ' feel to it from the start of your stay. From treks through the jungle to simply relaxing to admire the beautiful gardens or watching the abundant birds. The highlight was...

Macaw lodge was sold to us as a birding hot spot, however there were no birding guides on site, and certainly no macaws to be seen while we were there. it is in a lovely place in a beautiful setting, however be prepared for at least an hour on an awful road to get there and for the mosquitoes which...

After reading about Macaw Lodge and its location, I had to visit. It did not disappoint! The entire property is beautiful-- gorgeous grounds, an abundance of colorful birds, and so peaceful. The lodge itself is elegant simplicity. It's very tastefully designed, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the floor to ceiling windows offer lovely views from each room. The...

I visited Costa Rica for the first time and I also had my first stay in an Ecolodge. My time in the country and my time travelling around couldn't have been more lovely.
