Had a week here in September with my two kids, age 8 and 11. Must say I was a sceptic because it was quiet and a bit out of town, but we fell in love with the place. Excellent food, excellent service, friendly and lovely atmosphere, clean and a peaceful place to be - even with kids. Staff was so... More

I actually stayed at the huge hotel complex Caldera next by but came here to eat when I got sick of the all inclusive. The hotel is very nice, relaxing atmosphere and the people working here are the kindest. Also, the chicken souvlaki they make I love very much. I highly recommend.

This Family owned hotell is perfect for a quiet holiday in Crete. Situated in Gerani, a small village a few kilometres from busy Platanias. I stayed her for one week this month and found that this was a perfect spot for a week's relaxation. The hotell is situated in a well maintained garden, consisting of trees, bushes and flowers, where... More

Just came back from one week at this hotel. I have never been at a hotel who is so clean outside and inside the room. The service People is always smiling when they work. It was a nice poolarea and a small nice bar with the food you need for lunch. The dinner in the evening we wanted to eat... More

It is a beautiful small resort in a tranquil village, ideal for relaxing. The apartments, surrounded by gardens, are clean and comfortable, with daily room service. The owner is very friendly and all the staff is very polite. There is a pool-bar-restaurant, where you can have breakfast (not necessarily included in the price), drink, meal (food is quite expensive). The... More

The Hotel is extremely well kept, the gardeners came twice during our 11 day stay. The rooms are cleaned 6 days a week towels changed once a week or so. We stayed in a maisonette with two bathrooms, 2 balconies and a pantry kitchen. The price for the room was appropriate if not rather cheap so we were happy. The... More

We stayed at this hotel for a week in September, 2012 and it was the worst service we have ever had. Firstly, you have to pay for everything there:bed sheets and towels are changed once a week, if you want them to be changed more frequently, you have to pay! Moreover, air conditioning is 55 euros per week. There were... More

We stayed at Vagia Mare hotel for a week in August. Our room was on the ground floor with two terraces on each side. This gave us enough privacy from the neighbors (many of them were families with small children). I would not recommend Vagia Mare for children - the playground area is very small and in the back area... More

After a week on Vagia Mare, the conclusion is that the place is "good enough". With some changes it may instead be "very good": 1. Some more sun beds (there is room for some more!) 2. Get fitted roof (canvas) on all balconies / terraces (missing on almost all) 3. Should be allowed to cool down the bedroom before going... More

“If you are afraid of spiders, ask for a room on the second floor. We had an uninvited visitor in our ground floor room one night. However, some of the second floor rooms don't have roofs on the balconies which makes it very uncomfortable because of the direct sunlight. If I ever went back, I would ask for a second floor room with a roof on the balcony.”
