Hotel Quinta Do Lago garners accolades for its comfortable amenities, including diverse dining experiences, an attentive staff, and pristine pool and beach facilities. The service at the hotel is generally celebrated for its warmth and professionalism, though it's not without occasional lapses. Guests are charmed by the clean, cozy rooms and the hotel's serene location amidst a picturesque lagoon and beach within a National park.
Despite some reports of noisy air conditioning and spotty housekeeping, the overall cleanliness and tranquil atmosphere, accentuated by interesting new artwork, make it a favorite for families and couples alike. While opinions on value vary, with some finding it pricey, the consensus recognizes the quality experience offered.

I have been extremely impressed by the quality of Quinta do Lago. I stayed there first in April 2024 after prematurely leaving another hotel in the Algarve that I had booked in a rush and that proved to be disappointing. So I booked Quinta do Lago in the morning and showed up there three hours later, expecting that reception staff would not yet be aware of my booking. To my surprise, they were and greeted me with my name as I walked through the door. They were all impeccably dressed and super professional. Guest relations are so helpful and kind as well. The hotel provides a true Grand Hotel feeling, which is very rare these days. The heated outdoor pool is fabulous, I could swim with my eyes open without chlorine biting into my eyes. The pool restaurant as well as the formal restaurant are of outstanding quality. In the morning, breakfast is served on white cotton table cloth in a carpeted area, free of noise and smell, very serene, a delight. Ah and when I left after my first stay, I had spare tokens for the driving range and left them at reception so they could give them to another guest. I had forgotten about them, but when I returned, Fatima, one of the kind receptionists, handed them back to me. So kind and so professional!

Really lovely hotel, excellent service at every level, overall a fabulous place to stay. We had 4 nights at the end of February, everything about the hotel was very well run, professional, civilised and peaceful. Great food at breakfast & dinner, lovely salads and fresh fish. Bedrooms clean neat tidy and everything you needed, comfy bed, good shower & WiFi. The location is good as it's one of the last buildings before you reach the coast so scenic views over the dunes to the sea, which is quite unusual for anywhere on the Quinta do Lago estate. Absolutely recommended.

We went as a family with an 11year old child. The hotel is 5 star and is definitely worth yhe rating. The standard is high. However the atmosphere is not stiff, the staff are so pleasant and friendly and determined to make our whole family feel comfortable. We were thrilled to be welcomed by a bottle of port and chocolate milkshake in our room with matching dressing robes and one to fit our daughter. Everything was covered. The bed was ready, the towels the correct numbers and turn down treats for everyone each night.
The food was exquisite and we went half board worth the cost. The break fast was fresh pastries, cheeses, cereals, hot breakfast with eggs as you like it, fresh juices and sparkling wine!
There is an indoor pool, outdoor pool, tennis and more. The spa did a massage for my daughter!
The location is beautiful in a National park and the beach is 800 m walk in the park. The beach has loungers and towels for the hotel. We enjoyed our time in these stunning surroundings. We are busy professionals in every day life and this treat was what we needed. Thank you to all the staff, we will come again.

For an expensive 5 star hotel we were quite disappointed with our stay. The hotel is in a great location overlooking a protected tidal lagoon which is full of fish and birds. Room was very clean and comfortably furnished but the air conditioning was extremely noisy (both in our room and on our balcony) and although we asked it to be looked at more than once it remained noisy throughout. Breakfast was good with plenty of options but it seemed if you weren’t a regular returning guest you were way down the queue for service. The pool was lovely and clean and the 1 pool attendant worked hard to give everyone beds and towels but lots of guests placed personal belongings on beds then disappeared for hours even though it said in hotel literature that this was against hotel policy. If you went to the pool late afternoon - early evening it was still open for use but all staff were gone and no towels were available. On several occasions (we stayed a week), we came back from a day out and our room hadn’t been serviced, we got ready and went out for our evening meal and it was done on our return but we were never sure if it was just combined with evening turn down. The grounds appeared to be a little unloved and undergoing some changes but although there were piles of stones waiting to be spread nothing seemed to progress during our stay. Nothing the hotel can do about this point but it is worth mentioning, the hotel sits right on the flight path of Faro airport (with the start of it’s runway only a couple of miles away), this is now a busy airport and depending on time you either have aircraft coming in to land or taking off right above your head. Would we stay again, yes if a bargain came up but not at their current prices.

What an experience... Extremely polite and kind staff showing very high levels of professionalism, excellent food, very comfortable and extremely well kept facilities, very quiet atmosphere and a very good place to have lunch and dinner as an alternative to all the restaurants that are usually full in the Summer. Never tasted anything like that. It's expensive but I recognize it's worth every cent.

Having been to Portugal a few times we thought we would look at staying in this area for a last minute sunshine break. Loved the area although quiet and more laid back -just what we wanted! The hotel staff are the pinnacle to this hotel from the housekeeping to the restaurant staff, they were friendly and approachable and always with a smile. The room we stayed in was very clean and we enjoyed the balcony area to watch the fabulous sunsets ! We had tea and coffee facilities, bathrobes, slippers, and free water. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel so can’t comment but the breakfast was fabulous with a great choice. My omelettes were the best I’ve had ! The beach is a ten minute walk away via the bridge, ponte da Quinta do lago. We also visited Bold Octopus, Izzy’s ,The Shack, Bovino, Casa Velha and Gigi’s for meals. All highly recommended but strongly advised to book ahead in the high season ! We also visited Quinta Shopping Centre enjoying a meal at the Cheeky Pup and spent another a day visiting Vilamoura and Quarteria via an uber. An enjoyable break and stay at this 5 star service hotel even though we are not golf enthusiasts! We enjoyed afternoons around the pool although on our last afternoon I’m sure there were a few ‘ unwanted guests ‘ who didn’t appear to be staying at the hotel. (I would suggest to management a system to check who are staying/ paying guests as it looks like non residentials can access this exclusive hotel from the public footpath )

I booked an accessible room for my husband 60th birthday ( I’m the disabled one). I emailed the hotel ahead at the end of March. At 22.30 we are still sitting in bar area awaiting an accessible room. It is the 19 th of May and the only accessible room is booked out to another person on May 23rd. We have been told we are unable to have an accessible room even though it is available for the next 4 days. I have motor neurone disease and I’m unable to get up off an ordinary toilet seat, I need a walk in shower and to be able to manoeuvre my wheelchair around the bathroom. The manager , apparently on his way back from Lisbon , has told the receptionist not to put us in the accessible room!! He wants us to take a non accessible room. Not happy. Happy 60 th birthday to my husband!!!!! Not what you expect from a 5* hotel

Response from Quinta do Lago Hotel , Diretor-Geral at Hotel Quinta Do Lago
Responded May 22, 2024
Dear Mrs Harvey, We are sorry that your vacations were not up to the ideal start. The reservation we received did not request a room with accessibility features, and we misunderstood your email request as wanting a room close to the public areas, which we were careful to assign on arrival. The room we have with full accessibility features was booked during your stay, which is why we were looking for a confortable solution that would be fitting for your entire stay, which we had availble the following morning and that, we understood, was perfect for your needs. Again, we are sorry for the imperfect start to your holiday and I hope we will be exceeding your expectations during the remainder of your stay. Our sincere apologies for this unfortunate misunderstanding and, rest assured, we have already further trained our staff to better understand requests of this nature. With kind regards, - Daniel Alexandre do Adro

Lovely mini break to Portugal over the Easter weekend. A lovely hotel with a fabulous pool and great location. My 2 young daughters 7 and 4 loved the lady in the the kids club they were asking to go back every day. Pool service was brilliant. There was a lady at breakfast one day that said we weren’t allowed to get a take away cup for our coffee and that we needed to purchase one from the pool bar. This was rather ridiculous as every other day it hadn’t been a problem. They allowed us a free late check out as our flight wasn’t until 6pm. The food in the restaurant was fabulous every night. The hotel was maybe a little quiet some light entertainment in the evenings maybe in the form of a musician and maybe could have catered a little more for the children with us being Easter. Easter eggs were left in the rooms for the children which was a nice touch. On checkout we were told we were being charged a ‘waiting charge’ for the pick up at the airport. This definitely wasn’t the case as we landed 40mins earlier so just double check bills on checking out. Overall a lovely hotel but maybe not a must for families with children.

There are many great things about this hotel, but the greatest thing is the staff. Everyone we met was lovely, warm, accommodating, kind and really good with children. While playing at the lake my son hurt his knee and Barbara (who is amazing) made a real fuss of sympathizing with him and applying some “magic cream” to his knee to make him good as new. Bernardo, aka Bukayo Saka was a joy to see every day, always with a smile and a kind word and a quick chat about football. Carlos around the pool was always so helpful, as was Kelton.
We planned this holiday as an opportunity to relax and not leave the hotel and it was the perfect place to do so. The pool facilities are excellent and you are so close to the beach, where the sun loungers are included that you can still vary your stay without going too far.
For children there is an excellent menu and loads to do. The food at the hotel was excellent (particularly recommend the seafood night), the rooms spacious and comfortable and the nightly turn down service is a wonderful way to end the day.
The thing that struck me most was that all of the guests we spoke to were returning guests, some of whom had been returning for 10 years +!! We will absolutely return here - we love Quinta do Lago and thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at this hotel. 10/10 in all areas.

Overall facilities are first class, the staff, many long standing, treat us as family. This is the reason we return year after year. New art work was put around the hotel and bed rooms this year which as well as refreshing, is really interesting and complementary to the overall ambience of the hotel.
