My husband, young daughter and I have just returned from a 2 week stay at this recently renovated hotel and we had a truly fantastic time. The hotel was quiet (felt like about 40% occupancy at a guess) due to recent changes to travel restrictions. For context, we have stayed at many top end, luxury hotels around the world over the past 15-20 years and have high expectations of any hotel claiming to be 5*. The hotel itself is incredibly clean, stylish and has the feel of a luxury hotel. I wouldn’t call it super top end but it definitely warrants the 5* label. The communal areas and gardens are immaculate and the suites are spacious and luxurious with great little kitchenettes that give you the option of cooking yourself should you choose to. We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was truly perfect for our needs - we probably could have gone for a 1 bedroom but my daughter certainly enjoyed having a huge room and bathroom all to herself. The only negatives for the suite was a very weak hairdryer and the beds are a little hard - just ask for a mattress topper. There is only 1 restaurant and 1 bar. We only dined at the restaurant (every breakfast and 1 dinner) and we couldn’t fault the food - very nice. The pool area is lovely with a little kids pool beside the main pool which didn’t seem to bother other residents without children. So here is the most relevant part…the service. Being a fairly demanding person who expects a lot from a hotel with a 5* tag, I will be honest and say that at times there were a few little niggles that I believe were partly down to having recently reopened. They were seriously minor and quickly and easily corrected. The point being that the service generally was incredible - to the point where you would pretty much forgive anything. Efficient, professional (always) and incredibly friendly. There was not 1 single member of staff who I could find any fault with. In fact I could write a whole list of genuinely “wow” experiences delivered by the staff. I don’t usually name check staff but Ana and Andreia at the kids club were adored by my daughter and they made every visit there special for her. She absolutely loved it! The staff on reception were always present, never left you waiting and were incredibly helpful, the chauffeur was pure charm and professionalism, the breakfast staff were just amazing (every single one of them including chefs). There were 2 acts of pure kindness that went so far above and beyond the call of duty that I have to mention them by name. Daniela and Ana in the restaurant each did something for my daughter that actually brought a tear to my eye and made our stay so very memorable. An absolute credit to Wyndham! I can hand on heart recommend this property for so many reasons, but without doubt, the best part of our stay was the fantastic service.

Just returned from Portugal and thought I'd leave a review to help those considering this hotel as it has been rebranded and launched only a few weeks ago. I must say that during these difficult times of covid, we felt very safe in the algarve. All the protocols to keep guests safe have been set up well. The food and drink is fairly priced for a 5* hotel and offer a kids menu where prices are affordable at around 6 euros. Pool area is immaculate and staff cabt do enough to help. Mention of Bruno who was our host at dinner and Bernardo, the hotels driver who was very informative about the area. All in all a lovely place for a family break, close to the beach and an abundance of nice restaurants close by abd in val de lobo.

Think hard before you book this hotel. My family and I have been coming here for a number of years, formerly to the hotel known as Quinta Do Monte Suites. We even used this hotel to host 100 of our guests at our wedding here a few years ago. I am not sure if it’s the change of ownership or the fact the hotel has been shut for lockdown but the service is appalling. Despite the hotel being shut for months we arrived on the first day of opening. We had to wait from 12 to 16:30 for our room to be ready… why on earth would they not have got it ready the day before? When we finally got to our room, we’re our bags there… no chance, we had to chase for them. The check in process by the way took 80 minutes… yes folks 80 minutes!!!!!! Upon check in they overcharged my card. Do they just refund it automatically… no of course not, I have to go and queue up for half an hour as usual at reception for them to do it. If you’d like food or drink at the pool bar, expect to wait around 30 minutes for them to take your order. Two days in and on both days we have arrived back at our room at 5pm, has it been cleaned… of course not! Each day we have to request that and we then just have to sit and wait for them to do it rather than get ready to go out for the evening. We also requested two rooms next to each other weeks ago when we booked but this was something the hotel didn’t do either and couldn’t seem to fix even though when we checked in the hotel was nowhere near full. Stunningly disappointing and so different to our past experiences.

Firstly I should state that given the circumstances with Covid-19 it is understandable that things might be different and I fully understand why the spa and jacuzzi were closed. However when you are paying full price for a five star hotel experience you expect that the price might be reduced or that they would give you a free dinner or something to make up for it. One free drink token was all that was given and it had to be a specific drink. That was poor but I could get over it. The tap in my bathroom didn’t work, the pool bar was closed and there was no service to the beds at the pool so you had to walk into the restaurant to ask for a drink to be brought to you and they made you feel like you had terribly inconvenienced them every time apart from one young waiter who was very nice. We had also paid for a room with a view of the pool but didn’t have we had a view of a tree. All in all it was a terrible experience and I would never go back.

I booked 3 nights but stayed 1. The hotel is undergoing considerable building work affecting the lobby the restaurants and bars Only rooms facing the road were available and only room service for food The staff were not great But when I spoke to the General Manager he was great. He was professional kind and generous I will try again when the work is over. They deserve a chance to show their true colours
