We had a wonderful stay in July. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the room was cleaned every day. It is not ultra modern, but not everyone wants that, but the classic studio we stayed in was spacious and had everything we needed. We opted for bed and breakfast and were not disappointed. The breakfast was all you can eat buffet and had a good selection of cooked items and continental. The staff throughout the hotel and in both the pool snack bar and the attached italian restaurant were always very polite and helpful. Special mention for the italian restaurant, great food, great prices and exceptional service. They even went the extra mile when I asked for something that was not on the menu and they made it for me. First class!! The pools were good and never overcrowded, but towards the end of our holiday the sunbed warriors arrived and would queue up in a morning to leave their towels for the day and only use the bed for half an hour.. I think the hotel should put a time limit on how long the bed can be left unattended before towels removed to give others a chance. We simply went to the beach instead where 2 sunbeds with a shade was only 10 euros for half a day. It was too hot after 1pm anyway.

Really enjoyed our stay, everything we needed for a self catering holiday for 10 nights, the hotel staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help you with anything and everything, beds made every day which is a first for us as it's usually every other day when on holiday. Great location with surrounding bars and various different restaurants but not too lively with just a short walk to the small sandy beach. An uber is as little as €8 euros to the old town which has huge sandy beach which was ideal. If we were looking at returning to the same area in future we'd certainly look at booking the oceaus again.

Stayed 4 nights in Feb in a studio apartment. Have stayed before and overall it’s a nice clean complex but a little dated / tired in some places. The bathroom in our apartment was terrible the shower tray had a massive crack & had been filled with silicone so it was very bouncy. Leaking sink tap & lots mould. Had to get a shower mat as was concerned it was unsafe. For what paid overall it was great but had we have paid more such as peak season prices then it would have been unacceptable. The complex has recently been repainted and nice new refurbished reception etc. Beds were comfortable think might be new mattresses and room was cleaned & towels changed daily.

Pro’s of the hotel : Great location of the hotel, right outside of the home was a taxi rank and bus stop. All but one members of staff were friendly and helpful. Close to numerous eateries/restaurants/supermarkets/bars, we stayed during October half term and by the time we were heading home quite a few were closing down for the season. Very clean room, very spacious and well equipped room, although we never used and ate out. Never used either pool but again looked very nice and clean. Communal toilets were well kept and tidy. Cons of hotel: Was told we could try breakfast and then use for minimum 3 days of stay and pay the lower rate, upon trying to do this it is actually the whole of your stay, €12.60 is very pricey for breakfast and was a bit samey, coffee machine wasn’t consistent and weak or not providing drinks. Rooms were paper thin, could hear the people in room below having a wee during the night, road traffic and door slamming every night, never had a good sleep for the whole week for one reason or another noise wise, such a shame as the other points wouldn’t be mentioned if the sleep factor was better. Sound proof the rooms please as it would be so good.

Very nice apartments in a great location, taxi rank and bus stop directly behind the main building and a small supermarket 100m away with the bigger main supermarket just 3 minutes walk along the main road through the village/town. We stayed in a T1 Family apartment which was in the second building directly next to the main. 5 beds (proper beds), separate double bedroom with ensuite shower room, main lounge with dining area, a single bed opposite the main shower room and 2 single beds in the lounge area which can be partitioned off. The Kitchen was big enough and had everything you'd need barring an oven. The balcony was big enough for 4 to sit and eat lunch at the table. all of the hotel staff were very polite and friendly, the rooms nice and clean, the pool areas are spotless and there was plenty of beds available until around 10am (remember this was the height of kids school holidays). I was always up early so would go down for the pool area to be opened at 8:30am. It was only a 5 minute walk down the steep hill (nicknamed cardiac hill) to the small main beach with all the shops, bars and restaurants but you could take the longer less steep walk which is longer but was the best route to take walking back up. We stayed with a 13 and 11 year old and 10 days was enough before the kids would run out of things to do. We did a day at the Aquashow Waterpark (just outside Vilamoura) which was brilliant, we booked the park tickets and the return taxi directly with the reception which made things so simple. Id also recommend the open top hop on hop off bus tour which stops outside the hotel and runs between Albufeira and Vilamoura. all in all a great family holiday, we stayed self catering and found more than enough choices of evening meals at the local eateries. One slight problem was you cannot take your own drinks and food to the pool as they insist that is what the snack bar is for, you're okay with water but anything more than that and the bar staff will warn you.

Outstanding stay in The Oceanus. Our apartment had everything we needed and was much bigger than we had expected. Swimming pool area was lovely and we never had an issue getting sun loungers at any time of the day that we visited. Food in the snack bar was tasty and great value for money. Every member of staff that we met from the reception to the cleaners to the pool staff were very helpful and more importantly friendly and very full of great information they were willing to share. We hired a safe with a key which we found safer than a card and we also hired their beach towels which was very helpful for us as we didn’t have to worry about bringing towels on our flight. They even allowed us change the towels when we wanted and they were very reasonably priced. The indoor pool was a lovely break when I didn’t want to worry about sun cream on the kids and we always had it to ourselves when we visited there. We had a room overlooking the pool, it was called a sunny side room and we did have sun any time we went out there. The room was lovely and quiet and I would recommend this as the opposite faces a road. We found the air conditioning and wifi very good and we didn’t have any problems with either and we had a few devices working off the wifi. There were a good selection of English speaking channels such as channel 4 and the BBC amongst others which was nice to have in the evenings. The location of the hotel was ideal, only a few steps down to a couple of lovely bars and restaurants and only about 10 mins or less down a hill to the beach. We didn’t have issues coming back up this hill but I can see how people might find it a struggle as it was steep but there was a longer walk which avoided the hill. We really did enjoy our stay in The Oceanus and look forward to returning when we visit Olhos de Agua again.

One-week package (flight + hotel) with Air Transat from Toronto, transfers included, early October (2024). Late season, beach bathing season officially ends on 10/15, very few people in the water already.
The good part: - Very good location, with many restaurants and a nice beach nearby. Two large groceries stores in walking distance. - One-bedroom apartments are large (not a lot of furniture) and kept clean. Yes, the furniture and furnishings are rather on the older side. - Bedroom has two twin beds, no TV. This seems to be the local standard. - TV has many programs in English, from CNN/BBC to American series with Portuguese subtitles. - Outdoor pool is large (especially off-season), with a good selection of drinks/snacks. - Breakfast is repetitive but quite good. EUR 12.60 regular, EUR 8.90 if opting in advance to have it for the whole stay. Solo trip, can't say if mandatory for all guests in a suite. You might find alternatives in the area, but opening later than 8 AM and possibly with a good walk to get there. - Hotel bar has a happy hour 7 to 8 PM, with live shows twice a week. Good drinks, not crowded this time of year (at least before 8 PM).
The less good part: - If in the main building (with the reception desk), and facing the (main) street, it gets noisy from traffic. And extra in the evening: loud music from a restaurant across the street - live shows (ended usually before 9:30 PM).
Overall it's a very good choice (and less expensive than all other Transat options), I'd visit again - trying to get a less noisy room.
Happy travels!

We are just coming to the end of our 10 night stay at the apartments. We have had a great time. We stayed in a studio apartment with a room over looking the smaller pool. The studios are very spacious with a nice sized balcony which had a table and 2 chairs plus a pull out cloths line which was great for the drying out towels and swim wear. The rooms were exactly as the pictures advertised so no complaints from us.
The kitchen was also well catered for, we had breakfast and lunch there most days. Kettle, toaster, pots, pans, bottle opener etc everything we needed. There is a smaller supermarket by the hotel or a larger intermacrche about a 5 mins walk down the road, all good value for money and stocked well.
The larger pool always had beds available, yes people reserved bed with their towels but they were very soon occupied. We did not have any trouble getting beds throughout our stay, no matter what time we went down. There also seemed to be an abundance of floaties (lilos, rings etc) that were free for all to use. Both pools opened at 8:30 and closed at 6pm.
The snack bar at the big pool was lovely, we were on self catering so cannot comment on the breakfast but we did eat there in a few occasions at lunch time and we cannot fault it, food was tasty and good value for money.
There are so many lovely restaurants near by, we tried lots of different ones around and did not have a bad meal. We also got take away pizza one evening when we were tired and didn’t want to go out,
The beach is a short walk (5 mins if your take cardiac hill, or 10-15 mins if you go the longer route). The main area down by the beach was full of life with many bars and restaurant available. The beach is also lovely with a great viewing point over the bay.
We also used the gym on a few occasions. It was great for a light workout with weights, cross trainer, treadmill and exercise bench. Only downside was no air con it is definitely a hot and sweaty work out! The gym was open from 7am to 10pm.
All in all we have a great and very relaxing stay and would definitely return.

We really like this hotel. We have been to Albufeira many times but this was a perfect hotel location for Olhos de Agua which we love. Albufeira has changed over recent years and is now more catered for stag do's and party goers. Olhos is better for families and this hotel is in a perfect spot to access the beach and restaurants. Our room faced the pool area and was very quiet, and the hotel is spotless. We particulary enjoyed the buffet breakfast which had a great variety of fresh food. The pool is lovely and the indoor pool had a spa feel to it and was a nice treat as noone else was in it as outside was 30 degrees! You have to wear a swimming cap in the indoor pool which you can purchase for 3 euros at reception but my daughter and i had a giggle putting these on. I felt very relaxed here and the cocktails in the pool bar were very nice. The cleaners were in every day replacing towels etc. I was very impressed. Karaoke on a Monday, live music on a Thursday and plenty going on in the surrounding bars and restaurants.
I only have one complaint and that was the beds, as others have said. Very uncomfortable sofa bed and hard mattresses did not make for a good night sleep, so much so that i would hesitate booking here in the future just for that one reason. Apart from that though, overall a very pleasant stay.

2nd visit to Oceanus, though this time only a 4 unfortunately. The staff again were excellent, super helpful and friendly right throughout the whole complex. Snack bar great for afternoon drinks, and the hotel bar nice for a quiet drink most nights, there is a Karaoke night though which is good fun. Pools were clean with the usual greedy towels sunbathing on their own!! We used the indoor pool several times this stay it was lovely, cold but refreshing out of the sun.
Location again great, close to everything, and a gem of an Italian restaurant opened up in the complex, this is well worth a visit, 5fratellis.
The drop in rating this year is for the accommodation. We booked for a superior apartment because we had upgraded on site during last stay as the promised classic sunny side apartment was disappointing. Last stay was in the main building, and whilst yes the room was a little dated, it was in good repair and very comfortable, with larger balcony. This year we were in the building you follow the blue line for. The building is shabby, stained and patched carpet in hallways. The apartment although adequate was far from superior. I assume the large balcony is what designated it superior status. The interior was shabby, two battered hard chairs in living area. Incredibly hard beds. Very dated and moldy bathroom. As this was a ‘superior’ and it had a decent balcony we stuck with it but compared to apartments in the main building they do fall short. The cleaners were great however, fresh towels every other day, and cleaning service available daily, we had a bed linen change also mid stay.
All in all not a bad stay we were just a little disappointed with the accommodation. Whilst we could have pursued a change we had already paid a considerable amount more for this apartment, and we were not prepared to pay anymore.
The location of this hotel and the staff would be my reason for returning, and I am considering again for next year. I will be mindful next time if allocated a room outside of main building especially if I pay the £500 plus for a superior room.

There are restaurants and bars close to the property. I cannot recall if any are accessible without any steps at all. Check google maps streetview. It';s a VERY steep hill down to the beach. As for the complex itself - I think you can get to the pool area without steps, but the pool itself is only accessible via roman steps or a ladder. Can't recall if there's a slight step between pool terrace and pool bar. There are lifts in both blocks, but the lifts are small. Note - if you are in the 2nd block without reception, it will be a long way for you to get back to the pool, reception and restaurant without using steps. Corridors would probably be big enough for a wheelchair, but bathrooms may be compact and there may be a step into the shower. Bed arrangement in classic studio is definitely not accessible with a wheelchair right to the side of the bed - not enough room. The complex does not advertise accessible rooms. I would look elsewhere. it's a hilly resort, I would strongly suggest you look somewhere flatter.
There are more places to choose from in the Olhos de Agua area.
