The hotel has a beautiful garden above the beach. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Our room was very quiet and very clean. The glass cubicles for the shower and toilet are very modern but take a bit of getting used to. The evening buffet, which changed daily, was very tasty and fresh, as was plenty of fish or meat, depending on your taste. A lovely bar with live music and very imaginative cocktails. All in all, a thoroughly successful holiday, thank you for that!!

Beautiful hotel in gorgeous grounds surrounded by pine trees ! This will not disappoint the breakfast and lunches were superb such a great selection of delicious fresh food ! We stayed for a week in 3 x deluxe suites the biggest comfiest beds and pillows all lovely toiletries in bathrooms great showers 2 x flat screen tvs and lovely balconies. Had dinners out every evening lots of towns only 20 minutes away for which we booked Uber taxis only 20 euros. Thankyou Epic Sana for a wonderful holiday we will definitely be back ! The only annoying thing was a family with kids on electric bikes and scooters who kept riding them around the pool and even up and down the corridors ( not the hotels fault ) but I hope they are told in future to leave their bikes and scooters out of the hotel !

This was our first visit to Portugal, our first holiday since COVID, we received a very warm welcome to the Epic Sana, immediately I felt at ease and confident that we had made the right choice in picking this hotel. Our room was spacious with separate bath and shower, a large comfortable bed, with a lovely view across the garden grounds towards the sea. The room had a coffee machine, iron, hair dryer and had ample supplies, with bottles of water and chocolates delivered every day. The room was cleaned every day, very throughly with clean towels supplied The breakfast was buffet style, with something for taste, I enjoyed a cooked breakfast, but a more continental options were available and lovely cake The service we received from the staff was excellent. The option for dinner for meat eaters is excellent, with different fish and meat options each day. For vegetarians the options are less good, but again the staff did their best to help deliver a good eating experience. Again the hotel served lovely cakes. The facilities are good with a nice indoor swimming pool accessible 24hours a day. There was fitness classes available, I did not use them. The outdoor swimming pools were very cold, they seemed to be heated on our last day, this coincided with an influx of holidaymakers. The hotel is set in lovely grounds within a pretty coastal area, upon a cliff top offering super views. There is a wooden stairway to the beach, that is ultimated at dusk, this also gives great colour to the cliffs. There was an array of wildlife with the hoopoe bird and Iberian Magpie particularly stunning. The hotel delivered a restful and very good holiday, I’m pleased we booked our stay.

We recently visited Epic Sana Algarve for 5 days with our 1-year-old and were very excited to stay here and treat ourselves, but we were very disappointed with our experience. Long story short, I would not recommend anyone stay here, especially in the lower season (we were there in mid-October).
Pros: - The room and outdoor patio was spacious, with lots of room for our kid to play. - The grounds of the resort were lovely and quiet; the beach was very easy to access and beautiful. - There was a giant, luxurious bathtub in our room. - The staff at the restaurants, especially the breakfast and dinner buffets, were lovely. They all made friends with our son and were incredibly nice and helpful.
Cons: - The resort nickel-and-dimes you wherever they can. You have to pay 15 Euro to use the spa, even while staying there. Laundry services were exorbitantly expensive (6 Euros per piece of underwear!), and we resorted to handwashing all our clothes in the tub. We asked to have a dishwasher pod so we could run the dishwasher with our son's bottles, and the reception told us "dishwasher pods weren't included in our stay," and recommended we get some at the local grocery store. The kitchenette also didn't include any dish soap. - As other reviews have mentioned, the design of the bathrooms is incredibly weird. The shower and toilet share a door, and the floor of the shower moves around in an odd way. The doors to the bathroom also didn't fully close off to the bedroom. - The doors to the bedroom didn't fully close (why!!!), making it very difficult for us to enjoy our night after putting our son to sleep around 8pm. - Lima was closed the whole time we were there, and Uddo was closed most of the time, so our only restaurant option at night was the buffet, which was fine but nothing special. The hotel did not inform us of this ahead of time, and if we knew we would not have stayed here. - My husband didn't have issues, but I thought the bed was too firm and very uncomfortable, and asked several times for a different, firmer pillow (thankfully, they were able to provide this). - The service level for a 5-star resort was a bit lacking in my opinion. We often had to ask several times for things, or our requests (which were minor, like asking for water delivered to our room) were forgotten altogether. The hotel also only brought two very small water bottles a day, and did not recommend drinking the tap water, so we had to buy our own water in town.

Dear kelsnut, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay at EPIC SANA Algarve. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience fell short of your expectations, especially during a time when you hoped to relax and enjoy with your family. We’re pleased that you enjoyed the spaciousness of your room, the scenic grounds, and the warm hospitality of our restaurant staff—your kind words about their attentiveness are deeply appreciated. Regarding the additional charges for spa access and laundry services, as well as amenities like dishwasher pods and bottled water, we understand how these details impacted your stay. We aim to be transparent about such charges, but we’ll take your comments into consideration to ensure that guests feel fully informed about what is included in their stay. Your feedback on the bathroom and bedroom door designs is also invaluable; we realize that privacy and comfort are paramount, especially for families with young children, and will share this with our design and maintenance teams. We apologize for the limited dining options during your visit. We strive to communicate these details ahead of time, and we’ll work to ensure that future guests are better informed of restaurant availability so they can plan their dining experience accordingly. Lastly, we are sorry for any lapses in service responsiveness. Your feedback is a valuable reminder to consistently maintain the highest level of attentiveness, and we are committed to improving in this area. Thank you once again for your comments. Best regards, EPIC SANA Algarve

We opted for half board. It was nicely cooked buffet but not a lot of variety. A theme night Spanish / Mexican food would have mixed it up a bit. Uddo the Japanese restaurant was very good on half board you get a €20 credit off at the three restaurants on site. Live music most evenings very chilled by the bar and main restaurant. As others have said it’s tight they don’t include water at dinner . They do at breakfast. Not a veggie option each night. Rooms very clean. Strange open plan bathroom with glass WC compartment the top half clear. Who wants to look in or out ? Not great with older kids or holidaying with friends. They do a turn down service and leave a small plastic bottle of water and a chocolate each evening . The room toiletries are also individually packaged . It would save a lot of plastic if they used shower gel dispensers / glass water bottles. There is a supermarket over the rd. A couple of cafes and a Italian as well . Plus tennis courts . Lots of hotel pools . Including an indoor one. It’s easy to get a lounger and umbrella. Lunch was good in Open Deck by the hotel pool. The waiters were all very friendly and helpful. Special mention Paulo, Celia and Daniel who were outstanding.. The beach is public in Portugal so the hotel doesn’t have beach loungers. You can hire a lounger for €8 a day. It’s a five / ten minute walk from the hotel and down some steps to the beach and it is peaceful as well. There is a cafe with a loo close to the beach. We walked to the marina left out of the back of the hotel it’s a good hours walk along the beach or over the cliffs . We visited Albufeira it has many cafes, shops and a sandy beach. It’s about 45 minutes drive from Faro airport.

First trip back too Epic Sana for three years and really pleased to see that the high standards are still in place. We had a week staying in a deluxe double room with a pool view and had the same room as our last visit. Room was first class with really good air conditioning, an excellent shower and huge bed. Over looking the pool but set back in the gardens and good sound insulation although slight noise with next doors television. We had half board arrangement and found that the food was of good quality and varied and we had absolutely no issues with the restaurant. All staff we encountered were especially nice and helpful from cleaning staff, pool team, reception, bar and restaurant staff. Must single out Mariana for special mention also Jose and his colleagues. We twice had lunch at the Open Deck and this was really nice and we also ordered food and refreshments from there which was brought to us at poolside. No issues with sunbeds, pool staff we noted were quick to remove unattended towels where they had lain unused for long periods of time and freed up the beds. On our last visit here staff members would come round with Pasteis de Nata for guests during the day which was a nice touch and free of charge. Each day a tray of doughnuts was brought round poolside guests. Unfortunately the staff members made no mention of any charge and this was not made clear until after we were given them when they produced a charge pad to sign, very expensive. We walked along the beach every morning after breakfast, 125 steps down to the beach on pathway adjacent to the hotel and we walked for an hour in each direction, absolutely fabulous. We did find the hotel to be quite expensive when purchasing food or drink and I still believe that the additional daily charge to use the sauna/turkish facilities is a bit overkill, but that is hotel policy. There is a well equipped gym and an inside swimming pool which can be accessed and used without charge by guests. Evening entertainment was very chilled and generally singer or musician playing in the bar. All in all a very enjoyable week, sun shone throughout and we had a lovely time, we will hopefully return again.

Loved it, more than we could have imagine! Everything was perfect for us as a family with two small boys. The thing we loved the most was that it was great for kids but also wonderful for adults! It is a perfect balance for you as an adult to be on holiday with your kids, have a great time together but also enjoy yourself as an adult (beautiful surroundings, restaurants, swimingpools, nice staff and everything clean).
We had good contact about our booking and doubts to book a garden view suite (in the quite nature area) or pool view suite (in the family area) . We booked a pool view suite (because price was better for the same room size so we thought this was good enough for us and to small kids).
The room was great! One son (3 yrs) slept in the living room and one son in the ensuite bathroom (1 yr old) which was so big it felt like an extra room or an extention of the bedroom. So we could al sleep in our own 'room' and didn't wake eachother during the night. We could still use the toilet in the bathroom or the other bathroom and we could sit on the balcony and go in and out without waking our boys.
We were close to the playground and the kidsclub (but our 3 yr old was a little bit too small for this) and the swimingpool (however the pool in our area was not heated, and with 25 degrees outside it was too cold, so we had to walk to the other, heated swimmingpools). We also missed some things to do around the pool for children, like some toys (which you can't bring yourselfs by plane) or a small slide or fontain in the water would be nice. Nothing big like the large family-resorts, but just something to keep them entertained at te pool. Now the pools are all the same rectangular pools and when there are no other kids to play with, it can get boring. However our son enjoyed himself a lot, with our help ofcourse.
The restaurants were perfect. A little bit expensive, but we enjoyed 3 out of 4. The prices for Lima and Al Quimia were definitely worth it. Uddo was great, but expensive. The buffet-restaurant was way too expensive, the only thing I wouldn't recommend at the Epic Sana Resort.
Breakfast was wonderful, the best we ever had. And also the lunch was great, altough we didn't go every day and not for a long lunch because our sons were sleeping during lunch-time and we had a late breakfast everyday.
The rooms were clean, services at the hotel and restaurants was great and everything was perfect! Staff was very kind, helpful, relaxed and spontaneous.
One thing that makes me question if I would recommend the hotel is the location. For us, it was a long drive to the hotspots in the algarve with children. Everyday a 30 minute drive to get somewhere is too long if they sleep during the day and you want to do activities. We didn't find anything close, like a nice spot for (small) children or a good restaurant. Therefor,e we stayed a lot at the resort and we loved it so much that we still had a great holiday.

We had some wonderful moments at this hotel during our 2-night stay. The grounds are lush and well-maintained. The decor, done in earth tones, wood, bamboo ... was calming and reminded us of Hawaii. The indoor pool was clean and warm, and luckily, we were the only ones in it both times so greatly enjoyed our swims. The beach the hotel is located on (Falesia) is absolutely breathtaking, and we enjoyed walking the beach on both days that we were there. Our room was lovely, very clean with a beautiful view of the gardens and ocean. We watched the sun come up on our second morning, while enjoying a cup of coffee on the balcony. A very peaceful setting.
The customer service, however, needs to be addressed and/or tightened up. We had been travelling through Portugal, and were set to arrive from Porto for a 3-night stay. Despite the fact that we had booked our accommodation months before, just 3 days before our set arrival, we were informed by email that the hotel had no rooms on the first night, that there was a conference and that their system should not have allowed us to book this first night. Their 'simple' solution was for us to move our reservation forward one night. As many travellers can understand, this is easier said than done, incredibly inconvenient, and sometimes just impossible. We decided to cancel the first night and luckily found accommodation at the W hotel.
Because our trip coincided with my husband's birthday, we had booked a suite for the first night, which had to be prepaid at the time of booking. We were told that this amount would be credited to our 2-night booking in our 'regular' room. However, upon our checkout, they attempted to 'credit' us our first night at the price of the suite, rather than the room we had. There seemed to be confustion about how to solve this problem - and they were reluctant to just refund the first night and simply charge the rate for the second night. I have to say that I still don't know if I was credited properly or honestly. At the time of checkout, we were under a time constraint as our ride was waiting and we were on our way to the airport.
Something else occurred during our stay which seemed strange to us. We had asked the customer service representative to call us a taxi for a trip into Albuferia. We waited a long time ... about 30 minutes ... which seemed increasingly puzzling, since we were visiting out of season. We were just about to call our own Uber (which, in retrospect, we should have done), when our taxi pulled up - however it wasn't a 'taxi', but a driver, who charged us 35 Euros for the one-way trip and pressured us to book other rides/excursions with his company. Our trip back by Uber was 9 Euros! Wondering what the connection was with this driver and hotel?
Our experience with the customer service at this hotel cannot be compared to anywhere else we stayed in Portugal. We tried to be understanding, but something just does not sit well with us.

Dear loribrucem, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay with us. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed many aspects of the hotel, from the calming decor and beautiful grounds to the peaceful setting of our location on Praia da Falésia. Your description of the sunrise from the balcony with a cup of coffee sounds like a perfect start to the day, and we’re happy you were able to have such moments here. We sincerely apologize, however, for the inconveniences you experienced with our customer service. It's clear that our handling of the booking issue and the resulting credit was not up to standard, and we regret the confusion and frustration this caused during what was meant to be a special occasion for you and your husband. Please know that we take your feedback seriously and will use it to prevent similar issues for future guests. Regarding the transportation arrangement, we are very sorry that the experience felt questionable and delayed. This is not the level of transparency or convenience we strive to offer our guests. We will address this matter with our team to ensure that our guests feel fully informed and secure with any transportation services recommended by the hotel. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a stay that fully meets your expectations. Best regards, EPIC SANA Algarve

Stayed for a week half board. Beautiful location. Loved the walk down to the beach. The beach is one of the best we have been too and absolutely spotless. You can literally walk for miles. The hotel is modern and clean. The food at breakfast is excellent and there are healthy options which we loved. Could not fault it. The evening meal too is good but you cannot eat in the other restaurants included in your half board which was a little disappointing. They do give you 20 euros each discount off the other restaurants but this doesn’t go far. We ate in Lima on the night when they combined this restaurant with the fine dining one. It was amazing but at 65 euros per person plus wine, the 20 euro discount did not go far. The staff are ALL brilliant. I don’t who trains them but wow, such faultless attentive service from everyone! Names to mention are Daniel front of house , made us feel special every day. Marco in the restaurant and Jose and his brother who made the most amazing cocktails. There were a few negative points that didn’t spoil our holiday but I think worthy of mention. The sun beds on the beach for the hotel are chargeable they range in price from 30 euros to 50 euros per day for two depending where you sit which to us seemed extortionate! Needless to say they were always empty. There isn’t much to do on an evening. Once dinner is over and the singer has finished (around 9pm) everyone disappears and it can be a bit soulless. There are some bars outside of the hotel but they weren’t the best to be honest. There is turn down on an evening where they bring you water and a chocolate and put a mat at the side of your bed which is a lovely touch but most of time they come around 6pm so you are in the room you therefore just get handed them at the door. Surely it would make sense to come a bit later when most people are out? Like I say these are minor points. We had an amazing holiday and would definitely return!

It's very rare to say these days - nearly everything about the Epic Sana Algarve was perfect. The staff was polite, helpful and eager to please. Special shoutouts to Marcos and Elana during breakfast service and Jessica at the front desk.
The pools were plentiful and we did not have any issues finding loungers. The food at Lima, Udoo (the most fantastic sushi) and Abyad surpassed our expectations. We tasted the best orange juice to date. All areas of the hotel were clean and bright. I went on a cliff walk led by a gym instructor - it was great and I wish the walk was offered more than once a week. The massage at Sayanna also excellent. We loved the outdoor bar and thebtalented variety of entertainment - jazz singer, Portguese guitar duo, modern pop singer, etc. (it was not cheesy as I feared).
Our room was sizeable and had a lovely balcony. Overall it was quiet. I did not enjoy the sliding walls around the bathroom (which therefore provided little to no privacy). Perhaps that is the only thing I would change (going back in time to speak with the architect).
The 75 steps to the ocean provide quite an adventure. I was a bit surprised that the beach service (loungers + umbrella) was quite expensive for hotel guests. I instead brought a towel to the sandy beach and "roughed it."
All in all, the experience was fantastic and I hope to stay at other Epic Sanas in the future.

Hi, there are some local restaurants within a 5 minute walk which we tried and liked. One night we picked up an Uber and went a bit further afield to another local town that also had good bars and restaurants by the shore.
I’m not sure about a games room as our young adults were content in the grounds reading and playing backgammon.
It’s about 30-40 minutes from the airport - we booked a private transfer with BA
