It's just great. Small family-run hotel in a quiet bay a few kilometers from the more chaotic Skala. Thorough daily cleaning and kindness out of the ordinary: all the staff proved exceptional with us and with our 7-year-old. Simple but cozy rooms: in particular, I point out the hearty and delicious breakfast, served on the panoramic terrace facing the bay, where every morning sweet and savory homemade cakes are placed. Unforgettable holiday also thanks to the kindness of Elenie of all those who literally pampered us for 9 days.

My wife and me spent ten days in Patmos at Grikos Hotel. The room was perfect, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had excellent breakfasts every morning in the roof terrace watching sea and little boats. We really appreciated the quite and relaxing atmosphere. Marousso and her family were wonderful hosts

Probably the second place on earth, after your home, where you feel comfortable. A family run hotel, white and soap smelling sheets and towels, but these are falling in the shadow of the hospitality of Maruşa, always smiling, cooking homemade cakes striving to please guests with her husband. She hugged and kissed us as she was farewelling her own children. Someone who is looking for a sincere hospitality must visit. Thank you Maruşa, we will sure miss you.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you first of all for your review concerning Grikos Hotel. However, as far as I can remember, you cancelled your reservation a few days before your arrival and we were obliged to apply the cancellation policy of the hotel. It is unfair for our company to be characterised as a "thief", from people who did not stay in our hotel. In any case we keep reading the reviews and taking into consideration our clients' reviews as we prefere getting always better with our facilities. Thank you.

The staff was helpful and kind. The hotel was too old and smelled humidity although it was clean. The breakfast was very poor and the price for what they offered in total was really high. No pick up from/to the port .

About 4 km drive from Skala, main port. A couple of small beaches nearby ideal for swim after a 3 min walk. Very near to Petra bay and 'Plaki beach'. Some rooms have sink and countertops. Rooms are big and clean. Check in and out in just a minute. No elevator; only two floors high. Big terrace on the second floor for breakfast one(sea) side, and sunbeds on the other side. Breakfast perfect, homemade jams and cakes delicious.

We had a bad experience in this hotel which left us hurt and angry.
We spent 12 days at Grykos Hotel. We paid in full and in advance, to include what we thought would be an acceptable breakfast: the coffee was such poor quality and weak it was undrinkable. We asked for Greek coffee, and were told this would be an extra €3 a cup. There was no salad. The daughter was rude to us. She said 'there is nothing wrong with the coffee, no-one else has complained. You don't need salad we provide fruit'. The outcome was we were provided with a small daily salad. We had to buy an utensil, sieve and packet of Lavazza, make our coffee in our room and take it to breakfast. Even on the final day, when the Lavazza finished, €3 per coffee was still demanded.
There was no Greek cheese, the only cheese available was tasteless, processed, wafer thin. The bread rolls, croissants and pastries were mainly baked from a frozen bag. The home made part of the breakfast was overly sweet. If you want a healthy breakfast, this is not your place.
Every morning there was a bowl of unshelled hard boiled eggs, never an omelette or scrambled egg, and we were afraid to ask if that was an option. By this time the policy was clear, absolute minimum provided, extra charges and rudeness covered with smiley 'Kalimeras'.
Foolishly, we didn't check the reviews before booking. Reading them now, we see a trail of family rudeness and poor breakfasts. The severest critics appear to be fellow Greeks.

Response from Ελένη Βαρούνη, Owner at Grikos Hotel
Responded Oct 6, 2024
Hello Ms. Esmeralda, Even we are really sorry you had a bad experience visiting our place, Grikos Hotel, allow us to state some facts that you decided to avoid sharing. First of all, the breakfast is standard for all our clients and, in general, we receive very flattering comments for the variety for our buffet, given the fact that we are a family business and not a big, 5-star, all inclusive hotel. The critics speak for ourselves. Furthermore, we tried multiple times to explain to you that the cost of an extra coffee, depending on its type (Greek coffee to be exact) is just 3 euro, because is not included on the breakfast menu. (Filter and instant coffee of course are included). You basically wanted us to treat you the coffee which we would happily do, if you didn't ask us continually for that or if it was some sort of special occasion. But you just weren't that special. Last but not least, the grandma of the family, given the fact that you showed immediate disapproval of the buffet and its choices, made every day, especially for you, a fruit salad with Greek feta cheese and tomatoes which you showed you really enjoyed. You had it everyday just for you. But at the end of the day you never recognized the effort we did and you just stayed at the incident that the coffee was not on the house. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holidays and that next time you will find something more suitable to your likings. Best regards, Grikos Hotel

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for four nights. Our room was very comfortable and well-equipped. Michael and his family were lovely hosts. Breakfast was served on the roof-top covered veranda, overlooking the Aegean Sea. We enjoyed the many choices for breakfast, including delicious homemade jams made by Michael’s grandmother, using fruit from the family trees. Rates were very reasonable, especially considering the amenities.

One of the best hotels - A friendly, warm but professional hostess and host. The hotel itself is elegant, without the stereotype commercial corporate image. It has an individual air with paintings and the personal touch of the amazing hostess. Yes, you feel it is more like a home where you are an important guest.
Breakfasts are home-made and served to your table; and available from 08.00 am-10.00 am
We were picked-up and taken back to the port.
Rooms were immaculately clean and beds very comfortable.
And just yards from a beach of natural beauty.
Highly, highly recommended
