As former residents of Bath it was pleasant to return and we enjoyed the Old Mill for its location and quiet riverside location. We found the staff extremely polite, courteous and diligent. The food was good and the breakfast all it could be for a 3 * hotel. We have had a lot worse in 5* hotels . As the nation begins to open up this hotel is on the way up too.
Disappointing, room needs updating urgently, cleaning needs attention, room smelled strongly of damp and drains. The two nights we spent there fire alarm went off both nights, not that we able to get much sleep as it’s noisy, walls very thin! Very overpriced, as is the restaurant £17 for 2 sandwiches 1 tea , 1 coffee ! We won’t be going back ! Only good thing was the view !
We paid £164. Not hugely expensive I know but far too much for what we got. Old, dated soulless tiny twin room. No pictures or character. Not particularly clean, bugs on the ceiling, old dirty net curtains and a bad smell of damp which turned out to be the towels. No toiletries, cheapest toilet rolls and most basic biscuits. The beds were incredibly narrow. No hairdryer, though you could ring for one, however the phone was disconnected! We had dinner at a nearby restaurant as the TV was on in the restaurant and it was very loud. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and hash browns for me, the scrambled egg was literally rubber, you could pick it all up at once on the fork! Again, everything felt very low budget, cheap sliced bread, budget fruit juice etc. On the plus side the view was lovely! A very shabby hotel whose owners seem absolutely disinterested in their guests' experience.…
A pleasant hotel, however meals service is not always available. The superior rooms are good average quality. Be sure to book rooms that are only in the mill, not rooms separate from the mill. A bus stop is only 5 minutes walk away that goes into the centre of the city in about 20 minutes, avoiding the hassle of driving into the city and parking.
Even the worst reviews of this place are being too generous! The place can only be described as ramshackle. The hairdryer (which we had to ask for) overheated and turned itself off. We were both hit by clouds of ammonia fumes when we opened the fridge and had to be moved to another rubbish room. Having had to choose our breakfast items (and breakfast time) the night before, we arrived in good time to a totally ‘un-COVID, safe help yourself buffet(!!!) and then waited 40 minutes for our ‘cooked’ breakfast to arrive, which didn’t contain the items we’d chosen and was inedible, pre-prepared and cold (we’ve never seen such wrinkled sausages before!). We weren’t alone - that appeared to be the fate of all all of the residents! All I can say is that the staff were very nice, but that’s the only reason it deserves a star or two. Don’t go there!…
