Our family (kids aged 8 and 10) had the most wonderful stay for 4 days at Ashburnham. After nearly 4 hours car ride from Negombo, we reached the place and were warmly welcomed by the friendly and helpful host couple Gonnie and Pieter. We geared down immediately thanks to the lovely and relaxed atmosphere in the entire house including the...

We spent 4 wonderful days at Ashburnham at the start of our holiday in Sri Lanka and it couldn't have been more perfect. Connie and Pieter were great hosts and the staff were fantastic. All the food we had was delicious and the afternoon teas with a different cake every day a real treat. There is a lovely walk down...

My friends and I had a three days of bliss at this fantastic place in the hills. Delicious food and beautiful rooms. What's not to like. I would definitely recommend this as a perfect retreat. You will be very well looked after by the fantastic management team and enjoy watching the sun set on the terrace with the best gin...

All the operational details you need to know about this wonderful place are contained in other reviews. We were a party of four on a tour of Sri Lanka and we stayed for 3 days at Ashburnham to rest and recuperate. We could have stayed for 3 weeks, or 3 months or 3 years - it has that sort of...

I would def recommend doing the cookery class with Reggie, who is charming and patient! Max, Connie and Pieter all make this place very special, nothing is too much trouble, they are intent on making your stay one of the best ever, quite remarkable in this day and age to get that sort of personal service. All the staff are...

This was the perfect ending to our month long journey through Sri Lanka. We loved this place. Excellent meals are served on the well appointed veranda with stunning views. There are about 5 choices on the menu for each meal, and there is high tea at 4:00. What a treat. Everything we had was excellent. I never took advantage of...

We spent 5 days at Ash, which were pure perfection. The staff, the food, the view, the rooms, the decor, the nature. Words aren't enough. GO! while you have a chance, jump in the waterfall, lounge at the pool and walk in the clouds. Literally.

This tea estate is in the Knuckles hills - wonderful scenery, and high enough not to be too hot, although certainly not cold. The 'hotel' is a colonial era estate manager's house, so cool and spacious. There are wonderful views of the Knuckles all round. There's a great swimming pool with, again, wonderful views. The rooms are very comfortably furnished....

After a difficult journey up a slow road this is a heavenly place to discover . Comfort, views, great food, attentive unobtrusive service from welcoming hosts Gonnie and Pieter and their staff. It is a world away from five star hotels with only six individual rooms. Plenty to do, visiting their tea plantation and a local factory, walks to waterfalls,...
