Let us tell you about the world of Daberer. A world full of quality, joie de vivre and special holiday experiences. Exciting! Holistic! Full of life!

Everything is perfect here. The surroundings, the consistently organic hotel management, the warmth, the many lovely places to retreat to, rooms in which we immediately felt at home. The food is the very best hotel food we have ever had anywhere. There are no huge amounts on the buffet, but many small things and special dishes are homemade, simply delicious. We think it's so good that the hotel uses regional organic food from the surrounding farms. The food is incredibly delicious and very digestible. Which hotel has its own spring that feeds everything, you shower, you bathe in spring water. This was the second time we have been to this great hotel and we still haven't explored every corner. We will definitely come back. It's a shame that the hotel is so far away from us. Otherwise we would definitely be guests there three times a year. Four days in the Daberer are like two weeks of vacation in terms of relaxation.

A place to feel good and arrive and culinary highlights. We are already the 2nd. Been there once and are wishfully happy. Particularly noteworthy is the plunge pool with the outdoor sauna- pure freshness fed with the house spring.

At Daberer, pampering is a top priority: the teams at reception, service and in the kitchen act with competence and warmth, and even for me as an allergy sufferer, no food wish was left unfulfilled.
Organic and sustainability are lived here, as a guest you learn things worth emulating, without dogma but presented in a luxury experience...
The wide view from the balcony in the morning into the Gailtal valley means you can start the day with joy, the good location as a starting point for hikes of all kinds and the magical forest pond just above the house help with this.
I enjoyed ending the day in the well-stocked in-house library, including a reading armchair.

Unfortunately, we cannot share the rave reviews... although we were asked by email to give an "enthusiastic" review...
SPA area, lots of wood, but what is absolutely not acceptable is the round pool, which is already overcrowded if there are more than 5 people. It looks much bigger in the photo, of course. The room is so overheated that turning the control doesn't help and shortly after you have aired the room, beads of sweat are back on your forehead... At dinner you have the feeling that you are being rushed, everything has to go as quickly as possible, how does that fit in with the Slow Food motto? Speaking of food and drinks, the Aperol we consumed was obviously a ready-made mix, an absolute faux pas given the proximity to Italy. The water from the hotel's own spring (carbonated) has to be paid for, almost EUR 3 for the "large" bottle. Given the lack of all the "amenities", including the minibar, perhaps they could be generous enough to offer the water for free. But here the only thing that counts is entrepreneurial profit under the guise of the much-discussed sustainability and organic idea.

Attracted by the many effusively positive reviews, we also booked a week at "Der Daberer". After numerous stays in many different 4*s hotels in Austria and South Tyrol, our expectations and anticipation were huge. The following is the review in bullet points: 1) The location: quiet location in the countryside on the edge of the Gailtal. Beautiful views and a good starting point for hikes and bike tours. 2) Our room (DZ Alpin Studio): simple, functional, everything there (except "amenities", refrigerator, WiFi). 3) The wellness area: beautiful, large new sauna and steam bath with natural bio pond, no outdoor pool, highlight is a wood-heated outdoor sauna, no fruit juices, hot drinks only at the spa reception. 4) The kitchen: our high expectations (due to the great reviews) were extremely disappointed here. Breakfast: the necessary things are no longer available. Limited selection at the buffet. The "fresh homemade bread" that many people praised so highly was no better than in any other hotel in this price range. Lunch: No choice. There is a soup and small salads in a screw-top jar as a snack. Dinner: The food is cooked according to the "Slow Food" philosophy. The kitchen is "organic certified". Dishes/ingredients are often not regional (e.g.: Jerusalem artichoke, tahin, dukkah, and many more). There is no salad or starter buffet. There is only a choice of 2 main courses (mostly vegetarian and fish). We love organic food and know from other hotels how delicious it can be. Unfortunately, at "Der Daberer" organic means sacrifice. It often doesn't taste delicious, but above all "healthy". Much of the taste is bland and for us was "pleasure with the handbrake on". Some dishes were even difficult for us to endure (e.g.: cauliflower with a paste made from crushed capers and salted lemon). Overall conclusion: For us, the Daberer was sacrifice and not pleasure, mainly because of the food. Therefore only 3 stars in the rating.

The Daberer is our absolute favorite hotel and place. For years we have been visiting the incredibly friendly, lovely, funny and always courteous team at least twice a year. Both summer and winter holidays are recommended, because every season offers enough to make you feel comfortable in the hotel and in the town and the surrounding area.
The hotel is beautifully furnished and you can see at every point that everything has been and is being selected with a lot of time, money and, above all, love, because furnishings, books, pictures and art are constantly being renewed and supplemented. I love wandering through the hotel and enjoying the impressions and the quiet atmosphere.
The furnishings in the rooms are also beautifully selected. Modern, practical, but cozy and never overloaded. From the (comfortable!) bed and armchair you have a wonderful view of the small town of St. Daniel with its onion dome and the Carnic Alps.
The meals offered (slow food, organic and regional) in the hotel are always a feast for the eyes and mouth (breakfast, lunch and dinner), because they not only ALWAYS taste perfect, but always look color-coordinated and delicious. The quantities are so sufficient that we have never managed to try the cakes on offer. At some point we will have to hold back on the breakfast buffet and enjoy cake on the sunny roof terrace, with a view of the mountains, a cappuccino and good conversation or simply enjoying the peace and quiet.
At the Daberer we are always treated courteously and, above all, in a friendly, family-like manner. Speaking of treatment: the spa treatments and the adjoining wellness area are also a good alternative to the many activity programs on site (llama hikes, hikes with lunch outside, snowshoe hikes, cross-country skiing courses, torch-lit hikes, cooking courses, and so much more!).
We are already looking forward to our next vacation days at the Daberer. It feels like we're arriving at our second home.
I wrote this review to show that there are still hotels that renounce mass tourism and always cater to visitors! Thank you very much, dear friends! Keep it up!

We enjoyed a great time out at the Daberer. Great hiking opportunities in the immediate vicinity. Then into the wonderful spa landscape. Very relaxing! Dinner and breakfast covered all our wishes - we particularly liked the regionality of the products. The Daberer team is very friendly, non-intrusive. We will come back!

The Daberer - just for feeling good. We were thrilled by the beautiful location on the edge of the forest, with our own forest sauna and forest pond. Our room had wonderfully soft beds and a large balcony with a sun lounger. The food was simply delicious, prepared from sustainable and organic products from the region. The wellness area offers everything you need for relaxation. We booked extra treatments, which were extremely pleasant. The service, whether at reception, in the restaurant or in the spa, was extremely friendly and very helpful with even the smallest questions. In summary: simply perfect!

The Daberer is a hotel that is simply great. It is impressive how people here have an attention to detail and live organic not as a trendy catchphrase, but as a serious expression of an attitude of sustainability.
I was particularly impressed by the fantastic atmosphere. Starting with the employees, who are friendly and competent and give the impression that they really enjoy working for this company, to the architecture and of course the varied and delicious food in organic quality. A nice detail, for example, is that families are placed so that they have immediate access to the playroom and do not have to worry about the child disturbing other guests.
The location of the hotel is fantastic and invites you to relax and let go. The activities are a great additional offer. For example, I took part in the Champagne in the Kitchen, where you can have a glass of champagne at eye level with those responsible for the culinary experience. An exciting insight behind the scenes.
I also liked to use the inclusive service of bike rental, as it allows exploring the landscape in a sustainable way. Many of the guests we talked to told us that they have been regulars for years, and it probably won't have been our last visit either.
I highly recommend this place. That's how the hotel industry works these days!

A hotel... it doesn't get any better than this!!!!! Nestled in nature, very quiet, a wonderful view from a spacious room, beautifully furnished, excellent sleeping comfort, wonderful scent. The whole hotel invites you to linger in its many individual rooms. The restaurant impresses with its great furnishings, but there is also a large terrace. The food is a real treat, surprising with lots of sophistication and local products. The staff are very friendly. We will hopefully be back soon.
