Going for a summer long weekend in this closed corner of the earth is just magnificient. Our room was on the first floor of the secondary building, which had a window on the sunset, and the entrance door on the back where we could have dinner under an old fig tree. I have to say that people from outside the...

Rock beach for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. Quite popular destination. There are some sun chairs available. There's no café, but vending machines with some drinks and snacks available. Small entrance fee. The entrance to the sea for a swim is quite steep from the rocks. Lovely views.

We visited in September 2014 for a wedding. The Tonnara is stunning located, the water around (there is no real beach except a tiny, tiny section kept private for hotel guests) is equally gorgeous. The main beach area (pebbles) is open to the public and does get busy during the summer but the overall experience is beautiful. The rooms have...

Once and till the '80s it was for several people an important way to make a life. The cruelly slaughtered tunas were deviated along their usual route and caught within a large and deep natural pool along the coast. Hence, bigger tunas, around 50 and more kg (also up to 300kg) were harpooned and taken aboard. Every year there were...

It's a bit expensive when you see the numbers but when you are here it's worth every penny. It's so far from a traditional holiday stay but if you value places with a soul and breathtaking views, this is where you should stay. It's an historic tuna station that has been carefully restored and transformed into small apartments. There is...

This place is amazing, and worth the stay if you can book a room at the on site hotel. We had what the owner described as their worst room and it was still very nice and we would happily stay in it again. The Med is very clear and great for swimming at the hotel. Essentially, you are staying at...

The simply refurbished fishermen's dwellings are very charming, and the room we had (Sotto la torre) had a perfect private terrace where we could have breakfast everyday, and an aperitif in the evening. It's really unique and takes you back to a simple summer holiday mode, the location, the views and the feeling of a little self-contained community is really...

Since my last visit in 2012, this lovely swimming area has changed. You are no longer allowed to drive down the hill to parking near the beach - parking is now across the road at the top of the hill. Areas that have any hope of shade have been roped off for the use of guests staying in the rooms,...

“Aim to stay in the main buildings at the seafront, rather than in a side building near the parking lot (e.g. Vicario). The rooms we were in - Ancore and Sotto la Torre - were both full of character, but one had much more space and a more functional kitchen than the other.”
