I came to L'Age Baston for my painting holiday but it was so much more than a" holiday". It was an experience I will never forget. The art instruction was unbelievable, the food was wonderful, the people were great and the entire experience was set in a fabulous place! Alex and John were very hospitable and welcoming. It was really...

To become part of the community of l'Age Baston is to enjoy a family holiday with new-found friends. The range of interests covered by the courses on offer is generous and attracts returning visitors every time. It is not a 5 star hotel, but it offers so much more in other ways. This year's was our fifth visit and will...

We returned this June 2016 as we had such a wonderful holiday last year and were not disappointed. Sadly the weath was not kind but I can honestly sat it did not spoil our enjoyment of this lovely location and although rather wet with some thunder it was not cold. Bonjour and thanks for your lovely review of your stay with us at the chateau this summer. It's a shame when the weather doesn't do what we want it to, but hope you get a good run of the sun next time you visit us :-)

I have visited L'Age Baston several times over the last fifteen years, doing a tutored painting course, each stay being most enjoyable. The food, cooked by Alex, the Hostess is always fresh, beautifully served and utterly delicious without being too rich or too filling. I always look forward to the local rose wine served at lunchtime outside, under a sunshade accompanied...

l'Age Baston is pleasant and minimally furnished in traditional style. Its courtyard and immediate small grounds ( when tended) are charming, the pool area basic and views uninspiring. A pleasant guest house with good cuisine. My 'bland' diet was excellently catered for by Alex. Sadly France had had bad weather and the house was freezing with no wood burners burning,...

Thanks for your feedback. We are so pleased that you really enjoyed your French lessons and found Alex’s cooking for your specialised diet to be excellent. We are however very sorry that you got the impression that French was spoken at all times at the Chateau. As a multi-course centre hosting predominantly English speaking guests, English is usually spoken at...

L'Age Baston never fails to delight - this was our fourth visit over many years, which says it all! Alex, John, Mark and El are the loveliest people on the planet - we had an absolute blast as usual and the two friends we took, enjoyed it as much as we always do.

An idyllic location, in the heart of rural France, close enough to towns and villages for sightseeing. The chateau is a fantastic and full of character. As has been said many time our hosts are excellent and do everything to ensure everyone has a good time. Prices are all inclusive, no further payments, which is great. Lunch and evening meals...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
L'Age Baston is a beautiful, friendly Chateau in South West France that provides relaxing holiday courses. Once home to generations of Counts and Countesses, it soaked up sunshine and history for over seven hundred years and then 'fell to the English'. The owners; Alexandra and John, breathed new life back into the house. Saving, restoring and creating an idyllic setting for our unique combination of holiday courses in France. You can come on a Painting course or improve your French Language with one of our two French Language Courses. Enjoy a week learning about French Country Cooking (and eating and drinking), or stride off on Guided Walks into the clean air and green of the Charente Countryside. ... more   less
