We arrived at night and were welcomed by candlelight in the silence of nature. The rooms are spartan, but large and comfortable. Our room did not have air conditioning and was a bit humid, but the philosophy of this place lies in the magical atmosphere and in the courteous and personalized service. The breakfast is super good and super healthy. For dinner I tried the chicken curry and it was yummy! The hotel (agriturismo) has seven rooms, a large garden and a small swimming pool, guests are quiet and discreet. If you are looking for a place away from the chaos of ibiza town, with a slow and relaxed mood, this hotel is for you.

I have been meaning to write this review for a while. Bibi and her team are unbelievable and we had the most wonderful stay just after New Year with our two small children. They upgraded us to the most incredible 2 bedroom suite. I spent the whole stay asking where all their incredible interiors are from.
The breakfasts were to die for and the evening meals too. It feels very private and secluded but at the same time you can socialise with other guests if you want to. Bibi was on hand for recommendations to do on the island and her husband makes the most delicious food. They were such amazing hosts.
Every part of this place is beautiful. Thank you so much for having us!

Can Sastre for me & my family was nothing but exceptional...from arrival to breakfast to gin & tonics by the pool, pure heaven. The hosts are so welcoming & just make you feel like your at home. Its so easy to get to Ibiza town, santa gertrudis, san rafael! You really feel a true taste of Ibiza!
We highly recommend this hotel, one of our favourite getaways on the Island!

Nothing like the carefully curated photos -

Comments about location & poor state of garden absolutely accurate .

We booked online on their website , decided not to stay and were offered not to be charged 50% balance due , but this was not honoured .

The number of excellent reviews are not an accurate reflection .

Need to read all for true picture

Nice rooms and friendly staff, however the whole property not well kept and pretty unmaintained (even for a “rural hotel”). The noise from the street is loud and kills the serene atmosphere. The pool is rather small. The owners can make so much more out of the huge gardens if they would hire a gardener to at least occasionally cut bushes and plants.

Fantastic place with very genuine Ibicenco vibe and great service by Bibi and her team. Starting from an exquisite breakfast that beats best I had in LA, NYC, Tulum or London, through lazy time at the pool with attentive yet discrete staff. And last but not least the massage by an amazing therapist. Must-go for any fans of true classy laidback and private Ibiza.

I contacted trip advisor's customer service before writing this review since I never made it to the hotel actually. But they said that I can go ahead and write the review in order to help fellow travelers.
I contacted the owner of this hotel, by phone, on a wednesday evening, after reading the reviews on trip advisor. I made a reservation and at the time, he told me that normally he would ask for a deposit but since our arrival date would be 9 days later, he just needed a credit card number. So I gave him the credit card number, and 5 minutes later he sent me an email, telling me that he had charged 30% of our stay, and informing me about car rentals and how to reach the hotel. Nowhere was his cancellation policy written or mentioned as it usually is when a reservation confirmation is sent to a customer.
Less than 40 hours later, on friday afternoon, I called him and told him that we wouldn't go finally, and asked me to refund me the deposit. He accepted to refund me. But then he sent me an email and said that he talked with his wife and that the cancellation policy, listed on their website states that for cancellation in less than 21 days the deposit would be withhold!
I told him that I didn't make the reservation in a time frame longer than 21 days and that anyway I didn't make the reservation through his website and I didn't know this policy. Additionally, he never informed me verbally or written about this policy at the time of reservation. He started quoting the policy only after I called him to cancel!
I have kept all the written communication between us that proves what I am saying and I also asked my lawyer to send him a letter telling him that what he is doing is unethical and unprofessional. But he still refuses to refund me.
I read all the trip advisor reviews about this place but honestly the way this man behaved doesn't reflect what is written.
Beware, do not give your credit card number unless you are absolutely sure you are going. Otherwise you risk to lose a lot of money. And be treated in an appalling way.

I booked Can Sastre as a special treat to myself after an operation. At over 360.00 Euros per night, I expected great things. Sadly although the place itself was beautiful, nice room with terrace, nice toiletries, good quality bed linen and towels, lovely pool area with small bar, the service was patchy, lazy and sometimes non-existent. Before I even arrived they moved me from the room I had booked, because another guest requested it, and put me in a small, out of the way 'house', which was some distance from everyone and everything else. I felt they could have compensated me for this once I had arrived, but it was never acknowledged. The current owners, a young dutch couple, have just taken the place over, after running a beach bar in town. I communicated with the wife, but sadly she was away during my stay. Another issue was that I felt at a slight disadvantage being English, as everyone else seemed to be Dutch. Usually not a problem, but here I felt a little excluded, which was strange as I travel alone all the time and have never felt like this. From the moment I arrived I felt there was a lack of care towards guests that just got worse as time went by. Ibiza is infested with very aggressive mosquitos and no coils were ever lit (after the first evening), I had one outside my room, but there was no lighter! I had to walk up the the house to look for one, which meant I got bitten to death on the way! I couldn't find one anyway, so had to sit inside my air-conditioned room in the eve's to avoid them! There was also a lot of confusion about other services provided; prices were missed off menus, times for getting food were not written down, there was no way of contacting anyone while in your room, there were times when there was no-one there at all, apart from me, and other guests, sometimes just me. There was no evacuation plan, no emergency contact numbers - the feeling I got was that they would prefer their guests to leave for the day, rather than stay and use the pool area. As a single person, in need of some much needed r&r I had stated from the time of booking that I would not be leaving the hotel and would therefore need all meals on site. Sometimes I went hungry because I could not find the chef (or indeed anyone) to make me lunch, or dinner. Sometimes even when I pre-booked a meal I did not get it, because the chef forgot, or was eating with the owner. I felt uncomfortable asking him to make food for me too. There was also a bar menu, cocktails, smoothies, but no bar person. They run an honesty bar, which would normally be rather nice, but here it was just because no-one could be bothered to stay near the bar! My check in and check out were not professional at all. I was never given a key or a gate opener (this was also the case for another couple) and one day we found ourselves unable to leave because we could not open the gate! I was never able to lock my room. I did not know until the end that I was even supposed to have a key, having never been there before I thought it might be a key-less place? No itemized bill was given to me, just a hand written list, which was not accurate! An honesty bar has to work both ways! I sat in a garage to pay and then waited for my taxi (organized myself) to take me to the airport. To be 100% honest I was glad to go. I wrote to the owners afterwards, detailing my experience there and all my feelings about the place, I travel a lot, and have even managed a 10-bedroom luxury boutique hotel myself, so I do know about luxury, and running hotels, and although I got a response to this message, when I asked for a very small refund (44 Euros) for the drinking water I was charged for, and perhaps as a gesture of goodwill for the room move and patchy service, a refund for one of the meals I did eat, I was told that they would get back to me, but they never did. Even a reply saying they would not refund me anything would have been better! I do feel that the place has the potential to be gorgeous, but first it needs to know what it is. Its not big enough for families to share with couples, as the pool is very small and there are limited places to sit. If its a B&B they need to state that, if its a luxury boutique hotel service needs to improve 1000%. I paid over £1200 for my stay and left disappointed and feeling that I had made a big mistake going there. The following week I went to the Venice Film Festival and I paid 366 Euros for my beautiful one bedroom flat (airbnb) with a garden for 5 nights! I won't be going back to Can Sastre, or Ibiza. A pity, and a galling waste of money.

My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights at Can Sastre hotel in September. The area, rooms, pool and views.. are amazing. We booked the Deluxe room which was very large and so beautiful. The king size bed was excellent and bathroom was very nice. The place is magical and the rooms, pool area is luxurious and very charming decorated. Breakfast was very nice also. There was no buffet but a menu with healthy brunch-dishes. The only thing why I would not go back to Can Sastre is because I missed the service a five star accommodation should provide. The hotel is run by a Dutch couple who (in my opinion) are not very warmhearted. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a closed gate with no bell so we needed to look-up the numbers and call the owners. It was a pity that we were not informed about this. The host was also not very helpful with our luggage. I missed a hairdryer in our room and found no person to ask for it because they are not really around the place.. They work with an honesty bar which is nice but it was in my opinion overpriced. (3 gin tonics + 1 beer = €49). There is very much potential in this hotel but I missed a wauw-feeling.

Can Sastre is a wonderful mountain retreat in the middle of no where and in the heart of everything . Dead centre of the island you can be anywhere you want to be in 15 mins ...if you really must .

That's the thing , you will come with plans to see this , drink that there across the Island but you'll soon come to realise the best of everything is right where you are ...

John and Michi are less like owners , more like hosts . The type of hosts that don't stay up late for their guests - more the other way round - they enjoy the company as they sit within this little idilic slice of the best there is ...

Everything just works so well and so much thought has gone into every tactile surface ( bleached white floorboards , mosaic pebble shower floors , the amazing beds and wonderfully cool linen ...) ... The smells are floral , the mood is shabby chic but never shabby , there are more mosquitoes at home than there ever will be here ( John has wonderful coy Carp here for the sole purpose of munching mozzies ... Like I said - someone's had a good think about what works ) .

There are four very large suites , all individually appointed , cooled by the thick white walls of the former barns ...

The pool area is shaded by huge palms , a picturesque water feature that bubbles in the background all day mixing seamlessly with the chilled out tunes coming from the small bar . An honesty bar - weird at first then just obvious thereafter ...

Loads of really comfy beds ( more than you would ever manage to fill if every suite was to be occupied . ) scattered around the pool and adjacent to an Orange and Kemon grove ...

John greeted us at the gate with the three gorgeous doggie companions , Blue ( she has a Bowie- esque thing going on with her eyes ). , Big ( who isn't ) and Spirit ( who I can confirm does not resemble a bottle of Tequila ) ... He handed us a key but more so he had something to attach the fob fir the gate to . No need to lock anything , no safe - no need .

This is a place that when you ask when's lunch the reply is ' when do you want it to be ' . Which then leads you to wonder what's on the menu - met with - ' what would you like ' . My advice is to just go with ' surprise me '. Michi takes genuine delight in sourcing not only the best ingredients but then handling , preparing , cooking and presenting the most amazing dishes .... I've never been anywhere with food this good - genuinely done with a lot of love and a brilliance many a Michelin star chef could learn from ... No I'm not kidding .

John and Michi are no where to be seen and yet everywhere you need them to be at just the right time ... When the 5 steps to the bar are too much for you John will magically pop up to check you if you need a top up ...

They know everywhere to go and as importantly where not to go on the island - delve ...

Meal times are a feast , not just of food but conversation also . You could be sat with anyone from anywhere and John and Michi are the most subtle and clever conversational hosts you could ever meet . They will disarm the most insular individual and you slowly finding yourself loving it ...

The best endorsement of anywhere is how often people chose to come back , again and again ... SEVENTY percent of the bookings here are repeat ' friends ' ( guests ) - wow .

We will be adding to that percentage without doubt .

Forget therapy , this isn't a place you come to read a book - this could be a place you come to write one .

Thanks John and Michi - we loved every minute - back soon ...
