Top location, quality environment, beach nearby
Calm room
Staff does the job but not smiling
Neither welcoming
Cleanliness of average rooms and limited bathroom, outdated towels, clean sheets
But stained
In short, decent, nothing more.

Very good location, very friendly welcome and great value for money. Equipment a little outdated but sleeping with the sound of the waves in a quiet place is super pleasant! The Caravelle peninsula and Tartane are magical places!

Pleasant location, garden and swimming pool.
However, unwelcoming and accommodating staff. We had an early morning excursion and even with advance notice we were not able to have breakfast a little earlier even though we paid. We feel like we're bothering you when we ask for something.
What can we say about the rooms… dirty… dilapidated bathroom. Moldy joints in the tiny shower…smell of wood fire in the accommodation…
Windows that are not... so thank you mosquitoes... and what can we say about ecology...
Air conditioning in the rooms but with just shutters for windows... well worth putting a paper in the bathroom to tell us that the towels are not changed every day out of concern for the planet.. we have to be consistent to the end.
there is a lot of insulation work to be done in each room in this regard.

Despite a high-end telephone reception, totally deplorable support....An idyllic place in Authentic Martinique.
A reservation 6 months in advance with specific criteria, validated by the contact person.
For a family of 4, you will find yourself in a dust cellar, without storage, without a dryer, and incomplete dishes. An incomparable downgrade.
The icing on the cake is "Tiffany", the audacious interlocutor as ever does not take the trouble to apologize but displays assumed bad faith...

Certainly we will not set foot there again because it seems that despite our setbacks the Manager still has not given any news.

Bed & Breakfast Hotel
All 25 bungalows (they call them studios but I think bungalows describes them more accurately) have air conditioning, some have ceiling fans, all have TVs, telephone, private kitchenette outside, private shower & toilet and the most incredible island breezes possible.
The hotel is located on the peninsula known as La Caravelle and looks down on the only surfing beach in all of Martinique.
It's owner is a lovely young lady (who also happens to be an avid surfer) who's first name happens to be "Oceane" (hence the hotel's name). Their website www.residenceoceane.com also gives you a LIVE cam view of the ocean from the lobby terrace.
The employees who work the front desk are very helpful. The hotel is located on a peninsula facing east at the Atlantic Ocean close to fabulous restaurants, the archaeological site of Chateau Dubuc and 5 minutes from the seaside village of Tartane. It has a fabulous swimming pool which has an unobstructed view of the ocean. The hotel provides a change of linen and cleaning of the rooms once a week and trash removal on a daily basis. Personally I don't need my room cleaned daily and I can make my own bed without a problem - I prefer keeping my privacy. The continental breakfast cost 6 euros p/person/day and is absolutely delicious. It consists of cafe au lait or tea, croissants, little rolls or chocolate filled croissant dough, butter and delicious locally made marmalades and an incredible variety of fruit juices. The total staff number about 5-6 and are some of the most helpful and charming people I've met.
The flora and fauna, hummingbirds and singing frogs are just precious !!
Only one thing... you'd better speak French - otherwise "rotsa ruck".

This "hotel" is located on a beautiful, mountainous peninsula, more than half of which is a nature preserve. It's surrounded by beaches, too many to name, and just above a quaint fishing village called Tartane.

The environment is unspoiled, and truly spectacular and the hotel offers incredible views and is just a short walk down a steep road to surfers beach or a short (winding) drive to other beaches and Tartane. It's a beautiful mixture of French style and laissez-faire and Caribbean "no problem" - don't bring a lot of nice clothes.

For us, that's what matters - it's quiet, simple and spare and for the price is very affordable

Also important to know what you are not getting: very little English is spoken, the rooms are plain and simple and Oceane is less of a hotel and more like an apartment rental with an amazing view.

USA guests who have never spent time in the Caribbean might challenged by their expectations - things are well worn but for the price it's well worth the trade offs - we can't wait to go back!

The staff is lovely, there are several excellent restaurants nearby (Le Ratelot and Mamy Nounou's) and some good ones too (Le Phar, CoCo, Le Jardin) nearby or in Tartane (and excellent smoothies at ITA surf shop right near Oceane). See our other notes on restaurants.

Had fun in finding this place - many thanks to other Trip Advisors whose directions were essential - signage and winding roads makes finding your way in the dark challenging!

Caveats: you WILL need a car, very little English is spoken here, this area is an hour from the airport on small roads. Groceries are sparse but Tartane has small street vendors and fisherman selling their wares every day too.

Other things to see: Le Robert bay is wonderful - rent a guided boat - we loved George and his boat Big Deal. Stop in Le Robert for groceries at the Casino (not kidding - it's a US sized mega store). Go east and north for the rainforest, go south for turtle viewing, west for dolphins and whales and always double the time you think it will take to get there - it's mountainous.

Many thanks to Bettina and staff at Residence Oceane - we'll be back!

This hotel is located in a very remote area, at the end of the road on the peninsula. It is 20 to 30 minute drive to the main town of Trinite. The small village of Tartane has very limited services all of which were closed on Monday evening; no restaurants were open so you need to bring your own food or buy a snack at the gas station…

The Oceania Hotel is simple and basic; the room was small but clean; only one towel and no soap/shampoo; the kitchenette unit was outdoors on the small patio with a plastic table & chair, not a great place to cook dinner when it is stormy…

The view was nice but there is nothing much to do at the hotel other than the swimming pool. The beach/surfing area is a 10 minute walk…

The internet did not work in our room, you must go to the lobby and even then it was intermittent and very slow…

The receptionist did not speak much if any English so communications was difficult. We would not recommend this hotel unless you are looking for a remote get away in a self –contained environment…

My girlfriend and I stayed at Residence Oceane for 1 week during April. We are from the United States and speak little French which obviously makes traveling throughout Martinique more challenging but the resort staff was very patient with our broken french. This hotel is a fantastic value and is just steps away from a gorgeous surf beach. This was one of the most beautiful beaches that we encountered throughout our month of traveling on 4 islands throughout the Caribbean. If you enjoy surfing then this hotel is perfect! There are several surf board rental shops near the hotel that also provide private lessons. Tartane is the local town that is beautiful with several great restaurants. The countryside of the peninsula is one of the most beautiful areas of Martinique. The hotel is as depicted in photos. It was simple, not luxuriant, but clean and nice. You have a large private balcony that has a sink and stovetop, with pans and dishes provided. There is a refrigerator within the room. There is also a hammock on the balcony. The hotel serves breakfast which is delicious but is exactly the same everyday. You will be served croissants and baguette with an assortment of jams and nutella, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, juice, and coffee. I highly recommend that you get a rental car in order to access the rest of martinique and to access Tartane, which is not within walking distance.

The faster you realize the difference in hotel ratings on Martinique (vs. US), the better. This hotel was perfect for a 2-night stay at the beginning of our week-long trip. The bedroom has a/c and the outdoor kitchenette was great for breakfast overlooking the ocean and pool. You'll have to supply your own beach towels. Thank you to everyone who provided detailed directions in past reviews, as well as the suggestion to stop at the Geant Casino in Le Robert on the way for supplies (drinks, breakfast, beach towels). We didn't try the breakfast (10€ each) but it looked fairly standard for a continental breakfast - juice, yogurt, fruit, croissants. Perfect location for exploring the northern end of the island.

It would take over a half hour to walk to any grocery stores from the hotel. As for nightlife, a few people might walk to the surfers beach & picnic, but that could be unsafe. There is one small bar up the hill, maybe a 5 minute walk. You go right past it, has a lighthouse on the sign, they had sort of an open air patio, and serve seafood. Many seem to turn in early, we didn't find much in the way of live music. Tartane had a few cafe's that may stay open, but that would be a long walk on dark, winding roads with no path, or a 5 minute ride. The staff at the front desk were very helpful, they could help with suggestions, rides, etc. nightlife seems to be over in Fort De France, or around the Cruise ship port. This is a sleepy little hotel once the sun goes down!

Hello, Yes most of the place in Martinique and more on tartarne accepts the credit card. However, do not forget to take cash, because some shops, even if they are rare, do not accept the credit card. I hope to have answered your question. Yours. Cordially. René-Pierre

Hello, The residence Océane can organize a transfer from the airport to the hotel without problem at the rate of 55 euro. Moreover for late arrivals we put the keys at your disposal and the driver will be able to indicate your room and give you more information. I hope I have erased all your fears. Yours. Cordially.
