Hotel Cap Macabou has top-notch, friendly and accommodating staff. The grounds are gorgeous for the mountainous region! Rooms are rustically basic, but bed mattress was tempurpedic and comfy! The pool is awesome and located just outside the restaurant/bar area. Breakfast and dinner were local and fantastic! A special kudos to the fantastic kitchen/bar staff...we came in famished our first night shortly after dinner ended, and the wonderfully kind staff "scrounged up" a delicious meal of soup, salad and breadrolls for us as a courtesy meal, bless their hearts! You can't get better service than that!

We have selected this hotel for a three day stay at the end of our sailing trip on Martinique. The hotel is located close to one of the most beautiful beaches of Martinique at Cap Macabou. Also, the hotel is located ideally to explore the beautiful south of Martinique.
The hotel itself was very comfortable. The room was very clean and air conditioned. It had a balcony with a fridge and a microwave. The swimming pool is close to the bar and a walkway leads to a beach that is unfortunately full of sea grass. It is better to walk/drive to the nearby beach at Cap Macabou. The kitchen was excellent. We had the saturday night all you can eat and drink (!) buffet dinner with a large selection of food. Also breakfast was good.
A few negative points are the lack of a second key for the hotel room, the very bumpy road to the hotel and the maintenance of the hotel beach which should be cleared of sea grass regularly.

We needed hotel only for one night before our flight, we book it because it was supposed to be like 15 km from the airport and we liked the idea of having the swimming pool. Well, 15 km was much much longer trip, but the pool was great;)
We had rooms with nice terrace and view on the beautiful garden. Rooms very simple but clean and comfy, but maybe to simple if you would spent a large part of your day inside (which IMHO with that garden outside and a pool would be a waste of time).
We had some problems on the beginning which were mostly caused by the fact that only a few people understood English, but after that it turned out the hotel was a good choice. We enjoyed good dinner, breakfast and lunch. I was specially magnified by the gardens beauty.
I would say it is a good choice for families or people who are looking for a quiet place far from city. I enjoyed my stay, even if so short.

I had come to spend a good day with my friends, we had been very very disappointed with the day. Access to the hotel is very complicated.First of all a not at all welcoming staff bordering on disrespect 😤. Access to the pool area and the beach is almost suicidal due to poorly secured boards we almost had sprains several times. The pool is dirty we do not even see the bottom of it. The bathroom smells very bad. The place is very badly maintained which is execrable for the setting in which the hotel is located, the furniture provided is bad.
Lunch service was unpleasant , cutlery was not put on all tables. We had noticed and we took a burst by the staff. The meal was either overcooked or undercooked with a lack of salt , the dessert was not homemade , too loud and unpleasant music accompanied us along the meal 😒. The attendants were dirty and cracked. Someone came to get rid of us when we weren't FINISHED. Even chocolate bread butter was not good!!!
The only positive about the hotel: The pool area
Too bad the hotel is in an idyllic setting.😔
Finally to conclude I would say that it is a disrespectful staff, a poorly maintained place and bad food.
I definitely do not recommend (friend advice) go your way.

Lamentable.
Nocturnal and daytime noise in this establishment. We even contacted the national gendarmerie to intervene because despite our requests they did not lower the sound and the bass...85 decibels at minimum measured...and where is the mandatory sound limiter (by law)? FYI, it cuts everything at 60 decibels. I also notified the ARS which deals with these problems.
If you want to have a good time, go somewhere else. This is real advice!

Our stay in Hotel Cap Macabou was to end a great month long trip through the Caribbean. I booked several months in advance, and as time went on, I noticed several bad reviews on Trip Advisor. I filtered these reviews and prepared myself for the bad road, the bad food and the bad music. I splurged for the ocean view and figured we'd eat out and stay on the balcony. What we encountered, however, was truly shocking.

We arrived just after 3pm after being hit by a huge rain storm on the beach. When I approached reception, I was initially ignored by the person until an observer called her to pay attention to me. She told me to find someone at the bar... which I had to find myself. At the bar, someone told me I couldn't get the keys till 4pm and to ask the soaking wet, cold, kids to wait at the bar (and yes, the music is horrific). At 3:50pm the person with the keys showed up, but told us to wait until 4pm. When it was finally time, we had to wait in line behind everyone else.

I was handed my keys and the map, and confirmed that I had an ocean view. My husband went to check it out, came back and told me there was no view. I translated for my husband and was told again that there was a pool and ocean view. (A total lie to my face). When I confronted the reception again, I was told that it was a "panoramic view of the garden" and that I still had to pay the higher rate as there were no panoramic ocean views available. When I told her I prefer to downgrade to the garden view so that at least I was not paying for something that was not being offered, she told me it would be "problematic" because of the extra cot: the housekeeper being gone... blah blah blah.

Rather than waste any more of the last 2 days of my vacation and have the hungry kids howling on top of everything, I paid up and excepted the situation for what it is: clearly Hotel Cap Macabou views its guests as fools.

The room itself is tiny and the balcony lacks ambiant noise (because it is not near the ocean! ha ha ha) so you can hear your neighbours breathe. And since this hotel seems to cater to large family groups, you will be hearing a lot more than that into the wee hours. Luckily I brought ear plugs.

Let me share a few photos I took and you can judge for yourself:
The pool area: ALL the cushions were in disarray and moldy
The view: I guess the one perk is that the scenery changes depending who parks in front
The kids' beds (extra 50 euros per night for both): Really? Under the microwave!? The curtains to the right belong to the patio door which is totally blocked by the bed.

I spent only one night at Cap Macabou before leaving Martinique. I booked this hotel because it is very close to Le Marin. The rooms are a bit too rustic for me but very clean. The pillows were not too comfy but for one night it wasn’t a big deal. We had dinner at the hotel, the food was acceptable. The staff instead was great, trying to help and make you feel really good. The beach is not maintained but it did not bother me as it was a short stay.

The Marabou is a little bit remote set amongst the sugar and banana plantations in the south of the island - one needs transport to explore. There is no beach here, just a little landing stage and some rocks but the position is beautiful. However, one can just relax in one's comfortable apartment and enjoy the sun and silence (apart from the crickets and tree frogs at night). The dining is limited but takes place on an open veranda. Breakfast is a delight as one helps oneself from the buffet and looks out from one's table towards the sea or gardens.

We spent three nights last week there. Just want to add some support to some earlier reports. Yes, it is off the main road, which is rough but I found worse roads. The beds are comfortable, it is quiet, except on Sunday's. The breakfasts were good but I would avoid the dinners, so we would go out for lunch and have a light dinner in the room, from our frig. Overall it is a very clean, modest hotel and a good value.
