I couldn't believe there would be a lodge this great out in seemingly the middle of nowhere. When our guide pulled onto the property I thought it was a private Hacienda. Great pool and Hot Tub. We had supper and breakfast, both meals were excellent.

We stayed at the Hosteria for one night, and near the Quilotoa is the best place. We stay at the suite, and was very good. Probably the thing that was bothersome were the dogs making noises at the middle of the night but otherwise the service was very good. The breakfast was excelent. and the people very friendly.

nice location, good rooms but not worth the high price. pool area a bit dirty. very poor service in the overpriced restaurant. we waited 45 min. for a beer and a sandwich and 1 hour for a simple pasta with pesto while friends of the kitchen personal who came later had been served inmediately. a local guide who was organized... a warm and smiley welcome from the sister of the owner who gave us the full tour and proudly introduced the spa section. We stayed one night in a room were everything seemed made locally - interesting although not always efficient. It was fun and different. We feared the noise of the parking lot but the dogs were more efficient... More

Nice hosteria. We stayed 2 nights when visiting Cotopaxi/ Quilotoa lake. Rooms are small though, as well as the the queen beds for a western size person. Jacuzzi and pool very good. Food fair and Staff friendly.

The place is really nice but far away from Quito, the landscape is gorgeous. The food was good, not the best, but good. The pool was cold and since the weather is a bit windy, we couldn´t get in eventhough is inside a cottage. The jacuzzy was good. I didn´t like the milking of the cows tour, because the poor... More

We didn't have the opportunity to actually sleep here but we did get a full tour of the grounds, rooms and amenities plus we had lunch in the restaurant. This place is stunning! One of the nicest we had seen on our 30 day travels around Ecuador. The woodwork was out of this world. Everything was newly renovated, pool and... More

We decided to go to San José this New Year's Eve because we wanted to spend this day far away from the city to avoid traffic and noise. The road to the Hosteria is full of curves (some of them 180 degrees) and it is very narrow (sometimes only one car can go through), but it is in pretty good... More

Hosteria (or Hacienda) San Jose is tough to get to. The road up into the Andes is terrible. But any effort is worth it. A wonderful place with a great (if cold) pool, a sauna, and an on-the-grounds restaurant that is better than anything you could get to. The staff is friendly and helpful beyond expectation. I think the main... More
