The hotel is amazingly located and rooms and infrastructure were amazing. But the best part was how nice, friendly and professional all the staff were. I have a gluten intolerance and everyone went out of their way to accomodate my needs. The restaurante and bar had amazing food (breakfast very good but not to the same standared). I will definetly go back in the summer to enjoy the pools.
As already said in the title, the Hotel was a super good accommodation for a relaxing 1.5 days. It was clean and the hotel staff was really friendly :) we’ve been in a hotel room with river view and it was so worth it!! it felt really good to sleep and wake up there..bring your yoga equipment because this is the spot to do your morning yoga 😅 Also the hotel took good care of regulations due to covid-19 - this does mean you have to reserve a certain time for breakfast, lunch, dinner in the restaurants as well as going to the swimming pool (indoor since outdoor is not heated), gym and spa treatments so it feels a little bit like having an agenda. But in the end that’s how we were able to spend a bit of time in a hotel respecting the current situation. Before we arrived I read reviews of the hotel-intern restaurant “Raiva” and read also good but also bad comments. The design and atmosphere in the restaurant (as well as hotel) were modern and relaxing. In our case I really liked my food, my boyfriend not so much, so I think it depends on what you order. And if you’re trying to decide on a dessert and are not allergic to nuts, I recommend you to order “a noz” (means the nut). It was so good!! I have to admit though, that the dinner service could have been a bit faster. When it comes to breakfast, you’re ordering à la carte from plenty of options and it is really good as well. Make sure to bring your phone because all the menus are found via QR code. Regarding activities around the hotel I wish the hotel would have had more info displayed somewhere in the reception lobby. We asked and were kindly advised to two paths that there were but other than that I can’t really say if there’s much to do other than relaxing. So if you’re expecting to see what you saw in the ads about Douro Valley, you won’t. For that you would have to visit other cities in the inner country (more to the East) along the Douro River. All in All I liked our trip and stay at the Douro41 hotel because we wanted to relax and that is definitely possible at this place!!…
Gorgeous property. Beautiful in the winter but I dare say exceptional closer to summer. Great outlook to the river. Architecture is on point and well thought throughout. Get a car to explore neighboring areas like Alto Douro which is about 1.5 hours away
1. GENERAL: The hotel seems to be a butique hotel with nice pictures on the homepage, with personal touch and customer service. At the end it is a big hotel, with no personal touch. 2. CHECK IN: I have visited hundreds of hotels in my life and first time in history of my life, we didnt have the room ready at 15:40, after waiting for an our in a bar. If we knew it - we would stay in Porto longer. So we had to leave to hotel for sightseeing as our room was not ready. The reception has informed us at 14:50 - your room will be ready soon, please wait a "little bit". So we came back in the evening and didnt have the chance to enjoy the hotel as we booked for one night - by the way thanks God - just one night. 3. SPA: after arriving in the spa, there was no person at the spa reception - we waited for 10 minutes , after we called the reception to send someone. We had to call them as there were no towels on the beds. 4. RESTAURANT: Quite expensive for what you get, the service is poor.. e.g. we ordered wine and during the whole visit we had to pour it by ourselves. The same with water. And this is a 5 star hotel. We ordered canelloni - we got a big peace of meat. No pasta at all. The quality of the food is average. By the way in the area of the hotel there are almost no restaurant - so you are dependent on this one. 5. ROOMS: the hotel and the rooms have a wonderful design, there is no discussion about it. When i booked the hotel i wrote to the hotel that we need a warmer room or set up the temperature "to warmer". When we arrived in the room - there was 20 degrees and their central air condition was able to achieve 22 degrees within few hours. 6. ACTIVITIES: there are not many options for activities around the hotel within 30 minutes driving. Check befor you book, so you are not disapointed. 7. CHECK OUT: we gave the feedback (to the manager) when checking out and they didnt care about it at all. They just listened to it - no motivation to care about the feedback. By the way, they are a 5 star hotel /this is what they told me at reception - by the way in their Google my business they communicate 4 stars - they should agree what they are/. The design is 5 stars, but anything else has in my opinion a 3 star level.…
The location of the hotel in Douro River is beautiful, perfect if you want a retreat and not to know the around area. The room is big and with 'that' view!! The food in the bar and restaurant are also good, a bit expensive for the area. Overall is was a good experience, but the hotel needs to improve some things to give you the feeling of a 5* hotel, in the spa treatments for instead and some cleaning details.
