I attended the Cactus and Lotus Wellness retreat hosted by Diana at the beginning of September. Where to even begin. Sky Story B&B is a historical home in Val Marie that has been renovated and decorated with much love and care. The artwork of Diana, as well as other Saskatchewan artists, shines throughout the home. I stayed in the Sky Room, which has two twin beds and a beautiful sky blue paint colour. The Sky Room was very comfortable for me, and after a three night stay the place felt like home. Diana made me and all the other retreat participants feel very welcome. Despite the many logistical details of running the retreat, Diana led with authenticity, compassion, and calm throughout. In my life I eat a very nutritious, whole foods diet, and all the food prepared by Diana was an absolute delight that was so delicious. I want to ask for the recipe for every dish she made, from the homemade organic granola with yogurt and oat milk to the sundried tomato, basil, and cheese omelette, to the gluten-free pumpkin apple loaf. All was served on interesting pottery with fruit and garnishes perfectly arranged, like a work of art. If you want to experience the beauty and power of Grasslands National Park and come home for the night to a host who will serve as a caring and knowledgeable guide, I highly recommend Sky Story. The Bison Wallow studio (where the intuitive painting portion of the retreat was held) is a great space for artistic exploration. We used the kitchenette area to warm up delicious leftovers and steep high-grade herbal teas while we were in the midst of the full intensity of our internal processing and artistic exploration. I highly recommend all that Sky Story has to offer, and I am so glad that I took the leap to spend the weekend there in Val Marie. …

We had a very nice stay. The Grasslands Park is beautiful. Our hostess, Diana was very accommodating. She had lots of information to offer and provided large and more than sufficient breakfasts. I knew what I was getting into, but the accommodations leave something to be desired. They are extremely clean and well stocked, but the room we slept in is split between a kitchen and a painting studio, which really didn’t provide for any cosy sort of comfort. The bed was a futon couch and has the predictable, futon mattress The bedroom where my daughter slept was a much nicer space, but also a large space lacking in cosiness and intimacy. Lighting needs work too Although things were not optimal we had a lovely time.

Diana uses her artistry in every aspect of the guest house experience. She was warm and informative from the moment my friend and I arrived. Her home, filled with art and floor pillows, is charming and comfortable. As others have noted, the breakfasts were healthy and delicious far beyond expectation! The beds and linens were lovely and the room had all that we needed. And I am grateful to Diana for the extra care and concern for an ailing guest.

Beautiful space, excellent hospitality, and kind reception from Diana. I really enjoyed that we stayed in a working studio and got to learn about the integration of art, culture, and wellbeing. Breakfast was very tasty .. the pancakes.... divine...the granola... unreal!

Extremely clean and quiet, beds are terrific, Diana makes wonderful breakfasts and caters to the food preferences of her guests. Diana's knowledge of the area is extensive. Stayed in the lovely Sage room 2 nights. Diana was very informative of the area. Breakfast was delicious 😋 both days. Great shower at the end of a long day outdoors. Peaceful environment. Stairwell up to rooms a bit narrow and steep was my only discomfort. Especially when using washroom on main floor in the middle of the night. May be a concern for some people.

I treated myself to Diana’s « Nature in Me » painting retreat and stayed 3 nights in the Bison Wallow Guest Room. Located within Diana’s artist studio, it is a private in-suite, cozy, comfortable and so tastefully decorated. I had also access to a fully equipped kitchenette. The setting is perfect for recharging one’s energy: peaceful, relaxing and inspiring. Before heading out, don’t miss out on Diana’s delicious, healthy breakfast. The park is only a short car drive, and a walk in the park made my short stay so memorable. Thank you Diana , you’re the most attentive and kind hostess.

Quiet cozy space conducive to meaningful conversations and encounters with other guests. Diana went above and beyond to welcome me and make me feel at home. I appreciated learning more about the region and the national park from the eyes of a local. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and the bed was so comfortable. 100% recommend, I left feeling inspired.

I stayed in the studio suite. The suite is cozy and really comfortable and the kitchenette is very well equipped. Breakfast at the main house was delicious, as was the in-suite continental breakfast. There has been great attention to details to make this a comfortable and relaxing stay after a day spent in Grasslands National Park.

My wife and I traveled to Val Marie from which to explore Grasslands National Park. We had a wonderful stay in the Bison Wallow room of Diana's B&B. This room is actually an entire building, part of which functions as Diana's studio. It's tastefully decorated with Diana's art and some artifacts from the area. It's comfortable and quiet. Diana makes an excellent, filling breakfast. She knows the area and can prepare an interesting itinerary for exploring the Grasslands and other towns. We lucked out on this trip, both in our choice of a place to stay and also in that the weekend we were in Val Marie was also the weekend of their annual rodeo (mid-September). We felt we really got to know the area!
