This was my first visit but I was not disappointed. A nice warm welcome, no rush laid back but everything was worth waiting for. Unfortunatly one of my party was unable to find anything suitable due to diet problems but the staff were very helpful in finding an alternative. Well done every body

We always regularly visit this place on the way back from the Peak District, but how it has changed unfortunately. A slightly scruffy interior matched only by the unclean cutlery and complete lack of ambience which was only made worse by the bright interior lights and dull brass work. The staff were very pleasant but the meals were very mediocre... More

Beautiful location. Friendly staff and food was OK. Bedroom was dark and dingy but comfortable. The whole place is in need of refurbishment. It's a bit like a nice pub/hotel from back in the 1980s. It could do much better by moving on with the times.

My wife and I had lunch from the £11.95 for 2 menu and we both thought it was very good value. I had steak pie and my wife had beef stroganoff and both meals were tasty and excellent value for money. We eat out on a regular basis and we have paid a lot more for a lot less. The... More

Stayed for one night during whitsun bank holiday. Staff generally ok apart from manager who needs customer service and manners training. We had misplaced the room key and politely asked for another one at the end of the evening. Only to be told there was no room keys available and there was nothing they could do about it!! After much... More

Looking at other reviews , you either get the place or you don't. The staff are great, friendly and open, the chef has a great understanding of flavour and lovely presentation, scallops were some of the best I've had in the area for a very long time, risotto fabulous, and a lovely rhubarb frangipan to finish off with. Well thought... More

This is a large pub with rooms. As such its ok, we were there for one night and spent < 7 hours in the place, it was fine for that but any longer stay would begin to get wearing. Its clean, staff very welcoming but an overall feeling of run down, keeping its head above water just. Room was fine,... More

The pub/guesthouse is quite large establishment with outdated decor it was moderately clean but lacked attention to detailed. The food was standard pub food so no surprises there however the breakfast was supposed to be continental but consisted of cereal coffee and 4 slices of toast without the slightest wif of a croissant. Friendly and helpful staff which made you... More
