Nope. Probably the second worst hotel I’ve stayed at. The restaurant is permanently closed. The bar claims to serve food…unless the cook has decided to go home. You can’t actually access your room from outside the hotel after 11 without going through the bar; I don’t know what you’re supposed to do after rebar closes. The only place I’ve stayed worse than here had rubber sheets on the mattress (true story).
First we had arranged a walk out room..we have a small dog and I need knee surgery. I talked to the staff on the phone, it was all arranged. The day of, everything changed… apparently they no longer take pets..but would accommodate us as we had booked prior…but it would be the second floor.. no pets on the first floor (should they not know their policy) Ok, fine, we excepted it … there was a fishing derby in town and rooms were scarce! We get to the room … it looks nothing like the pictures of a “queen deluxe”… it was missing one of the headboards, the mattresses were fixed with a piece of foam that wasn’t as big as the mattress…not comfortable! I doubt the comforters had been cleaned in a long time from what I saw. (I had my own blanket)The bathroom was super small and the tub did not drain… it was the most depressing room already… then there were the extremely loud people down the hall at 3AM! And…when I had called, I was told no charge for the dog… when I left, a $50 + tax was added to the bill ..which I had refunded! (I would never agree to pay $50 for a dog) What could the dog possibly ruin in a room that was already in very bad need of refurbishment? This is supposedly a 3 star property? I would go to a near by town then stay again!…
Stayed here again while visiting family in the area. The staff here are very accommodating and friendly. When the WiFi didn’t work in the first room we were checked into, we were promptly switched to another. It was very quiet during our stay, possibly because of Covid-19. The restaurant on site is Lucianos and we ate supper there 3 times over 2 different stays. The motel offered free takeaway breakfast each morning after preordering the night before. Homemade blueberry muffin, an egg, tomato and cheese English muffin, mandarin orange, yogurt and juice box in a convenient container. Excellent. The rooms are very clean but haven’t been updated since our visit last summer. The parking lot is still in rough shape in spots. But because of the great staff and superb restaurant we would definitely stay here again. …
I ignored the previous reviews for this motel as they are more than 2 years old. As we pulled into the parking lot, which is in need of some major repairs, and saw the outside of the motel and the lobby I was wondering if we made a mistake. But the woman who checked us in was very prompt and friendly and ensured us our room would be quiet despite a bar being onsite. And she was right. Even though we had the air conditioner on all night which does give some background noise, we never heard another guest, who were mostly work crews. Our room was spacious with new furniture and an updated bathroom, a coffee maker with several packs of coffee (there is no complimentary breakfast here), a good sized fridge and 3 chairs. The beds and pillows were new and very comfortable and everything was impeccably clean. Because this is a budget motel, the towels are on the smaller, thinner side but there were plenty. The cheap quality soap and shampoo pack made me glad I always travel with my own. But you get what you pay for. The only downside are the bedspreads and drapes. So dated. No hotel/motel uses bedspreads anymore. They should be washed after each guest and since you don’t know for sure if they are, I found them kind of icky. So the only true negatives are the parking lot and the bedspread/drapes. We stayed 5 nights and I’d definitely stay here again. …
There isn't much for accommodation options in Nipawin but this one was supposed to be the best of the lot for a reasonable price. Talk about a major disappointment. They're $10 more than a similar accommodation down the street in the Tobin Lake Motel. To compare the two, Kingfisher took forever to book, 10 minutes on the phone without being put on hold. While they recently kn stalled new flooring in the room, the rest is terribly dated. The mattresses and sheets are very old and uncomfortable. The window blinds are dated and don't cover the entire window. The only reason you would choose this place over the Tobin Lake Motel is that there is an on site restaurant and pub. That's about it. On August 21, 2017 this place has new management coming in. Hopefully they do something to improve the place.…
