Ratua Island is a wild, magical place with authentic people who offer a simple and warm reception in a naturally beautiful environment. The resort boast of its hand-crafted teak wood villas reconstructed from 200-year old traditional houses in Java and Sumatra. There are 14 Indonesian villas and 2 luxury safari tents, that have been specially reconstructed onsite offering stunning views with a private deck or beach. Located in the Vanuatu Archipelago, off the South East tip of Espiritu Santo, Ratua is only a 35-minute motorboat journey (weather dependent) from the mainland on our own motor launch. In enhancing guests' experience, Ratua offers wide selection of activities within the island. Swim with horses, Malo blue hole adventure, legend of Kava, are some of the unique offerings that guests enjoy. Most days guests enjoy standup paddle board, kayak, canoe, snorkel, and swim in calm Ratua bay. Alternatively, other guests walk/run around the private island to their hearts content.

I feel truly conflicted as i prepare to write this review. I want to keep this gem in paradise purely for our family! However, that's not fair, mainly because the owners of Ratua have restored my faith in humanity. Every penny of profit goes to the Ratua Foundation.com helping

We are so happy we chose Ratua for our last 3 nights in Vanuatu. After two and half weeks of action and adventure it was just what my family needed. There was enough there to keep the kids occupied, whilst also allowing myself and my husband some much needed rest and relaxation.

Hi Bernadetteroe, I dont have children, so probably not the best person to provide advice on this. There was a a family at Ratua when we were there and the children looked to be enjoying it. Me personal view is that while you and your partner may enjoy Ratua, this is an open island with no fences to stop little children wandering off, this may mean you have to be on guard/alert the whole time. The breach area is safe for little childrem and there is a games room and movie theatre for enjoyment. I would recommend getting in touch with the manager, Bong, or the owners, Leah and Brett, and discussing the island and amenities. I found them to be super responsive to email when I planned my holiday there. Regards Des

We didn't stay in the tents but a family that did loved them and chose not to move to a villa when one was available. They were glamorous tents! We also did the Malo Blue Hole and it was beautiful. I shared a kayak with my husband and our two children (11 & 13) shared one. We also had a smaller motor boat for my in-laws who weren't up to kayaking. It took about 30 minutes to kayak to the Blue hole. on the way back we were paddling against the wind so the boat towed the kids on their kayak as it was a bit too hard for them. Try to pick a day where it's sunny to make the most of the blue hole and it's colour.

"Grand Beach Villa if you are a family of four, but actually it doesnt matter what you choose as they are all beautifully appointed,"
"Choose a villa that is further away from the restaurant. It is a bit of a walk, but they tend to have small beaches in front of them."
"We were in Bear which was about 500 steps away from the bar and dining area (and wifi) Pig was further away still."
"All villas look great, we loved Dragon for the space for 5 people and the position within the resort, on a beautiful bay for snorkeling"
"Each villa is appointed differently, Pig and Dog are the furtherest away from the bar / lounge / dining area, but offer the most privacy."
