It was the most amazing experience of my life. Fell in love with the bush and Africa. I’ve learned here a lot and become one with nature. It is really fun living with a group so diverse. I will defenitely come back!

I had been thinking about doing such project for a long time, I am really glad that I picked Askari. I stayed there for 6 weeks and time flew by so fast, I really wish I had stayed longer. Katie and Ed are awesome people, they have so much knowledge but they can also be really fun. The volunteer's house...

This has been something I've wanted to do for years now and I am so grateful I've had the opportunity to do it with Askari. It took me a while to find these guys on the internet but i'm so glad I took the time to find an organisation that really does care about wildlife and conservation, unlike a lot...

Thank you for this 2 weeks. It was a very beautiful experience. We were very lucky and saw a lot during the weeks. South Africa’ nature is amazing. I am glad to do useful work with a great team in a splendid area. I hope, one day, doing something like that again!

I looked through about 400 volunteer conservation projects around the world before narrowing it down to this one, and I'm really glad I chose Askari. It's extremely well run: Katie and Ed, especially, are excellent guides, professionals and people. There's an infectious enthusiasm about this place that will bite you, and you'll never quite recover. Be prepared for hard work,...

Thanks Paul A, it was such an amazing 2 months to share with you in the bush. Thank you for all the hard work, the chats and the good times and being such a great member of the team. We'd love to have you with us again someday....might as well put that lens to some more use right?!

Askari is a wonderful place, surrounded by fun and interesting people. You will work hard but get every job done with a smile, knowing you are having a positive impact on Pidwa and the conservation of Africa’s wilderness. The staff make you feel welcome straight away and fill you with knowledge you won’t easily forget. Their passion and love for...

I can't say more about my month at Askari as a volunteer. I was a bit skeptical at first about volunteering programs (I'm a mid-career professional) and perhaps not as in-depth as I wanted. The program exceeded my expectations! Katie and Ed lead the program and they do a brilliant job. They are so committed and enthusiastic about conservation and...

Thanks for the review Elise, it was so great to have you and Darren with us. Thank you for the kind words and it's easy to be a good teacher when we had such fantastic students like the Fortunate 5! Hope the onward travels are phenomenal.

As this was my first time volunteering, I debated for a long time whether or not to chose a globally known organisation instead of Askari. However, I am so happy I didn’t, because my month at Askari is one of the best experiences I have ever had, and one I will never forget! I volunteered alongside 4 others, which meant...

Thanks so much Kayleigh J for the review, you took the time to write so much! I never saw the photo of you on the tracker seat and the herd down the road in front of you, it's stunning! Thank you so much for being with us and for the great month we all shared. We'll see you and your...

I regularly do volunteer projects overseas, with a focus on wildlife/conservation. This project was the best I’ve done, and I’ve worked in Tonga, Indonesia, China, Thailand and this was my 4th trip to Africa. The framework was well set-up, the facilities way better than I’ve experienced before and it was ethically focused and not on income generated from the volunteers....

I first stayed at Askari in March 2016 and it was so good I had to return again before I left SA! I would encourage anyone to volunteer - I do not come from a conservation background but the programme is so informative and managers Katie and Ed so full of knowledge you leave feeling confident in the aims of...

“This is a volunteer program, with shared accommodation in a roomy house in a beautiful garden setting.”

“Being a hardened Irish girl I was fairly confident they don't know the meaning of 'cold' in SA. They do. If it's winter when you're visiting, bring track suit bottoms and hoodies to wrap up in in the evenings. Also, don't bother overpacking with shampoo and conditioner, as soon as you arrive in Hoedspruit you'll get the chance to go to a supermarket and pick up those essentials.”
