Africa trip ....this experience is a memory that will never be forgotten. We were lucky to have a game hunter in camp from Michigan. We were able to have some fresh harvested meat of Zebra, Waterbuck, and Roan Antelope that Marc Gereaux shot. We also had Wildebeest and nyala meat that Chef cooked up. The food was amazing n ever went away from the table hungry. Thanks to Mafigeni Lodge, Matt Mare guide, Chef (Jonnas) for a great week.
Laundry was done daily, meals were prepared to perfection with outstanding homemade desserts, activities and tours daily, drinks around the fire every night discussing the day, I think it was the best adventure we have ever been on. Five thumbs up 👍 this was really worth all we spent.
Go to Mafigeni.com if you are interested let me know we can talk. Less than $4000 a person all inclusive including airfare for 8 night Photo Safari. At least that's what is on the website. Might go up.
Hunter friends go to Marc Gereaux Facebook page and see what you could hunt. They also have a hunting Safari package.
Tell them Helen Fricke Sent you.

We just returned from one of the greatest trips I have ever been on. AFRICA is amazing. If you ever have a chance to go accept it. We had a fantastic guide....kept us busy everyday. Matt Mare (Thank you) Mafigeni was where we stayed, So serene, on the rustic side but had a real African feel but was a resort. They made you feel comfortable and like family.

If you ever want to try an African safari then this is the place to start! You are treated as part of the family from start to finish. Warmly welcomed on arrival by strangers to saying heart wrenching goodbyes to family at the end of the trip. The accomodations are excellent, with a typical african rustic vibe, with a free daily laundry service thrown in! The meals were excellent, good home cooking at its finest! Your safety is their top priority ensuring the best experience of a lifetime whilst taking part in the available tours......Jill and her staff truly made this an experience of a lifetime. Dont miss out!

I had a great time! It's the "home away from home" or something like that. I was on a 2 week, hunting and fishing trip so this lodge was the base of operations. I was in my own little lodge with electricity, running water (own bathroom), gun safe, A/C, ceiling fan, and tons of lights. Every night, someone turns on the lights for me and leaves a bottle of water which is useful in preventing next day dehydration.

Make sure you get a Braai which in Afrikaans is for barbecue or grill. It's not just a food thing. It's a social thing. I shot a Kudu (first one ever) and Alec, the hunting guide, made sure he got the backstraps for me to eat. On a fire, of course! They also do regular meats as well: sausage, beef, lamb chops, and even did a chicken rotisserie! The wood in South Africa is just simply different so they make for some great fire coals.

We met Jill at the Toronto Sportsman Show in March of 2023. Going on a safari in South Africa was something that we had never even thought about. After talking with Jill and hearing everything her safari offered, we decided to go for it. We are so glad we did! The lodge at Mafigeni is very rustic and comfortable. All the staff is very friendly and eager to make sure we had everything we needed, from great meals, to doing our laundry daily. Our guide, Paddy, was amazing. We spent 14 days with him and he kept us busy! The wildlife and scenery that we saw was beyond all of our expectations. We would highly recommend this adventure!

The photo safari with Mafigeni was one of the best vacations we’ve ever experienced. All our expectations were exceeded. We felt completely safe and the small family style atmosphere made it that much more enjoyable. All the staff were very friendly and met our every need. Every night we ate a different kind of game meat that Raven made absolutely delicious. Paddy our guide was awesome with his easy going attitude, knowledge and eagle eyes made our photo trip very memorable. Bottom line: We arrived and met strangers, we left as friends.

Mafigeni African Safari Lodge, what a memorable adventure of a lifetime !!!
South Africa is truly one of the most exciting and beautiful countries you could ever wish to visit. The abundant wildlife and mesmerising landscapes it has it all plusmore. For anyone who has never stepped foot on the African continent, (like me) it's the perfect choice for a first-time safari.

Jill and her team at Mafigeni are amazing people. The food is delicious, traditional and plentiful something for everyone. Accommodations are comfortable and beautiful inside and out. The complementary daily laundry is a real luxury we all felt spoilt :)

Herman our personal Guide, was amazing with his easy going yet always professional attitude, he went above and beyond to make our experience more than we could of envisioned. Plans were flexible yet seemingly customized to perfection.

I would 1000% go back to Mafigeni and recommend that you do too !!!!

From the moment you are met at the airport by your guide until he drops you off again, you are treated as family and royalty at the same time. The Lodge and lodgings were impecable and the daily laundry was fabulous.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable of the area and well versed in many topics of interest which made our rides through the country even more fabulous. He would ensure we were safe and comfortable from the start to the end of each amazing day, and we were back to the lodge for dinner each evening. There was a welcoming fire and drinks each evening and we could compare experiences with other guests.
The food at the lodge was diverse and very well prepared, and there was always more than enough to fill me up. The cook even baked a cake for my birthday !
We are already planning our next trip to Mafigeni Lodge to see more of this beautiful country and to engage further into the hunting opportunities that are available and enjoy more time with the amazing guides at Mafageni Lodge.

My sister and I recently returned from a two week trip in S. Africa. We really enjoyed our time at Mafigeni and getting to know the owners and staff. The guides are very knowledgeable and a lot of fun, and the home cooked meals were really good. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Hello! Thank you for your question. The better months for weather and game viewing I personally feel are June through October, possibly November. June through September is considered our winter, and temperatures range from 50 degrees in the mornings and about 70 degrees during the day. October starts warming up and you can expect 60 degrees in the mornings warming up to 80 and late October/ early November even into the high 80's low 90's. I hope the above meets with your approval. I look forward to hearing back from you! Regards Jill
