We found Casa Rio Blanco ("Cabinas in the canopy") as a very pleasant stop on our way back from the Caribbean coast to San Jose, CR. We chose it because it is located in the forest above the Rio Blanco and very close to Braulio Carillo National Park, where we wanted to bird in the morning. We were pleasantly surprised...

A unique and comfortable place to stay, especially when traveling from the Pacific to Caribbean coasts of Costa Rica. Our cabin was great, it was overlooking the wonderful Rio Blanco. A short hike to a private swimming hole in the river was nice too. Very secure and the hosts are very warm and inviting.

We stayed for one night on our route from Puerto Viejo to San Jose but wish I had time to stay longer. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. Our cabin was charming and cozy. The view breathtaking. Our host Annette cooked up some delicious chicken curry for dinner and kept us entertained for the night. In the...

Although we'd only planned to stay for two nights, we wound up staying for three. Our cabin sat well above the river on a band dense rain forest. When you walk out on the cabin's deck, you feel like you're smack in the jungle. The grounds themselves are lovely, and there's a trail down to the river. The meals were...

My sister and I stayed here for a night on the way to Puerto Limon. We were really tired after a long red-eye, and this was a perfect place to stay. The cabin was very clean and provided hot water, which was nice as I've heard it can get a little chilly in the mountains. The bed was also comfortable...

Me and my fiance stayed here our first night in Costa Rica on our way to Tortuguero. It was a perfect place to stay. The only thing that could have made it better is if we had stayed more than one night. Annette was such a gracious host and a wonderful cook. The dinner was fantastic and we purchased a...

this place is great. Annette and Herbie (the owners) are very friendly and enthousiastic. They care about their guests. It's a place near by a river and 1,5km away from the main-road. So it is very quit and in the middle of a jungle. When you finished your lovely diner and relaxe at your veranda, it's great to hear the...

We stayed for two nights in casa rio blanco, and loved the rainforest where we saw many birds. There's also a great river where we could take a swim in beautifully clear water. The lodge is decorated very nice, with a comfortable bed and warm water shower. Anette and Herbie were great hosts, we got a lot of information on...

We, like many others, stopped here on the way to the coast and couldn't have been happier---with everything from our bungalow to the beauty to the other guests staying there. Here's the real deal---this place is absolutely gorgeous and the owners, Herbie and Annette are the number one best proprietors anywhere. We had a bit of a car emergency, no...

Stayed here two nights at the beginning of the rainy season. If you are looking for high-end luxury, this is not the place for you, but if you want something rustic and Costa Rica-real, check it out. The cabinas are simple but clean and the setting is great; you really feel like you're in the jungle. The best part is...
