Our trip here was to do the gorilla and golden monkey treks at Volcano Nat'l Park. This lodge was within 15 minutes of the park. We arrived at the Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge in the early afternoon. Beautiful, lush grounds with tables around the place, set within a bamboo forest (I kid you not). There are individual little ‘huts’ there, but we stayed in rooms organized in a duplex fashion. LARGE rooms with fireplaces (they brought us wood at night and started a fire for us). It gets cool in the mountains at nite, maybe 50 or so. So at bedtime, the hotel staff had placed the most amazing hot water bottles inside of the beds to warm us up (really, they stayed warm through the night). The lodge there is beautiful—nice lobby with comfy couches and a couple of fireplaces. One fireplace at the couches and one over in the dining room. The staff, Valens is the manager there, was absolutely wonderful, helpful, nice---cannot say enough good things about them. We had choices of different foods, and ordered a couple of hours before the lunch or dinner (or the night before in the case of breakfast). Stayed there 2 nights. And even after we left for Tanzania, Valens contacted us by Whatsapp and asked how our trip in Tanzania was going. Le Bambou was so nice to let us use our rooms to shower and re-pack before leaving to go back to Kigali. And they fed us lunch without charging us more. Great place!

We couldn’t ask for anything better for a mid range lodge! Huge room with fireplace that was lit nightly and hot water bottles place while we were at dinner. Valance -the all around employee couldn’t have been more accommodating, friendly and helpful. We loved him. They cooked different dinners every night. Breakfast was as we ordered and we had a hot lunch everyday. It was quiet and we felt safe and well looked after. I’d stay here again! Highly recommend.

We had a 2 nights mini vacation/domestic tourism in Musanze-Kinigi a group of friends. We chose to stay at Le bambou gorilla lodge and it was one of the best decisions we made. Everything from the welcome to the food, the rooms were top knotch. The area is generally cold but the staff lit fires for us in the rooms and dining areas. Hot water bottles were provided in the beds. Everything that we asked was provided. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The manager Daniel was available at every turn. I would highly recommend. Hilda

Just finished 3 nights at Le Bambou and cannot recommend enough. The staff was great, the rooms excellent (hot water bottles in bed at night, staff makes you a fire in your room fire place). It is also a beautiful location nestles at the base of the volcanoes and extremely close to Gorillas and golden monkeys. Daniel the hotel manager was very attentive and an amazing host. We had very engaging and interesting discussions over local beer and around the fire each night about Rwanda, East African politics, and other various conversation topics. My time at Le Bambou was some of the most memorable time spent in Rwanda. I visited at the start of September in the midst of heightened COVID precautions. The staff was careful to ensure spaces were clean and sanitized. Rwanda is very much a safe country to visit in the time of COVID and it is worth it. While normally you would need to jostle for space in packed Gorilla treks of 8-10 people, my trek was only 3 people so there were plenty of opportunities for perfect photos and we were assigned a great group of gorillas. I was alone with the guide for the golden monkeys trek. I have never felt as safe with respect to COVID as I did in Rwanda. They are disciplined with testing (everyone gets tested on arrival and before visiting parks). The Rwandan population is much more disciplined about wearing masks than Canada or the USA. In the national parks, everyone must wear a mask to prevent spreading infection to gorillas and everyone must be tested and pass a temperature screen. While certainly travel during COVID can be daunting, I believe now is the time to go! Moreover, these communities need our tourism dollars to survive and the lack of tourists is hurting them. Be safe and get tested before you visit and take good health insurance, but I would not hesitate to take the trip of a lifetime and visit Rwanda. While there, stay at Le Bambou!

Very comfortable stay. We arrived at 1am in the morning and they were there awaiting our arrival. Got us our keys and made us a fire in our room as quick as possible to get us to bed as we had to get up early the next morning. Great staff!
