we were in Rome and we decided to see the snow in the mountains. We made the hotel reservation and took a train to Avezzano and then a bus to Rocca di Mezzo. In two hours we arrived at the hotel. In the morning we walked to the city (which does not offer anything in particular), we returned to Rome at 3 pm.

This place does not merit the 4 stars it claims. Unbelievably there was no gin of any kind at the bar, and the bar tender hardly knew how to make any drinks anyway. The atmosphere is staid and depressing. There are very few sports facilities, with the exception of the nice, small, indoor pool

A 9-day experience that was nothing short of wonderful, the hotel is a bit old, but I can say that in terms of room service in terms of cleanliness and order, it was excellent, heated to the right point and very sunny, the swimming pool, even though it was Olympic-sized, was well-stocked with floating boards and tubes and the lifeguard always present and available throughout. The breakfast buffet is very rich in sweet and savory foods, as is the rich and varied dinner buffet every evening, and the staff are so kind and available for any of our needs. like dearest Imma, always ready to pamper us and fulfill our requests, and we can say everything was good.
I can't evaluate the Baby Club as I don't have children, but I attended the shows dedicated to them in the evening in the disco and it was really fun, because the very engaging entertainers were a spectacle, continuing afterwards with karaoke and dancing. The bar is always open and even there the entertainers were always present even behind the counter, helpful and kind, making us feel at ease and making us feel at home, even if it was the first time in this hotel we immediately felt at ease. The staff at the reception were very helpful in meeting our needs right from the moment we booked and I must honestly say that we made quite a few requests🤩🤩🤩. A big hello to all the staff, in particular Claudio and Imma who have fully entered into our liking, a greeting to the restaurant staff, the very nice reception staff, the lifeguard and all the entertainers... it is one of the most complete hotels in the area, we will definitely return...

First the good: wonderful staff, they try their best to make your stay as pleasant as can be given the circumstances, always patient, always smiling. This extends also to the cleaning staff, the rooms were immaculated and smelled and looked absolutely spick and span...

Now as to the hotel...if you can call it that:
1) you got to show up between 1-2 pm for lunch, between 8 and 9 for dinner and between 8 and 9:30 for breakfast. If you're up before 8 am or after 9:30, it's your problem. if you or your kids get hungry before 8 pm or you don't make it back before 9 pm, it's your problem. Either way, you pay as if you ate.
2) the breakfast buffet is a cold one, just croissants (if you want to call them that), and some dry cake. Dinner was not a buffet, it was a menu, and the choices were: vegetable soup or lemon scaloppini. Anything else was a la carte, and it was expensive. So yeah. restaurant was no good at all.
3) the rooms: don't take anything by the elevators.mIt sounds like a torture chamber. The whole set up looks like a movie from the 70's...the bathroom is like out of a hospital... shampoo and soup come in little plastic bags, like airplane wet napkins...hadn't seen that in a so-called-4 star hotel since...well...the 80's. The bed is a freaking surf board...so hard it literally makes you 2 cm taller in the morning. The pillows as flat and hard. You know exactly the type. There is no hair dryer, instead...you will find one of those wall heaters with a tube...that will absolutely cook your hand before they dry your...anything. I'm serious, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen, handle with a towell to avoid burning hands.
4) No wifi. Anywhere. Not int he rooms, not in restaurant area. not in the lobby.

The place is also not exactly cheap. So I can't figure the good reviews.

Like every year, my family and I go to Abruzzo, always choosing the Grand Hotel delle Rocche, a structure close to the slopes, reachable in a few minutes... the structure is welcoming, well looked after, with many services... heated swimming pool, entertainment for children and adults with many activities, excellent food, qualified staff..plus there is a disco where in the evening there is always a different evening..a greeting to Maitre Emma..A special greeting from the Eureka Viaggi Group

I stayed in this hotel for 10 days with half board from 2nd to 12th August. with my wife and my two little girls. We had booked a double room with a 3rd and 4th bed but, to our amazement, they upgraded us to a quadruple room with two very comfortable bedrooms.
So let's get the little pebble out of the way right away... why didn't I give 5 stars?
1. the hotel is very beautiful, it has 4 floors, and from the outside it looks like a chateaux, it has a wonderful terrace with a spectacular view of the Sirene Velino park. The only point I have to make, however, is that inside it is a bit "old style" from the end of the 80s to the beginning of the 90s, with carpet everywhere and let's say that from an aesthetic point of view it would need a renovation even if there is no doubt that is functional and kept extremely clean.
2.On each floor there is Wi-Fi dedicated to that floor; However, we were staying on the top floor and our Wi-Fi absolutely didn't work and we connected to the one on the third floor which, well, let's face it, didn't work very well either. We reported it and they tried to resolve the problem but there was no improvement (the hotel was full and this certainly had an impact). However this disservice should not occur in a 4 star hotel!
Let's move on to the positive sides that far outweigh the problems outlined above:
1. The hotel has practically everything... it is not a family hotel but it has everything to satisfy even those who, like us, have small children; it has a mini club managed by Stefano and Teresa who in the evening turn into DJs for baby dance, karaoke and board games with guests. There is also a games room with table football and ping pong. Our girls had a great time. Furthermore, another great added value is the indoor swimming pool which we have used several times and, from what I know, it is the only hotel in the area to have it.
2. The hotel has two restaurant rooms where you can eat reasonably well with lots of quantity and quality and the possibility of choice, especially in the appetizer buffet. Breakfast offers a wide and varied offering capable of satisfying all palates.
3. However, I must say that the real strength of the structure lies in the uniquely professional staff, starting from the very nice Marica at the reception, always with a smile on her face and literally glued to her chair 24 hours a day, up to the very kind doorman. night, and then to all those who deal with catering. Among them there is a pearl... EMMA!!! In addition to being extremely courteous, helpful and competent, he is a witty person who is always ready to joke and puts the well-being of his guests first. My girls adored her from day one and she adored them; every morning we went down late for breakfast but she always put aside a portion of donuts which my daughters are fond of, to prevent them from running out. Then she is literally an "octopus", in the sense that she serves at the restaurant, the rest of the time she serves at the bar and since we have had a bad flu the last few days she also took care of our room service: A CYCLONE!!! Therefore I take the liberty of giving some advice to the Director... Emma has recently been working in the hotel and it has been a great acquisition and I would do everything not to let her slip away (I would also start to think about some financial reward).

To conclude, if you want to have a holiday in the Sirene Velino regional park (even in winter with the ski slopes 5 minutes away) the Grand Hotel delle Rocche is the structure for you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Decayed nobleman is the definition that best suits the structure. Dark lobby, the booths next to reception catapult you into the past. Dated rooms, narrow bathroom and tiny 60x60 shower are tolerated, but the absence of a socket at the head of the bed to recharge your mobile phone is unthinkable: watch and telephone recharged in the bathroom with the alarm ringing in the morning... over there, you are make yourself feel negative. On the other hand, kind staff and unexpected abundant breakfast on floor 3 with coffee, croissants, tarts, yogurt etc. offered by the management. It's ok for 1-2 nights.

It is the second time we have stayed at this property and we returned to relax with the family. The staff is always very helpful and making a ranking of the best services offered by the structure, in first place is catering, second is the swimming pool and third is entertainment for both children and adults.

The hotel is located in a rather convenient position for reaching the ski slopes. It's dated and I'm sure it has seen better times but it's kept up quite well. I stayed in a quadruple room with my husband and my children. Large room, slightly small bathroom, on the
cleanliness of the rooms nothing to say. Very professional, friendly and helpful staff. Very large common areas, billiard room (the rental of the billiard table has a separate cost), ping pong, table football, disco. Mini club, very friendly entertainment staff! The pool should have been heated but it wasn't at all, the water temperature was certainly below 30 degrees and it felt cold. The restaurant cuisine is absolutely not 4 star hotel style.
