We wish we could stay longer. It is one of the best residence hotel we have stayed during out time in Sri Lanka. The revamp colonial architecture is quite a charm. It was ver beautiful pace to be able to stay in. We stay in the room with our own veranda where we could have our breakfast there, but sadly...

We spent 2 wonderful nights at the Kandy House, and thought it was just perfect. The colonial charm oozes from every detail. The staff are wonderful. We enjoyed Sri Lankan curry for dinner on our first night, which was a wonderful selection of delicious food. Dinner is served in the prettiest garden lit by candle light. We opted to have...

Sadly we only spent one night here. The Kandy House is, as others have described, a beautiful, historic Colonial era property. It's virtually impossible to fault the property and the setting is stunningly beautiful. Our room had a private terrace where we had breakfast, the food overall was good, albeit with limited choice, given the small size of the property...

Everything we wanted, were promised, and more. The hotel once a house feel, the room, the setting, the food, the pool, the garden, the service were all memorable and now added to the list of favourites.

We stayed at the Kandy House for two days as part of Sri Lankan tour. The colonial style building has been sympathetically converted into a boutique hotel whilst retaining the style and charm of the original building. The gardens are carefully manicured and there is a large infinity swimming pool. At the check in we were introduced to a member...

Second hotel on our trip and kept up the quality accommodation. We spent two nights here and could have spent more. In the gardens you could hear nothing and falling asleep at the Pool was simple! Food excellent and staff very helpful and attentive.

First, we feel qualified to write this report as we are travelling extensively for pleasure in Asia, South America, japan and Europe. We do only 5 star boutique hotels or small resorts. We stayed (unfortunately) only one night in the peacock royal suite, which comes with your own terraces. The hotel has only a very limited amount of rooms as...

This is an excellent hotel. An old colonial house, the rooms are perfectly acceptable with good bathrooms, but the real highlights are the gardens and the staff. Stunning location, especially the pool. Certainly not a modern, shiny hotel but gently old fashioned and a delight to be in. We also thought that the food was very good. I recommend eating...

Sadly, we only had one night at the Kandy House but would have loved to stay longer as it was absolutely beautiful. It's up in the hills above Kandy, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and surrounded by greenery. Our room on the ground floor was spacious and clean with a four-poster bed and antique furniture. We...

What a perfect place to spend a few days! The Kandy House is just delightful in every way. The beautiful old house has been exquisitely developed into a small hotel with great thought going into the design of the shared areas and the guest rooms, each different and extremely comfortable. The staff are wonderful: always present to help but in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kandy House is a unique ancestral manor house (walauwa) providing seclusion and serenity for its guests in a lush, tropical garden setting, close to Kandy. With only 9 bedrooms, this Kandy hotel, aims is to give guests an experience of staying more in a private house than a conventional hotel. Traditional Kandyan architecture has been blended with Bawa-influenced modern, polished titanium cement floors and bathrooms. In the gardens, a stunning infinity pool has been landscaped into the hillside overlooking the rice paddy fields. Delicious European fusion and Sri Lankan cuisine is on offer. Well-placed to spend time to relax as well as explore a broad selection of Sri Lanka's primary destinations in the Cultural Triangle and Tea Country, including the Temple of the Tooth and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The house can also be booked as a whole for important celebrations with friends, or just for the peace of mind of a group having total privacy away from the public eye. The Kandy House also makes an ideal honeymoon hotel in Sri Lanka, in a quiet peaceful setting, honeymooners can enjoy the infinity pool, private dining, yoga or massages. ... more   less
