Stayed one night and my wife and I were very impressed. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to our room (4) which overlooked the river and fields beyond. Fresh milk was provided and some homemade bakes of shortbread and flapjacks which was a very nice touch. The room and bathroom were a generous size and very clean...

After a 3 hour drive down from Milton Keynes, we stopped here for a quick drink and hopefully a bite to eat, however we were too late for food as they stopped serving lunch at 2pm and we got there just after. Hubby enjoyed a pint and I downed a Lumscombe Lemonade. The barman was pleasant but reserved, maybe a...

A cool reception, certainly not friendly as I had been told. Strange concept re service....order at the bar when only 9 diners...didn't notice the little sign which said 'order at the bar' for sometime so wondered why no one came and asked....it wasn't busy. Ordered a bottle of wine but was expected to take bottle and two glasses from bar...

Hi Peter, Thank you for your review, and sorry you found our service and friendliness lacking on the day you visited, it sounds most unlike us. Normally we get praised on our customer service but clearly on this occasion we let you down, I will investigate as it sounds so far out of character for us! I'm very glad you...

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here; the room was lovely, well equipped and very clean. My only minor complaint was lack of large mirror in the room and no bin in the bathroom. Otherwise, excellent. The food was superb, both at breakfast and dinner. The menu was extensive and very reasonable. Service was excellent too,...

We continue to travel from Surrey to North Devon regularly just to eat here. It is a totally unspoilt, olde world country pub... like going back in time. Near us in Surrey, pubs have become all the same....same colours, same decor, same furnishings, same menu, same kind of staff...and it's just uninspiring. This place offers a completely different experience. The...

Spent two nights here recently while doing an early morning deer walk on Exmoor. The Inn is located in a very quiet village a short drive from the coastal towns of Lynmouth and Ilfracombe and is an ideal base if you want peace and quiet and access to some of Devon's beautiful countryside. Don't be put off by the look...

Recommended to us whilst on holiday, we went early on a Tuesday evening and were a little taken back as to how busy it was. There was a tempting menu with lots of choice, all of our party choose different dishes, they were all presented well and tasted good, the fish stew was outstanding. Service was good as was the...
