Located in a very picturesque square earth building, this guesthouse is a chance step back in time. The interior courtyard and balconies ooze historical atmosphere, with their wood and stone features and hanging red lanterns. Guest rooms are located from the 2nd-5th floors it seems. We stayed in an ensuite modernised room on the 5th floor and were very happy...

Travelled with 4 friends, and Stephen the owner arranged everything for us: Driver and pickup with English-speaking guide in Xiamen airport, one day in Xiamen and Gulangyu, tickets to everything, we had separate rooms, driver all three days including transport to and from Xiamen. We felt truly welcome, and it's a one-of-a-kind experience to get to stay in this beautiful...

We didn't actually stay here, but were introduced to Stephen the host by his sister in law who was our tour guide for the day. His English is excellent and the public areas of the tulou are beautifully presented. The village is really interesting and would make for a good base for a one night intro to the tulou or...

Fuyulou is quite basic (shared bathroom, poor –but working- wifi, etc.), but it was quite inexpensive, and the room was clean and with a traditional furniture. Plus, now I can say that I have slept inside a real Hakka tulou! They have a restaurant in-house which is not bad and makes Hakka specialties but, as I mentioned in the title,...

Family run hotel at Changdi inn. Everything runs smoothly from arrival to departure. Stephen was waiting for me at the bus stop . Rooms are clean and all you need is there. Dinner or lunch , the food is delicious, even the coffee is freshly brewed. For me it was a pleasure to stay among a Chinese family, grandma to...

We booked the room with an attached bathroom. The room is clean, reasonable-size with basic amenities. Just a note that the flushing system and water drainage for the shower may be slightly slow. As the whole place has wooden floorings and steps, you can hear others walking outside the room. The hotel is located in the Fuijian Cultural Village where...

Great value for money, perfectly located: Stephen the manager is a good communicator and an efficient organiser. The place is home to a large family and is one of the most famous Tulous in the village, so it is also part of the tourist route, which adds to the chaos. Rooms are clean, beds are hard, bathrooms are basic, but...

Absolutely loved it. Stephen is an amazing host and did so much to make sure we had a fantastic time. It's an incredible experience to stay the night in a tulou in such a wonderfully old and charming village. A very unique and unforgettable experience. The food was excellent and the shower lovely and hot.

This is a family run buisness, and the gentleman who represents the family is charming and friendly. The building is SPECTACULAR ... amazing actually, and very happy I stayed here. The food is good but like all fod in the village, overpriced. Only downside was that our en-suite bathroom had a glass wall which stopped about 50cm below the ceiling,...

We had a wonderful time staying here; a very special place. The inn is a charming old building, built from wood, with central courtyard for drinks and meals. It is situated next to a river in a designated sight of scenery so very peaceful. The food was delicious (cooked by Stephen's mother) and we loved feeling part of the family...
