The only positive thing I can say about the resort is that the staff kept it very clean and the food was really good. Other then that the drinks were horrible every bit of alcohol there taste watered down including the juice, the entertainment (shows)were very boring they didn’t have any foam parties basically nothing to keep the guess entertained during the day. This was my first time staying at a RIU and the last time, I went here with my daughter and she even agreed that this was one of the worst resorts she ever stayed at. If you looking for a boring resort with horrible drinks this is the place to go.....
We just got back from a week long vacation with a group of 9. My family has 3 children we got the family room suite - it is a small hallway with mini fridge and full length mirror then a door to go in the kids room - they had 2 full size beds and a sleeper sofa with a full bathroom. Our room had a door with a king size bed and full bathroom - both rooms had slider doors to the balcony. We slept like babies and never even heard the kids - this was probably the best room set up we have ever had for our family! Lots of privacy and gave the children some freedom. The maid came everyday and did a great job! No fancy animal towels, but that's okay. Oh and on the balcony was a drying rack for suites - what an awesome feature to free up space in the bathroom! Shower was hot and pressure was strong. Food - because we went during COVID and the capacity was low only one restaurant was open a night. You can get the RIU app and it will tell you everything - the days shows and restaurant schedule you can even browse the menus. The buffet is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate at every restaurant and the buffet - our favorite was the gourmet and bamboo - good shrimp tempura! Do not listen to the reviews about the food not being good - we have bene to so many all inclusives so we have lots to compare to and this was great! Breakfast the bagels were so soft, made to order omelets, Nutella stuffed French toast, fresh donuts, banana pancakes and the list goes on and on if you can't find something you like you are unpleasable. At the main restaurants they do not have kids menus so we would check out the menu before hand and if the kids didn't see anything we would give them a few dollars and send them to the buffet. They staff treated them so kindly and they felt so cool going alone. There are so many pools - Felipe at the pool bar had our drinks down!! Every night before dinner we would go to the lobby bar and Haide would be there with the coffee cart to greet us with her lovely smile (even though I couldn't see it) she was the best! We would have a drink and some nuts. There were managers walking around asking you if you were okay, etc. All the workers always say Hola and Freddie or Elizabeth are always coming around the pool asking you if you need a drink. We never had trouble finding a place to sit. Sports Bar - the Sports Bar is open 24 hours a day you can stop in there and get a pound cake, muffin, latte, cappuccino, bee0, etc. or there is a cooler and microwave if you want to heat up something premade. There is no room service or coffee maker in the rooms - I knew this because I did my research before booking so it is unfair for people to complain about this - they should know!!! We don't care about room service because we like to get out and I liked waking up with my husband going to the buffet or sports bar grabbing coffee and either bringing it back to our room to enjoy on the balcony or sit at the buffet with him before our kids joined us for breakfast. My only suggestion is it would be nice to have Styrofoam to-go cups for the sports bar instead of the clear plastic, which gets hot. Tip - bring your thermos from home you can use it in the pool and for coffee. Beach - the sand is super soft and the water is so blue! There was no seaweed. We took out the boogie boards and catamaran. We went in the ocean everyday it was amazing! There are several huts on the beach offering massages we got a few $40 for one hour - they were divine! Waterslides - we went on them everyday except Monday because they are closed for maintenance, but on Monday the little waterpark is still open. I witnessed them cleaning every inch of every slide it was wild! You have to be over 48 inches tall for the big slides - even the adults had lots of fun on them. There are lifeguards everywhere the slides, pool, ocean etc. We felt sooooo safe at this resort. Entertainment - there is a kids show at 8:30 and 9:30 is the adult show. We saw all the shows our favorite was the Queen, Michael Jackson and Karaoke - we were surprised at how many people sang those nights - it was so fun! Just do it! We enjoyed listening to people sing in different languages and see their culture. I am unsure why people would complain about that? Yes, maybe my children didn't really enjoy that but oh well! There were not a lot of Americans but due to Covid restrictions I understand people do not want to jump through all those hoops. If I wanted to be around only Americans I would stay in America, but I love Mexico and their culture and thought it was fun to be around people from Argentina, Chile, etc. COVID - take your passports to the front desk to schedule your test, you will get an email with your time to report to the room they have set up with your family and get the test (take your passport). The test was fine - up each nostril and done. We got our email with results in a few hours. Antigen test is free for US. We screenshot it and showed it to the airlines when we got to the airport. This resort is right at the top for us and we have been to over 10 with our children and group! The price is right - book it! The staff was superb - could not have been better! Thank you RIU for welcoming us and making my 40th birthday amazing! Please tip, tip, tip - they work so hard even with that darn mask on!…
We understand that this resort is a family resort we love kids however the swim up-bar had more kids in it than adults and they were allowed to bring toys and floaters in as well. Not a place we would return as the food was sub par compared to other Rius we have been to. Staff was very nice and resort is very clean.
We had a great time, the grounds were beautiful, food and service was amazing! We loved that the place was so empty we felt like we had our own resort but sad that tourism has been hit so hard. Would definitely go back!
We loved the location, quiet. We felt so safe and it was so clean. Never have we ever had such great hotel staff at the front desk. They always helped! The view was incredible! The beach was great. The bars had great choices and the bartenders always had a smile on their face. They worked so hard to keep us happy. FOOD was so good!
