Ilha do Marajo is a fabulous little island (little by Brazilian sizes but actually the size of switzerland). Casa Alema was recommended to me by the owner of the hostel where I stayed in Belem and it was a very good recommendation. The bus will drop you off outside the pousada. We had a lovely relaxing stay, recharging after 10 days cruising down the Amazon. Stella with her best ever breakfasts I have experienced in all our travels in South America from different fresh exotic tropical juices, fruit, home made preserves, fresh baked bread, eggs, buffalo cheese, coffee.... need I say more?! Berndt with his thoughtfulness & local information & good...

Bernt is an excellent source of information and very welcoming. He understands how travellers work ! The hostel is more of a home than a business . Cold beer on arrival ! What more can one ask. The gardens are beautiful and the area very peaceful but close to the town and shops

The pousada is owned and run by a very sympatic German/Brazilian couple with deep knowledge of the island Marajo. The house is very clean, has great rooms (with mosquito nets at the doors) and a good kitchen. The hammocks in the veranda are an awesome place to just hang out! We invite you to walk around in our garden and try the many different fruits we have. We have self made maps for our guests that we hand out and all contact is directly with the witty owner. ROOMS:We have a range of rooms to suit your needs and budget. The room prices range between 40 and 90 RS. OTHER SERVICES:We have bicycles that can be hired out for a small fee, and free internet use for our guests.
