We stopped to break up our journey from the Devon. Although the hotel was very clean, friendly helpful staff and an adequate breakfast the room was unbearably hot A fan had been provided but due to safety reasons which fully understand the window only opens a small way. I spent the night wetting towels to keep the dog and myself cool as it was unbearably hot. Therefore not a refreshed stopover.
The room was clean and spacious enough. I had selected an accessible room, which was spacious and equipped well for me, with flat access all the way from the carpark. The bedroom window can be opened, which was essential in the recent heat wave because the hotel has no air conditioning - the noise from the adjacent A38 was however disturbing with the window open, although unnoticeable when shut. Breakfast was included but nothing to write home about - the coffee was particularly poor. We stayed twice, breaking a journey to/from the west country, and breakfasted at the Gloucester M5 service station on the second morning, a much better alternative.
The whole hotel operated in a very professional manner. From the reception staff, room attendants and breakfast room staff. The WIFI was very good and free!!!! During these trying times customer service can suffer, but not here. We were worried about the breakfast and its lacking of choice as read in some of the reviews. We needn't of worried breakfast was more than adequate and tasted very fresh. Overall we had a very good experience. We will return
Easy to find off the M5 , good parking and welcoming staff. Bumble Bee pub in the car park. Stayed after Covid opening and staff seem to have adapted well with a Continental style breakfast that we had to take back to our room.
I booked a accessible double room for 2/7/21 to break a journey up for a one night stay ,I'm a above left knee amputee ,I need a Accessible room with grab rails around the toilet and shower, the hotel e mailed me on 29/6/21 to say they were looking forward to our stay.we arrived at 9pm to be told they had no accessible rooms left as they had had a run on them ,I explained I needed a room with grab rails in the bathroom , otherwise we couldn't stay ,the reception told me I should of been contacted I said no we had not been contacted ,I left and went to use a communal disabled toilet when I returned the hotel had found us a double accessible room.the room is not safe ,the bathroom floor when wet is extremely slippery ,no non slip flooring has been used, the shower seat is loose, has no legs and is barley wide enough extremely unsafe as the fixing was loose, there are not enough grab rails around the toilet there should be a third on the right hand side making it extremely difficult to use the loo safely, only one bathroom Matt is supplied barley big enough, the bed is far too low making it difficult to get out of bed, only two socket points and one usb point in the room and a swivel chair which I couldn't use! The room is connecting,my partner went outside in the morning for a cigarette on return he sore a couple a young child knock on the room next to us two children opened the door,it was clear now what the hotel had done they had given our booking to a family as the previous night at 9.30pm someone tried the connecting door,I dread to think if we had arrived after 9pm we wouldn't of got our accessible room!!! disgusting to treat disabled people like we are second class citizen's there's a reason why we need proper equipment, this hotel is out dated ,not fit to call this room accessible and SAFE ,I will never book with holiday Inn express again clearly these rooms are mainly used as family rooms.…
