We didn't end up looking at PPS because of all the terrible reviews on Trip Advisor, but after seeing the other (much pricier) options around Kalpetta, we decided to check it out. What a pleasant surprise! The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel owner was very kind and extremely helpful. If you are traveling on a budget, this place is perfect and an excellent home base for exploring the Wayanad area. It is much nicer than other places we have stayed for the same price!

We stayed in PPS for 2 nights - the hotel was chosen since that was one of the few places where we could get rooms. Also, it was cheaper compared to another hotel which was 3 fold expensive. (paid 675Rs. per night)
The staff was good and eager to server - but the infrastructure itself has a lot left to be desired. For example, we found that geyser is not there in every room - one geyser is shared with 2 rooms. You can imagine when you have to wait for hot water!!
The window of the room couldn't be opened. There was a small portico on the otherside which is filled with trash, empty liquor bottles and you can expect to spoil your mood by opening the window.
The room has a fan that seems as old as the building; it was making an awful noise. I couldn't sleep at all due to the noise, nor could I open the window and switch off the fan due to the problem mentioned earlier. The staff offered another room but the fan in that room had a no control at all - it would run at speed 5 all the time! The window curtains looked like they were washed several ages ago. In one room, there were no curtains at all.
Food was OK, but they took hell a lot of time to serve. When the restaurant was half-empty, the bearer told me they had too many guests and hence would take time. A bowl of soup was delivered after 45 minutes!!

Granted it's not the Hilton but our room was clean and the manager was very accommodating, friendly and had great knowledge about the region. The room service was slick and best of all the adjoining restaurant served up some of the best dishes we've had in India this far. The butter paneer and Kodai tomato were standout dishes. For the small price of the room this place is excellent value for money. Our only complaint would be that next door is a community building which while we there had a loud student body pumping music from 9am

Contrary to other reviews on TripAdvisor, our room was spacious and clean. It didn't have a carpet so I'm sure that helped. The bathroom and sheets were clean and the price for the room cheap (690Rs for three people). The staff was very friendly. There is WiFi in the lobby but not in the rooms.

Get room 101 for a carpet free and spacious room.

Good budget option in Kalpetta.

Saw this place Lonley planet india guide, it was the cheapest around so we thought we'd have a look.

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff eager to help. He offered to show us a standard double room, as we went up to the room the power went out, we viewed the room in darkness and could see it looked tatty but we were fine with that.

When the lights turned on we found what we were really staying in, a few things that we found were;
- blood on the toilet seat
- cockroaches in the bathroom
- old toothpaste and spit in the sink
- filthy carpets with holes and bugs
- stained beds
- thick in dust
It looked like the room hadn't been cleaned at all just the beds brushed down and rubbish taken out.

The balcony consisted of a concrete block looking out onto dusty, noisy streets

We decided that we couldn't stay here so we left to find something else.

The staff of the hotel seemed great but the rooms certainly need seeing too!

This hotel is situated in the heart of Kalpetta town and among the hustle and bustle of the nearby market. Yet the hotel is free from all disturbances. It is a good property with added features of ambiance and soothing calmness. Neat, well maintained and worth the money you spend. Service is prompt and the staff is cordial. They have an atmospheric restaurant cum bar too but what available is only beer and wine due to new liquor policy in Kerala. The food is fine. I hope you will love your stay here.

We came here reluctatntly due to some issues stated on other reviews but the room were super clean and comfortable and the receptionist was really friendly and gave us tips about trips around Wayanad... There is also wifi and if you're lucky (and stay in room 101) you can sometimes get it in the room.

There is also a restaurant next to the hotel but it is super super slow and not really that good. New family hotel restaurant next to the main road is a much better choice...
