A unique holiday cottage in the eco friendly jungle getaway of Wayanad in north western Kerala. Wrapped in the mountain range of western ghats of south India, we have two borders as lush embrace of a tropical rain forest and two borders as private land, quietly elegant and exclusive, helping the tourists to have a peaceful and calm stay.

We wanted to have a get together of our MBA batch and since we had to attend a wedding at calicut 10 of us decided to hit Wayanad. And finally our search through Wayanad Solutions ends up with Rock Haven. We where there for 2 nights . Had a wonderful time. The Good things is that the pictures that are shown on the site is just a sample. You should be there to see that it is an amazing property with an excellent view of the Chembara Peak on to your right and dense forest on your left.Jubin a very Modest , but an excellent Host. Our Whole group was so touched by his highly responsible and dedicated service. The Rooms have ample space and bathrooms are neat and well maintained. The Upstairs Rooms is Huge , as well as the attached Bathroom too really Huge .
The roads to the Place is in a slightly Bad condition which will get repaired soon.
WE all want to take our family to the place to just relax and get rejuvenated with the Fresh Air and Breeze .

We visited Rock Heaven during Diwali of 2014. We were looking for a place that was away from the bustle of the normal Wayanad and something that wouldn't be too adventurous for my parents since they were vacationing with us. We also wanted a quiet place since we wanted to keep our dog away from the ruckus of Diwali. Rock Heaven was just perfect. Booking was simple and Zubin was very proactive on WhatsApp sharing all details of the property and routes.

The best part before you reach the property is reaching the property. It is located off a small lane off Mepadi Road. Zubin was waiting for us at the spot else we surely would have missed the lane. It starts off as a lane and then gradually turns into a slowly rising gradient on a narrow hill lane with a few tight (if you are driving a MUV or SUV) turns. Then comes the final leg of about 200 meters. You will need to carry momentum into the climb else your car will stall. It is a cake walk for a 4X4 and Zubin has a very capable soft top MM540 at hand to help. I love small thrills like this and that little off-roading climb only made the experience better.

Zubin has been a hotelier in the past with some of the best known brands of the country and he definitely knows a thing or two about entertaining guests. He is always available at any time of the day on a phone call or on WhatsApp message.

Breakfast is the only meal made at the property but then it is definitely among the most memorable meals of the day. Zubin's wife is a great cook and sometimes she is the one who makes the breakfast. It is authentic finger licking delicious home made Malayali food. If you want the other meals to be brought to the property all you have to do is ask Zubin. He will dish out a whole range of options from local biriyani to chicken or the local fish curry. Zubin treated us to some amazing Malabar dishes. The food is so good that I can go back just to have the food.

The property has a large rock adjacent to the house and that is a central attraction. I loved lying on the rock and gazing at the sky listening to the sounds of the forest. Even the best spas would find it difficult to provide the same experience of relaxation.

The property is centrally located for hikes, trips to the local reservoirs and lakes. The road from Bangalore drives through the Wayanad tiger reserve (the other side of Bandipur) and if you are lucky you will see deers, wilds boars and maybe an elephant.

If you are looking for a homestay that has all respect for the word 'home' then Rock Heaven is the place for you. It is everything BUT commercial with 10 people to wait on you and noisy holidaymakers all around.

Jubin is an excellent host. Barring the minor communication problems around booking and choosing a room (since ours was a last minute booking) there were no issues at all. The personal attention to our comfort and needs was almost overwhelming.

The property is located near Kalpetta, on a hill right across Chembra peak. Out of the two approach roads - one is extremely steep but manageable for a 1200cc hatch, the other needs a Jeep. Most people park their cars till the point when driving becomes impossible and walk upto the property. The downside is you have to park in the open, which may not be acceptable to some.

The hike up the hill is manageable unless you have old folks, children or medical issues. In that case, Jubin will be more than happy to pick you and drop you to your parking spot or the town in his Jeep. The cottage room was tidy and had an aircon, television (with Hindi channels) and 24x7 hot water. Housekeeping is also available. They have a small kitchen in the property where you get tea and snacks almost anytime. We also had breakfast everyday, and dinner on the property on our last day and it was way better than what we ordered from outside. You should check if the inhouse kitchen can provide for dinner. Apparently, it can't really do so if a large group is around.

If you like quiet, be sure to inquire if large groups are staying as most people hang out in the open space in front of the cottages and they may be noisy. Fortunately for us, everyone left on the third day of our stay and we got Jubin's undivided attention and a bonfire on the house.

Jubin also does a guided tour of Wayanad if you book in advance. We couldn't do it but he had a whole lot of stories to tell about tribal medicines, wild elephants and hidden rocks.

We decided to spend the new year at Wayanad and after some meticulous scouting online, settled for Rock Haven. It was a lovely 3 days. The location is scenic and the property very well kept. We lazed around a lot and ate great food. Zubin is a great host, knows a lot about Wayanad and is very helpful. Rock Haven represents one end of the spectrum of options - a simple, family oriented getaway, where tourism is also about going with the flow, knowing your host and opening your heart to local culture. Remember, Rock Haven is not a resort with a spa and a retinue of service staff. It is an efficiently run, small household business, with a personal touch.

we decided to go to wayanad at the last moment.most of the hotels were booked. that is when one of our friends suggested Rock Haven. Though we were initially skeptical about this place. Even more coz we need to drop our car at some different place and then the owner Jubin takes us to the property in his jeep, which is total approx 1kms ride. But once we reached the place, we were completely blown away by its beauty. on the hill top, in the mid of dense plantation/forest is a cottage which is all yours. The hammock, the handmade bridge, the balcony which ends to a steep fall, it is all yours. Woah!!! beauty. I was so mismerized by the place that i wanted to stay for longer, but we had to leave coz our vacation ended. But if i happen to visit wayanad again, i will surely stay in rock haven. The owner is extremely modest and good at heart.

We were group of 4 guys and this place turned out to be perfect for us. Its a beautiful property situated on a secluded enchanting hill. It has magnificent view of the hill and the valley. Would recommend if you are 2 families or group of bachelors . Approach road to a resort is pretty bad , but trust thats the only thing bad here, rest all was made good by kickass host Mr. Jubin. Memorable trip !

It was a great experience to reach the resort itself which is up a Hill. An awesome place for any nature lover, as the place is away from the town. I could see and photograph birds right from the room balcony which was great. Excellent stay, food and wonderful hospitality from Jubin
