I love this place.Old world pub atmosphere but with modern, well equipped rooms in a detached new build. Food is excellent - both evening meals and breakfasts. Staff, from manger down, are really friendly, obliging, efficient and professional. I've stayed here a couple of times now with friends and in fact got another stay already booked. Would recommend without hesitation.

I arrived late last night after work and I was greeted with a "can I get you a glass of wine?" by a lovely chap I think Lewis? I apologise if that isn't his name, it has been a very long week. I was then shown to my very comfortable bedroom with my towels shaped like a swan - lovely...

We were bought a voucher for Christmas for a 2 night stay with afternoon tea. Just a little niggle before all the good points. We were shown to our room which was a good size however when I opened the door for tea and coffee the door knob fell off - very loose and obviously not checked by maintenance. Behind...

We booked six rooms for two nights at The Farmer's Boy for the weekend of our daughter's wedding in Longhope. We also all had a meal there on the Friday evening. We couldn't have been more delighted with our choice. The rooms, which are around a small courtyard behind the pub, were very clean and comfortable (including the all-important full-length...

I've been before, but treated my (new-ish) husband to a 2-night stay for his birthday because I liked it so much the first time. He is now as keen as I am, and has already recommended it to several friends. The food is amazing (Sunday morning's scrambled eggs and smoked salmon better than mine); the staff are absolutely super -...

Living near the Farmers Boy the wife and myself decided to eat out as it was my birthday. We decided to have the standard pie and not the large one. With the chips and mushy peas the helping was more than enough. The flavour of these pies are to die for, tender meat, cooked perfectly. Staff were very friendly and...

Our son treated us to a 2-night stay, plus afternoon tea, at a hotel of our choice. We clearly chose very well! The Inn was charming and full of character. The bedrooms were built around a pleasant courtyard, where it was lovely to sit out and relax. We really enjoyed the food, and the staff were very friendly and helpful....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Simply put, we love food. Not just for what it is, but for the experience that accompanies it. Homely surroundings, great company and conversation, attentive waiters, who become friends and of course fine wines from around the world. After a evening of gastro food delights, gourmet pies and laughter infront of the open fire retire to our courtyard of boutique individually designed rooms and drift off, to wake up to the sounds, sights and smells of the idyllic gloucestershire countryside. Followed of course by a hearty breakfast and maybe a stroll up the majestic May Hill ... more   less
