My first visit to the Royal hotel was in the winter when the Cape winters are drizzly and cold. The large fireplace in the lounge of the Royal was just the cure. Here you can laze on one of the many comfortable sofas and stare at the crackling fire. Or you can order a drink an start chatting to fellow...

The food, atmosphere, service, staff, decor, rooms, facilities was all a 10/10. Maxwell was in incredible host and made sure our day and days leading up to our wedding was relaxed and well organised. The bathroom had underfloor heating and heated towel rail. Towels were white and fluffy and Charlotte Rhys products were in the bathroom. The bar and the staff were very hospitable and we loved the "fruity"...

Sitting on the veranda of this elegant old timer sipping a gin definitely evoked feelings of a more leisurely era. The gin happy hour is a must and one can choose from a wide range of gins some you will never have heard of but definitely worth a try . I liked the Hope Salt River and the Wilderer particularly....

Drove up to Riebeek-Kasteel from Cape Town for a day and a night. Destination: The Royal Hotel which is apparently the oldest hotel in SA. The drive was awash in colors of lime greens and acid yellow of the canola fields in full bloom. The hotel was a delight and a surprise. Filled with history and a very comfortable place...

Maxwell and his colleagues were put under a bit of pressure on Sunday morning with extra guests for breakfast, but they coped extremely well! Enjoyed calling room service for early morning coffee or tea. I would like to suggest they rotate the mattresses, could have done with a...
