Four of us had a glorious meal here - we were staying in Sablet. From a food perspective, a varied menu that had no misses amongst us four, and a nice little wine list as well. Sitting outside on a summer evening was divine. Service wasn't the quickest (as someone had commented), but for us it was attentive and we...

Lovely, very helpful, very friendly couple runs this small hotel, my partner, my son and myself were welcomed by the owners upon arrival. We were given the biggest room in the hotel, which we had not booked and this was much appreciated. The room was lovely and very clean, the standard of the room and bathrooms is very high. The...

We went to Les Abeilles with a friend who knows the owner/chef. It was one of the two best dinners I had in France, the other being at La Fontaine de Mars in Paris. The dining room is elegant in a simple, non-stuffy way (there's also a lovely patio, but the weather in March isn't conducive to outdoor dining), the...

This is a lovely restaurant, especially if you are dining outside in the courtyard. We have eaten here before, and feel that at least this time around, the food was not quite as good as the last time. In our party of 4, 3 people had a fabulous meal, but the 4th was disappointed. But even so, it is worth...

This is such a wonderful spot for an alfresco lunch under the spreading plane trees in the courtyard. The food is top notch, the freshest ingredients, excellently prepared. If you happen to be in the area on a Monday then don't miss the Johaness's cooking class. I have done it twice now and highly recommend it. Johaness the owner and...

We were renting a house in Sablet, so have no comment on the rooms. The restaurant, however, was fabulous. The food was excellent and the setting (outdoors) was lovely. The service, however, was slow. We had a reservation and arrived on time, but we stood around for quite a while before we were shown to our table (which was empty...

If you have the chance sign up for the cooking class I took it with my two boys and the wife and children of the family we were traveling with. A great experience and Johannes and his staff are a delight. Food is outstanding and my boys really enjoyed cooking.

There are many small mom and pop restaurants in the Cotes du Rhone appellation in the southern Rhone. What sets Les Abeilles apart from most is that its owner is also its chef de cuisine (rather than a hired hand). Johannes Sailer is a classically trained chef who ran kitchens in several Relais & Chateaux operations before going off on...

What a wonderful time we had staying at Les Abeilles. The food was outstanding and the setting perfect. We even took a cooking class from Johannes Sailer and had a marvelous time. Les Abeilles is a wonderful place to stay and is so close to all the area has to offer. I am very disappointed by the review of "The...

We really enjoyed our stay at Les Abeilles. The accomodations were quiet and private with a nice view overlooking the front courtyard. Our hosts were professional and pleasant and even took the time to review the entire menu in English for us at dinner. The restaurant was top quality and met all of our expectations.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As of Valentine's Day 2004 the Sailers reopen in the neighboring village of Sablet under the banner of Les Abeilles. Sablet's gain is Gigondas' loss, alas, but fans of this great restaurant will follow it anywhere, especially to the new location where for summer dining there is a large, pretty terrace shaded by plane trees. The dining room - quiet and subdued yet cheerful - is conducive to conversing with friends while enjoying a wonderful dinner. Try the cozy bar for an after-dinner digestif. ... more   less
