Tuscany isn't what you might think, it isn't all cypress lined roads, vineyards and olive groves, it isn't just winding roads through spectacular mountains, it isn't just a wealth of farmhouses on hilltops with panoramic views. It is so much more and every district has its own distinct character. Wild and untamed, rugged and beautiful, the Mugello is everything you would want and more. La Noce was completely renovated scant years ago. Its panoramic position captured the imagination of the owners who sought to create a true home from home in the country style that they found so appealing. Situated in unspoiled countryside with stunning views of the estate's own orchard, olive grove and vineyards (whose products can be bought in season) it commands views the likes of which could grace the pages of any photographers portfolio for postcards. La Noce has got only three apartments that have been converted from the original stone built hay barn, part of the farmhouse and a medieval watchtower. Well appointed and equipped, the modern soft furnishings add comfort and beauty to the simple country styled interiors. Original features such as the heavy chestnut beams and old barn doors have been kept and are now quirkily used as headboards. Oak furniture has been restored and polished until it shines like the sun on the lake below. Relax and unwind by the private pool surrounded by a large terrace and lawn, take walks or mountain bike rides through the splendid Tuscan scenery or take a horseback safari from a nearby stable for that authentic experience. Londa 4km, is a charming pretty little village where all your basic essentials can be bought.

We have been at the "Agriturismo la Noce di Francesca" many times since its creation. So we have noticed the constant improvements of this pretty agriturismo overlooking the hills of Tuscany. First the original path to reach it turned into a small road winding between olive trees. Once you arrive, it is first of all the panorama that grabs you like in an eagle's nest! The reception is excellent, Francesca is making sure that her guests are installed in the best conditions. She always has lots of great tips for visiting the region. We were lucky enough to stay in the 3 apartments offered. Everyone is lucky enough to have a terrace and has its own advantages: "Gli Archi" is the view, "La Mangiatoie", the freshness and "Il Pastore", the space. Being a couple, our preference goes to "Gli Archi" with its arched windows with a view on the famous watercolor sunsets. The walls are very thick and this old farmhouse, renovated with great taste, retains well its freshness in summer. An important detail, at this altitude mosquitoes are not numerous like very close to Florence. The agriturismo being located in a natural park, like us you will certainly have the chance to see wild animals crossing the small road if you come back at night: deer, badgers and porcupine ... Francesca, an excellent cook, offers as an extra service typical Tuscan meals. Please note that there is no salt in traditional Tuscan bread . Its generous home cooking is made with a lot of love. The proof is with her organic jams which are addictive. We also had the chance to discover typical dishes such as the "gnudi". We took cooking lessons with her and it's very friendly! The flower garden around the swimming pool has been fitted with small barriers to restrict access to small children. Before, you had to keep an eye on them, especially from "La Mangiatoie" which has direct access to the swimming pool which is heated by the sun. During our last stay, there was a problem with the pump to be repaired but Francesca moved heaven and earth to repair this unforeseen and allow us to bathe every day. We like to come and take refuge at La Noce, far from the frenziness of Florence in the tourism season. Calm and fresh mountain air are always welcome during heatwave episodes. If you like taking pictures, do not miss the "golden hours" of twilight, the mountain side of the agriturismo being perfectly oriented South West ("A clean horizon is all that you need"). It is a haven of peace that we have seen evolved into since its creation without losing its shabby chic Tuscan farmhouse cachet, its family atmosphere and Francesca who does everything to make your stay the best.

La Noce Di Francesca is set in a pretty amazing location. It's tranquil and offers a stunning view. Our apartment, Il Pastore, offered comfort and rustic charm. The only downside of our stay was that the prices of the home cooked meal were misleading, as we were told 26 euro for a complete meal, but ended up being charged a lot more, and when asked for an explanation were told that the biscotti, coffee and water offered weren't actually included in the originally quoted price, but were extra. That aside the place is worth a visit. Just be sure to clarify the price of the meal carefully, or skip it altogether and visit a local trattoria instead.

What a beautiful setting and amazing experience. Francesca, the owner, made this holiday and unforgettable experience. La Noce arranged Half Board accommodation for us and with delicious homemade food. Extremely helpful and gave us a lot of good advice on everything we needed : excursions, wine tasting, etc. Grazie Francesca!

We took full advantage of all facilities, booking a chianti wine tasting, horseback riding, visiting the kennel, amazing steak dinner and authentic Italian cooking class (with our choice of fresh pasta, tiramisu, etc.) during our stay. The host Francesca graciously organized everything and it was perfect! Breakfasts were full of local fresh delicacies, rooms were cosy & beautifully decorated, hosts made us feel welcome & at home! This is a perfect spot for a family or couple retreat, only 40 min from Florence. A true authentic hidden gem!

La Noce was everything that we hoped for in our Tuscan sojourn . It is a little farm nestled in the hills with lovely views garden and pool. The apartments are high ,beamed and traditional with home comforts and kitchens equipped with every utensil should you get the urge to immerse yourself in oil, pasta and truffle. Sitting and eating in the garden was a great pleasure looking out over the countryside . Francesca was very accommodating and cooked up a lovely five course dinner on our arrival which we enjoyed in her farmhouse and gave us our urge to learn more about local cuisine and two days later we had a masterclass in her kitchen and all got stuck in making pasta, tortoloni and cooked chicken liver bruschetta while sampling local Prosecco and ate this at supper later! Francesca organised our trip to a great chateau wine estate and one of our local restaurant dinners which was lovely even though we could not finish the giant Florentine steaks . We were able to explore easily the picture book countryside and villages in all directions and the local town with its shops is a ten minute drive down the hill but be aware everything shuts between one and five.If you enjoy walking there are lovely woods and hills to climb around La Noce and the farm owns a lot of land where you can roam. You are only one hour from Florence by main road but we found it fun to wind aimlessly through the lanes and villages where you see the real countryside. A highlight of our stay was a visit to the hill town of Fiesole above Florence where we climbed a steep old street from the town square and ate at a great restaurant overlooking what seemed like the whole country. We will remember La Noce for lovely evenings sat out among the flowers and fire flies and for the great hospitality of Francesca and her team. It was lovely .
