Visiting the Duras area for a friends wedding, I was highly recommended the Labarthe B&B. On arrival, the region, house and hosts did not disappoint.
Following a relaxed drive from Bergerac airport, my partner and I admired the lovely rural countryside, arriving at the house we were greeted by Richard and Jeanette and shown to our room. They are both friendly and welcoming, the room was of a very high standard, tea, coffee and water provided. Richard explained the TV, English and French channels available, however, my attention was distracted by the amazing garden and inviting pool I could see from the bedroom window. The bathroom was of a very high standard too, I do love a good high pressure shower and this one did not disappoint, fluffy towels and everything was amazingly clean. One other thing that stands out is the very high quality of the mattresses, a good nights sleep, every night.
The house and gardens have been finished to an amazingly high standard, the pool was clean and well maintained, the views from the house into the rural countryside were breathtaking.
Breakfast was either in the large kitchen or in the garden depending on the weather. A large selection of continental foods, hot drinks and orange juice, croissants, toasts and boiled eggs hot and fresh on arrival. There are only two guest rooms so breakfast is provided with care and attention.
A selection of local wines are available to purchase at a very reasonable price, perfect for sitting in the garden on a warm evening, watching the sun go down.
My partner and I needed some advice on local places to visit, Jeanette provided maps and a plan for us with personal recommendations.
Every aspect of the Labarthe B&B has been thought out with making sure the guests have the highest quality experience possible.
I cannot recommend the Labarthe enough, nothing is too much trouble for Richard and Jeanette, if you are reading this review, book a visit now, you will not be disappointed.

I stayed for 4 nights in October and received the warmest of welcomes from Richard and Jeanette.
The property is set in stunning countryside close to Duras and the hosts were incredibly helpful with tips and advice on the local area. Richard even booked a restaurant for me on the first night just in case I hadn't made my own arrangements.
The rooms are very comfortable and the pool and gardens offer tranquility in an idyllic location.
I'm sure I'll stay again

We had the pleasure of staying with Richard and Jeanette for 3 nights as we were officiating at a wedding locally. Absolutely everything was first class, the best beds we have ever slept in, in France, beautiful linen and towels and a delicious and plentiful breakfast They are amazing hosts who go above and beyond what one usually expects from B&B hosts. The location is super convenient for Duras and Eymet with their amazing restaurants and places to visit, the pool and gardens are gorgeous, its a tranquil haven and we most certainly will return. Richards gardening knowledge will certainly help us and with the promise of 'cuttings' how can we not return? My friend and I stayed in two rooms for 4 nights. We had arrived the previous day from Edinburgh on a recce of the area with the intent on viewing properties to purchase a home in the vicinity. We could not stay where we thought that we might. Whilst out and about, we stumbled upon this haven of peace of tranquillity; they say that there is a reason for everything, this was the best thing that could have happened to us on our short six-day visit. Richard and Jeanette could not have been more helpful, we landed upon them; they ensured that we could stay for the remaining four nights of our stay, nothing was too much trouble; we are, and were, eternally grateful to them for facilitating us at short notice. Nothing is too much trouble for them, everything, absolutely everything, both inside and out, is immaculate. They have both thought of everything that you might need for your stay, no matter for how long or short. The bedrooms are large, cool, and elegant, the bathroom spotless, large, and airy, the shower hot; it was so lovely to lie and listen to the owls who live in the nearby trees at night. The view is simply stunning, you instantly feel everything lifting from your shoulders just sitting there on the terrace eating a beautifully prepared breakfast, taking in the simply stunning view, and become at peace, and at one, with the world. Richard and Jeanette are the most hospitable hosts I have experienced, and I have been fortunate to have travelled around the globe. They are also so knowledgeable and helpful about the area as well as answering questions and proffering sage wisdom and advice. This is truly a gem of a place and Jack made it that extra bit special, the icing on the cake 😍. We do hope, that when we return to view potential homes, we are able to stay again.

We stayed for 4 nights at this lovely B&B. Our first impression when arriving was a full-blown ‘wow’! The garden is very big but every inch is just as neat as the other. Our room was very cosy and authentic. Everything that one needs is available. Funny detail is the amazing soap smell and softness of the towels! We loved that! The owners (and their dog Jack) take very good care of the room while you are there, and most importantly; they take amazing care of you! Breakfast was served every morning at the time we’d preferred. Fresh baked toast and pastries, and a perfectly boiled egg.
The area and its surroundings are beautiful: more then enough options for dinner and activities. The pool is perfect for relaxing. Though, when the weather is somewhat less fortunate, you’ll have to find yourself another activity that often requires a car drive. That will allow you to discover the area quite well😊

Expectations did not disappoint for our third visit to this fantastic gite. Richard & Jeanette are the perfect hosts being close at hand for any advice or help, yet discrete & perfectly judged at giving you space for your holiday.
The gite is perfectly equipped (& in these strange 2020 times meticulously cleaned), the welcome supplies generous & the pool & surroundings force relaxation & recharging!
Duras has lovely restaurants, a good supermarket & regular markets so can supply all your holiday needs without you needing to venture further unless you wish. For our family of 4 we have found the perfect holiday destination to re-charge the batteries & will definitely be back again.

My husband and myself stayed in the two bedroom gite for a week. We arrived hot and tired after a long drive and the gite was cool and inviting. It was spotlessly clean and Richard and Jeanette have thought of everything you might need including enough essentials so that you don’t need to rush to the shops. The beds are large and comfortable and the gite has its own patio with barbecue. We picked the fresh strawberries growing around the patio and had them with breakfast! The view is stunning and so peaceful, bunnies play st the edge of the garden and you can hear the tree frogs singing at night, just pick one of the well placed loungers and enjoy. Our hosts were discreet but very friendly and we are planning our next trip back in September. A fabulous little find.

My husband and I stayed at Labarthe Gite for a week in August and, as it was fully booked for the month, we booked another 12 nights in their B&B. We expect high standards and were not disappointed. Richard and Jeanette’s attention to details are second to none. Richard’s breakfasts are a treat and Jeanette’s homemade jams superb. When the weather is good breakfast is served on the B&B terrace where the panoramic views are glorious.
Bedding in the Gite and B&B is high quality and the beds are very comfortable. Every room has a large bed and some convert to twin beds - 6’ wide beds aren’t always easy to find in France! Everywhere is kept beautifully clean and there are mosquito nets fitted at the bedroom windows. Richard makes sure the pool is cleaned daily. The gite is very comfortable and well furnished. It has it’s own private dining terrace with sun loungers looking out over the pool. The extremely spacious gardens have sunny and shady areas with a choice of tables, chairs and sun loungers dotted around. If you want a private space you have lots of spots to choose from.
We enjoyed walking around the area and some guests were adventurous enough to walk to Duras, the nearby small historic bastide town famous for it’s castle. There are some shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in Duras.
Would we return? Of course we will. We’re already thinking about next year. Some of the other guests we met at Labarthe were repeat clients and this was the eighth B&B stay for one lovely Dutch couple.

This is an amazing place to stay, the hosts are very friendly and extremely accomodating. The bed and breakfast rooms are very high quality, cleaned every day and restocked with tea and coffee etc. It was extremely comfortable and a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Lovely pool and gardens too with amazing views. I would highly recommend staying here.

Richard and Jeanette provided last minute accomodation for us during a glitch in our house buying process at the beginning of January. We booked in for two nights and ended up having to stay for a week, but nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The house was beautiful, the location and views stunning, and the room was delightful, calm, clean, warm and extremely comfortable. We had a variety of tasty breakfast choices in the mornings and a delicious home cooked meal in the evenings Our 8 year old son felt totally at home, which was so important during his transition moving to France, he even started school from there and Jeanette provided him with a couple of last minute supplies he needed for his first day. It was so refreshing for a destination to exceed expectations, for me the icing on the cake was the beautiful bed linen and comfortable beds. I would not hesitate in recommending Labarthe to anyone, Richard and Jeanette really know how to do B&B.
