I recently stayed at this fantastic hotel for my first trip to Huatulco, but definitely not my last, with a friend of mine. We chose Villa Blanca for the great reviews and the fact that it’s a smaller hotel and not all-inclusive. Needless to say we made a great choice. Villa Blanca has many repeat guests, with some staying the entire winter season. One repeat guest told us we were lucky to get a room, so if you’re thinking about it, just do it and book early.
Villa Blanca is about a 20 minute drive from the airport, an 8 minute walk to the public beach (the hotel is associated with a beach club, but we only visited the public Playa Chahue), a 20 minute walk to La Crucecita/the downtown area and a 3 minute walk to Chedraui if you need to pick up snacks or any supplies. We walked everywhere but taxis are all over the place.
The staff were fantastic and so friendly. Most spoke very good English and were happy to help me with my Spanish :). Tip generously if you can.
Our room was spacious and very clean, with a balcony that overlooked the pool area. We didn’t have any issues with water pressure or hot water as mentioned in some reviews.
We ate breakfast at the hotel daily. The buffet food was high quality and the service friendly. We never had a problem getting a table, no matter if we ate on the early or later side. We learned later into our week stay that you can request food that’s not on the buffet and the staff can usually make it happen. We only ate one other meal here, simply because we were usually elsewhere during mealtimes, but the dishes we ordered (steak tacos, shrimp aguachile, guacamole and pasta) were excellent and reasonably priced. You may even be joined at your table by Princess the cat :). There are several theme nights during the week including BBQ night, Taco Tuesday and pasta night.
We enjoyed relaxing at the pool area. I was pleased to see that no guests tried reserving chairs, which is a first in my travels!
I’m looking forward to returning to this hotel when a bit of rest and relaxation is called for!

We reserved a Jr Suite and on viewing it saw that we would have to negotiate a full flight of stairs to get to the bathroom. We thought this was too dangerous at our age and at night. They offered us a standard room (17% less expensive) and denied our request for a refund or on site credit for food or other services. Booking.com followed suit saying there are photos of the staircase. There is no mention as to whether the bathroom is on the upper or lower floor, though. The very next guests to register did receive that Jr suite, so there was no loss to the hotel.
At the Friday BBQ night we shared a “rib eye” steak. My half I could not cut with a steak knife or chew. Surely, grass-fed beef will be more dense but this was impossible to eat. We dined elsewhere for the duration of our stay
I must say that the hotel was quiet, clean and breakfasts were outstanding.

I was in Huatulco before and had a condo, I had heard good things about this small hotel and that it has a high repeater rate. When choosing a location this time it came down to price, knowing the repeater rate and also the location for us. The checkin was simple, hotel room large, clean and comfortable....Rustic yes but has that old Mexican vibe. We did not always have breakfast as we were out early every. However the days we did try the breakfast there was a decent variety but more typical Mexican breakfast. Some fruits, baked goods, juices, tacos, nachos, meats and omelettes. Not your typical bacon and sausage on the days I was there. The bar service around the pool and bar was. great and the staff were very friendly. The grounds are kept clean and the hotel is a quiet vibe even when there was more guests certain days. Walking distance to a few restaurants of course and Chahue and Santa Cruz are not far also. I would make a return to this hotel in the future if this I am looking for the same kinda vibe.

I would rate this hotel about a 3.5 star. We were first put in junior suite #317 with the loft and stairs and found it to be very dark. Divina at the front desk was super helpful and the next day we were happy to be moved to room #211 which is a two bed room overlooking the pool area and includes a small fridge and dining table with 4 chairs. Main floor rooms near the pool seem to only go to long term guests. My only issue with the rooms is that the showers have very poor water pressure. The food at this hotel is good, we especially enjoyed the Friday night steak bbq. Ricardo was our favourite waiter, but we did find the service to be a bit slower than what we’re accustomed to in other Mexico locations. There is usually some sort entertainment every evening, we really enjoyed listening to a band called The Troublemakers. We felt the pool could have been cleaned more frequently but liked that it was never hard to get a spot to sit. Location of the hotel was on a busier street than we’d expected. It’s about a 20 min walk to downtown, but really close to the local supermarket. The nearby beach does not offer shade and the waves are quite rough so we took a cab to other beaches or caught a ride with Alex who works in the lobby offering tours, etc.

Perfect location, perfect atmosphere. Villa Blanca is close to everything. Walking distance to Santa Cruz, Chahue and La Crucecita. Cabs are plentiful and cheap if you don’t feel like walking, or want to go a little farther like Tangolunda. Breakfast was great every morning and the pool was a wonderful place to relax in the afternoon when we returned from our adventures. Most evenings we went to other restaurants nearby but we had three dinners at Villa Blanca and they were all excellent. We were well taken care of by restaurant staff Ximena, Laura, Juan, Victor, Josue, Kevin and Ricardo. We had a Junior Suite which we recommend for the extra space.

Our second visit to this hotel, the last was in 2022. Great location with easy walks in town (centro), down to Santa Cruz beach and to Chahue beach. Rooms are clean but could use a facelift, especially the bathroom/shower. Very poor water pressure and not much warm water for a shower. We had a room on 2nd floor overlooking the pool. Very small balcony not good for much other than looking out or getting a breath of warm air. Air conditioner worked great and was quiet. WIFI didn't work well in the room, but downstairs it was fine. We had requested a room on the bottom floor facing the pool. Even though we reserved about 5-6 months in advance we did not get one... even though at least3 of those rooms remained empty for 3-4 nights... a little disappointing. We got the breakfast included. Like last time we were there food was great... Eggs of all varieties made fresh, a good selection of fruit and lots of mexican dishes for breakfast. They would even make you fresh fruit smoothies. We ate lunch here only once. We did notice prices had gone up substantially. Over $200 Pesos for fries was a little much. No lunch specials like prior. Did not try dinner here this trip, due in part to the prices. Pool area is nice, quiet and there always seemed to be room in a chair or lounger. Staff is very friendly. They did get in a couple of buses of people which made the hotel and especially the breakfast very busy.

We had a very nice stay, our second time staying here. We requested a ground floor room we booked and made the request seven months in advance, but we did not get one. Many ground floor rooms were empty during our stay. Very disappointing. We have been to Huatulco many times, and even if we stayed at other places we always visited the restaurant at Villablanca. This time we only had dinner there once, the prices are ridiculously high. Fries $220 pesos! No drink specials anymore they used to have 2 for 1 at happy hour. Breakfast was included and very good. It was sad to see the restaurant empty even on nights there was entertainment. This place used to be hopping. Room was fine although no pressure in the shower. We will try somewhere else next time mainly because of the restaurant prices. We missed the convenience of being able to order drinks and food poolside at an affordable price.

We came down on a last minute package trip. We have been to Huatulco a number of times and had last stayed at the Villablanca six years ago. It was nice to see that they have kept the hotel in good repair, and have made some improvements. Their breakfast buffet was terrific - eggs made to order, fresh fruit and juices, baked goods,and some traditional dishes. They had several feature (steak, BBQ, fish, etc.) nights in the dining room through the week with some enjoyable live music. The Villablanca also has the Macuil restaurant and bar at Santa Cruz beach at the far end closest to the cruise ship pier. There is small area for umbrellas and loungers on the beach, as well as the bar and restaurant. The food and drinks were tasty as well. We appreciated having a small fridge in our room, as well as a table and chairs. We couldn’t really use our balcony as it was small and faced the street, but we were not bothered by street noise at night. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay!

We visited Huatulco in February 2024, stayed at Hotel Villa blanca and being our 1st time to Huatulco not sure what to expect, WOW 😧 were we surprised,what a wonderful beach destination,the hotel was very charming, rooms very large and clean,if you expect new and modern this is not the place for you..These rooms are colonial and rustic.. Excellent breakfast with something different every day in the Mexican food area.Loved the cochinita pibil dish and the chilaquiles,all food was excellent. The mimosas and green juice at breakfast,the sweet buns,all perfect.. Many repeat guests, mostly Canadian,very nice pool , refillable water stations is a great idea more hotels should implement this practice. Miss the wonderful walks to numerous bird sounds in the morning!! We would absolutely return to this area and possibly hotel if available!!? Muchisimas Gracias,fueren Todos muy amables!!

This was my 4th time at the Villablanca! I've stayed at 2 other properties here, and this is definitely my favorite! I came alone this trip, and it was hands down my favorite trip so far. Every single person who works here is so nice and helpful. Traveling solo being a women can be a little scary, but I felt safe here 100% of the time. I plan on returning as soon as flights start back again (October). Location is also perfect! The beach is a 5 minute walk, groceries next door, and all the restaurants and shopping are a quick / cheap 5 min taxi! Be sure to take a trip to Playa San Augustine if you're into snorkeling :)
