Every now and then in life, you have an awe inspiring life “must do” experience. This was one of them. I was regularly exclaiming how perfect the time was at Bruce’s charming Paddler’s Inn. The Cliffside lodge was cozy and Nikki the resident housekeeper is a stickler for cleanliness and providing comfort. The place was spotless. Super cute, cottage-like and adorable. I loved the propane lamps! And, everything functioned, except the terrible wifi which is just what the nature location ordered: to be cut off regularly but still be in touch if you absolutely needed to! I had the most incredible therapeutic massage with Bruce as well, who is a master practitioner and shifter of energy and awareness. Our paddling days were superb and Bruce and Nikki advised us on routes and excursions. We loved it so much we extended our trip by two more days. Thank goodness he had room at the Inn as he is booked solid with keen groups and loyal customers. All in all an absolutely amazing trip. Will definitely be planning a return trip.

We spent a few days camping and kayaking from Telegraph Cove and our last 3 nights enjoying the spectacular oasis that bruce and Josee have created.
The cabins are spotless and totally outfitted for a foodie!Every utensil, pot, pan and a sparkling clean BBQ to boot! The beds were fresh and comfy and the property is charming. We enjoyed picking fresh Kale from our deck pots while we watched amazing sunsets and coastal beauty. The trails on the property are well maintained and the entire experience radiates from people that really care about you and the environment...we will definitely return!

You need to see this place to believe it! Whether you're a paddler or not, it's a total gem. But if you are a paddler, Paddlers Inn is an unparalleled place to base your trip out of. It's deeper into the Broughton's than you are likely to get on your own, so you're a bit more isolated compared to leaving from Telegraph Cove.

It's difficult to do justice with words to just how comfortable this place is. Comprised of a series of float-homes and terra firma homes, the accommodation is incredibly comfortable and clean - more so than many hotels I've stayed at.

My wife and I, along with our 4 kids and a friend based a five day trip out of Paddlers Inn. We all stayed in the Floathouse Lodge and had plenty of room. The kitchen is remarkably complete (full fridge, range, oven). The main living/dining area has tons of room for a large group as well as for organizing your gear and food. And did I mention how clean it is?!

Bruce picked us up and boated us in. We brought two of our own kayaks and rented a couple of doubles and a single from Paddlers Inn. The boat trips were amazing unto themselves! We spent two nights at Paddlers Inn and then headed out for 3 nights in the Broughtons. Bruce and Josee have a deep knowledge of the area, so they were able to give us invaluable tips on key things like campsite locations, water availability, etc. We returned on our final day, and Bruce took us back.

We can't say enough about this place. If you want a unique get-away on the BC Coast with all the comforts of home (and I'm not exaggerating on this point), this is the place to go. We'll be pack for sure.

Thank you for your appreciation and wonderful review of our facility. It's such a pleasure when BC folks discover how beautiful and accessible their back-yard is. It's nice to see such a solid and capable family as yours, spending time together in nature, and we sure look forward to having you all visit again. All the best until then.

Having recently returned from our magical five day kayaking adventure at the Broughton Archipelago Paddlers Inn, we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to Bruce and Josee McMorran for sharing their pristine piece of paradise with us.

Bruce and Josee have created, over time, an impressively low impact, sustainable, eco-adventure centre. The dock has been constructed with launching and retrieval of kayaks in mind as well as other boats and is complete with facilities for the storage of kayaks and gear as well as a toilet, sauna and group relaxation area with hanging chairs, couches and a propane fire pit. Fresh water is provided for spraying off kayaks and gear.

The accommodations are set up to be comfortable for a couple people or several. There is limited electricity available for charging camera batteries and other devices. But no internet unless you bring your own satellite receiver. A nice buffer actually.

There are beautiful planters and hanging baskets throughout the buildings and area. The setting and feel is not only in harmony with nature, but part of it.

A lot of subtle attention to detail and guest experience is evident throughout. For example the rope hand holds Bruce has installed along some steep areas on the trail to the lake.

Bruce and Josee are great hosts, there when you need them and not when you don’t.

We stayed in the Shoreline Cabin and enjoyed many hours on the deck watching the wildlife, water, land and sky all around us.

Binoculars and long lenses are essential if you have them.

During our stay, we explored Viner Sound, Shoal Harbour, the Benjamin Islands and the Burdwood Islands. And we enjoyed a nice stretch of weather with lots of sun, a bit of cloud and very little wind.

Whether you’re looking for Bruce’s water taxi to give you a head start on your Broughton kayak camping adventure or you would like to enjoy some creature comforts between day trips, the Paddler’s Inn is a perfect choice.

A true getaway to another world! Our Shoreline Cabin was large and private, built from locally milled cedar, with an unforgettable deck that overlooks the Broughtons and a bay frequented by kingfishers and eagles. Cabin is well laid out with the same superb view, large comfortable cedar framed beds, kitchen with everything and a large dining area. It's a great set up for longer kayak trippers, with a capacious indoor drying rack and a covered gear area on the side of the large deck, but it's big and comfy enough to invite relaxation for day paddlers or deck loungers. We enjoyed short paddles in the area, one to a paddle in museum, and the hiking trails near the Paddlers Inn let us get out in the rainforest we could only see from the kayaks.
With propane lights and hot water and solar electric there was no generator noise or fumes and we enjoyed a deep sense of quiet.
Paddlers Inn radiates a sense of love and care for the land that is just not found in a standard resort. If you have an opportunity to come here, take it.

Lovely accommodation in the Shoreline Cabin, hot showers, perfect amenities for any cook to create gourmet meals on the gas stove or BBQ.
We found after paddling on sunny days the local forest walks were a welcome treat on our last rainy afternoon. Bear prints, chanterelles and a fresh water lake!

We stayed at the Cliffside cabin which is on a floating dock, each of the cabins is different but they are all full of charm. Everything was immaculate and extremely comfortable. Lots of attention to detail including potted herbs growing outside the cabin which we could use for salads etc. Our cabin had lots of windows and they all had a good view, the view from our deck across the bay was delightful. The kayaks we rented were in good condition and the area is very beautiful with lots to explore, I just wish we had more time.

The boat trip to get here was a little uncomfortable and noisy, but for me it was worth it because the destination makes it all worthwhile and the remoteness of the location is part of its appeal. Just remember to bring the provisions you might need because while there is a store in nearby Echo Bay I'm told it doesn't have a lot, we didn't need to go there so I don't have first hand knowledge of that.

This is one place that I am definitely coming back to.

This is a special place. Perfect for those who want a remote, natural setting. The area is stunning. The accommodations are well planned, well stocked and very comfortable. The outdoor gathering fire pit area is a great space as well. Allows any of the travelers to meet and share stories from the day. Bruce is very knowledgeable, friendly and hospitable. This is his home year round and you can tell he is committed to keeping the area's natural surroundings as healthy as possible.

Book for a day longer than you are thinking. We tried to extend our stay but alas our room was ready for a new guest!
Bruce was a great host and his kindness is appreciated. On the boat ride in, he slowed to show us a raft of otters, which was spectacular.
His knowledge is impressive and he is able to suggest areas to explore based on your skills and experience. Remember to snap a photo of the sign in the social area- it provides excellent info on short and longer kayaking trips in the area. The social area with fire table and chair swings was an added bonus.
We saw whales, a ton of seals and heard a grizzly warn us from the brush (we were ok not to see it).
The cabin was clean and comfortable, the sauna a perfect way to unwind. It was so quiet without the noise of any generators or the constant pinging of phones. The photos make the cabins seem closer than they actually are, privacy is a must for me and we could not hear the guests next to us. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out to optimize the views without losing privacy.
No cell service in the area but Maps still showed our position everywhere we travelled and helped us to explore with greater comfort.
Thank you Bruce and Megan!

This is my second time staying at the Paddler’s Inn (this time in the Floathouse), and once again I was blown away by the unique setting, stunning scenery, and level of professionalism/organization, which is what made me want to come back in the first place! My husband and I came with two friends for four days of day paddling. We loved exploring the surrounding island groups and Echo Bay, as well as swimming in the lake near the Inn and relaxing on the dock for evening dinners and stargazing. We need more eco-conscious operators like this, and I highly recommend Paddler’s Inn not just for that but because it is truly unique. A must-stay.

How do you get to Peddler's Inn? What meals are available?
Answer from Bruce M

Most people drive to Telegraph Cove or fly to Port Hardy and then we transport folks from there to our lodge location. All of our accommodations have well equipped kitchens for you to prepare your own meals. Some times catered dinners are available depending on # of people and scheduling considerations. I am happy to assist you with any trip planning questions that you may have. Bruce. Ph 250-230-0088
