A truly ‘wilderness in comfort’ experience. One of few places that were open for kayaking in May as it’s so early in the season. Weather was calm and some great day paddles easily accessed from your doorstep. Kayaks we rented were stable and well maintained with all the safety equipment . Bruce was a great host with good communication . Our cabin was extremely clean ,comfy and well stocked with kitchen utensils ,comfy beds and a great wood heater. Exactly the stunningly beautiful ,rustic and wild place I was hoping it would be! Thank you Meg

Every now and then in life, you have an awe inspiring life “must do” experience. This was one of them. I was regularly exclaiming how perfect the time was at Bruce’s charming Paddler’s Inn. The Cliffside lodge was cozy and Nikki the resident housekeeper is a stickler for cleanliness and providing comfort. The place was spotless. Super cute, cottage-like and adorable. I loved the propane lamps! And, everything functioned, except the terrible wifi which is just what the nature location ordered: to be cut off regularly but still be in touch if you absolutely needed to! I had the most incredible therapeutic massage with Bruce as well, who is a master practitioner and shifter of energy and awareness. Our paddling days were superb and Bruce and Nikki advised us on routes and excursions. We loved it so much we extended our trip by two more days. Thank goodness he had room at the Inn as he is booked solid with keen groups and loyal customers. All in all an absolutely amazing trip. Will definitely be planning a return trip.…

A true getaway to another world! Our Shoreline Cabin was large and private, built from locally milled cedar, with an unforgettable deck that overlooks the Broughtons and a bay frequented by kingfishers and eagles. Cabin is well laid out with the same superb view, large comfortable cedar framed beds, kitchen with everything and a large dining area. It's a great set up for longer kayak trippers, with a capacious indoor drying rack and a covered gear area on the side of the large deck, but it's big and comfy enough to invite relaxation for day paddlers or deck loungers. We enjoyed short paddles in the area, one to a paddle in museum, and the hiking trails near the Paddlers Inn let us get out in the rainforest we could only see from the kayaks. With propane lights and hot water and solar electric there was no generator noise or fumes and we enjoyed a deep sense of quiet. Paddlers Inn radiates a sense of love and care for the land that is just not found in a standard resort. If you have an opportunity to come here, take it.…

Could not have been more pleased with our 7-night visit to Paddler’s Inn! Our Cliffside Cabin on floats was small, rustic yet very comfortable with excellent beds, a well-appointed kitchen with all you need to cook, bake, or bbq, great views, and a wonderful wrap-around deck space right on the water. With most of the facility built on historic floats, Paddlers Inn is about as authentic an experience as you can get, giving you a real sense of the rugged environment of the Broughton Archipelago and an opportunity to experience a bit of what local life was, and is still like for many local ‘mainlanders’. There is no wifi here, no electricity on the floats, and cell service is sketchy and slow, and it was great to just put the phones mostly away for a while except for taking photos! Opportunities for paddle exploration are many and varied, from short mostly sheltered local tours to full-day adventures. The touring scenery is stunning, wildlife abounds and we saw Orca and Humpback whales, black bears, seals, sea lions and sea otters, bald eagles, great blue heron and more - not just once but multiple times. More than just a commercial lodge, Paddler’s Inn is a lifestyle and a passion for owner, manager, boat driver, and guide Bruce McMorran. The atmosphere around the Inn is relaxed and indeed we spent a lot of time just kicking back and relaxing either on our little private deck or around the fire table under the shared guest canopy trading stories and getting to know the other guests. Was it great? Well, we were sitting around only halfway through our stay already scheming about making a booking for next summer so yes, it was a great place. If an authentic, rustic, rugged, and yet relaxed adventure is on your mind, put Paddler’s Inn on your list!…

This year we found ourselves migrating back to the Broughton Archipelago for our kayaking adventures. We don’t usually revisit travel locations (as there are so many new places to discover) but we can’t stay away. The Paddlers Inn offers an excellent location to explore many of the best places in the archipelago. Bruce’s cabins are rustic but very clean, well maintained and have incredibly well equipped kitchens. His transport to and from was safe and reliable. Bruce has a lifetime of experiences in the area so I recommend you use him as a resource for planning your trip.

If I could give ten stars I would! We came up by water taxi with Bruce for eight days of paddling and were absolutely enchanted. Bruce was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - he gave us invaluable advice on route planning and things to see in the region. The setting of Paddlers Inn is magical. Bruce's obvious deep connection to this stunningly rugged, wild and beautiful area was an inspiration to our family and we felt lucky to be immersed in this wilderness, even if only for a short time. We're already dreaming of a return trip...!

Spent a perfect 4 days in the Broughtons hosted by Bruce at Paddlers Inn. Family of 4 stayed in the beautiful Shoreline cabin with excellent amenities, amazing views and sunsets off the deck, great rental kayaks and perfect weather. Bruce was a great host and gave us detailed charts and daily advice as to where to paddle depending on tides and wind, we had lots of privacy at the cabin, good cooking facilities and such a relaxing time. Many thanks - would love to return! Sue/ Courtenay BC

This is a special place. Perfect for those who want a remote, natural setting. The area is stunning. The accommodations are well planned, well stocked and very comfortable. The outdoor gathering fire pit area is a great space as well. Allows any of the travelers to meet and share stories from the day. Bruce is very knowledgeable, friendly and hospitable. This is his home year round and you can tell he is committed to keeping the area's natural surroundings as healthy as possible.

This is definitely the place to turn off all the noise of our modern life and steep yourself into the exceptional beauty and tranquillity of this still unspoiled gift of nature. The accommodations in our Cliffside cabin were perfect, kitchen well-equipped, comfy bed and bath. We enjoyed paddles to Echo Bay, Fox Islands, but most of all Burdwood Islands with its lovely beach and hike around the (?) island. Recommend staying at least 7 days, our 5 felt too short. Bruce is a great host and knowledgeable in answering any Q's about the area. Also recommend Devil's Bath Pub in Port McNeil.
