My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway near Algonquin Park. Given the fact everything near Algonquin park was completely booked, we decided to come and enjoy a stay at the Algonquin lakeside inn motel.
After all, the advertisement on booking.com said it had canoes available as well as other water equipment and a nice beach. The host also said there was a restaurant on the premises, bbq facilities and canoes and kayaks(at an extra charge) as well as picnic tables we could use.
Luckily I asked lots of questions about the place and, I was informed this place did not have coffee maker:so we brought our own.

Upon arrival we discovered there were no canoes, only some kayak we could use (at an extra cost of $20 every two hours) and furthermore, the location is extremely run down in terms of exterior maintenance.

The swing seat out side our unit was broken and should collapse at any time. There is only one barbeque for everyone to use: Even the host didn’t know which barbeque belong to them.
To be safe you should bring your own.

There was no restaurant that was open at this time, or if it is open, I never saw it open while I was here. (although the host did say over the phone several times that the restaurant was operational and serve breakfast lunch and dinner) and given the fact this place is extremely run down, who would want to eat there anyways?

Luckily, we came prepared for camping. (with food and all,) if you come prepared for camping, you too should do well at this location) For the most part bring your own sleeping bag and small stove, cutlery dishes and other items you might need, as well as camp table, and camp chairs: this should provide you with a fairly decent stay. Furthermore, if you want to go canoeing make sure you rent your own canoe before coming here and bring it with you. Algonquin outfitters say they will not deliver to this location, only locations in the park. With all these items in tow, you will find this place comfortable.

Furthermore, the room provides you with a hot shower and is in pretty good shape. Our room seemed to be newly renovated so that is definitely a plus. The bathroom is the best part of the whole unit as it seems to be completely renovated inside.
Also, you should definitely pick a water front facing room and you will get lots of sunshine in the afternoon.
I feel bad giving such a poor rating, however the place is so rundown that if you come expecting something else you will definitely be disappointed!
With a bit of paint, and some tender loving care as well as more water equipment for people to use at no cost, Barbeques for each unit, and better maintenance of the beach and exterior grounds this place could be quite a gem. After all,It is very conveniently located beside the West gate of Algonquin Park and it is a waterfront location, facing Oxtongue lake.

I stayed here because I had no choice. It was late and minus 25 and I was seriously tired and about to drop.

The last time I stayed here was under the same circumstances with a friend. They charged $200 for a room during low season with two kings. Every other 4 star motel charges under $150 for better services and quality.

Anyway my last stay was just last night. I asked the man at the front desk if the room had a television because the last time I was there there was a television but without service. He said yes there was a television.

I get to my room and check for the television and there’s one but just not plugged in and not connected to service. I mean what the heck is wrong with these guys? I tried calling front desk but the phone wasn’t working so I lucked out and saw the manager outside and posted out that the television wasn’t working. He was kind enough to move the cabinet to where the outlet was and it worked. Just didn’t have the remote to go with the television and they probably only subscribed to paid commercials versus actual television shows or news. Just Dr. Ho channels. Odd.

Enough about televisions. The room was clean enough but honestly I didn’t get a good feeling about it’s real cleanliness. There was no fridge but the manger was kind enough to bring his in to my room.

The lighting is absolutely disgusting - the kind you’d find in an auto shop. The kind that guarantees headaches and possible nosebleeds maybe even cancer. The bed was okay but the pillows felt like cushions. Suffice it to say the sleep was better in the car.

I keep reading that breakfast is included but don’t count on it. They can’t cook except for themselves. The people that run and manage the place are not locals and most of them occupy the rooms meant for guests.

All in all this place is great for emergencies when you’re too tired to go the extra mile and find a better and cheaper place off highway 11 in Huntsville.

I’d give them a 1 out of five but they’re trying. Honestly they are. They’re just outta their element.

My friend and I stayed here with her daughter in the 2 bedroom cabin for the weekend. Based on previous reviews, we had low expectations and brought our own cutlery, dishes, bedding etc. The property is a bit rundown but our experience was positive overall. Our cabin was very clean and came equipped with everything including dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, coffee maker, microwave, fridge and stove. We definitely overpacked because a lot of things were provided, even dish soap. We didn't have a TV but we didn't care because we were busy outside using the canoe and kayaks, swimming etc. Our cabin faced the property and the lake, but it wasn't right on the water. A few things to improve: clean up the beach every day, fix broken swings, ripped screens on the porch, monitor guests as there was a group of guys partying all night and playing loud music (it kept my friend's young daughter up) and possibly make campfires for guests instead of charging for wood.
People in previous reviews complained about staff but I think it was perhaps a cultural difference, because I found the staff to be fine when I spoke to them politely. There may be a bit of a language barrier. Overall, I think that if you manage your expectations and come prepared, you will have a good experience here.

This place was worse than terrible. After being shown into our room, we were quietly told the water was unsafe for drinking. No bottled water was offered or even available for sale on the premises. This was not disclosed to us at the time of booking, and in itself should be reason to shut the place down. They claimed the water had been passed for bathing, but it was yellow and stank. Nothing about the place persuaded us that it was safe. Electrical wires were hanging down outside the main building, the area beside reception was littered with dirty dishes and half eaten food, garbage was strewn over the gravel beside the water outside our room. The room itself had been tidied and the bed made up with clean sheets. There may be some effort being made to make improvements but this does not seem to be happening at the owner-manager level: they refused to budge from their policy of no refunds even though they were not able to offer basic safety standard of potable water. We didn't stay: fortunately we had a place we could stay within a four hour drive. Do Not Book This Place.

The guy at the front desk was very unfriendly and acted as if we were inconveniencing him by checking in. The cleanliness of the room was suspect, especially the bathroom and the carpet was soiled. There was no coffee or even a bottle of water in the room. A man and his wife checked in the same day as we, and they complained to us that their room was filthy, had not been cleaned after the last guests checked out, and there was what looked like some blood on their fridge. We did not eat in the restaurant, but the menu items they offered seemed very overpriced. The whole property just looks like the owners and staff do not give a damn. Glad we were only there for one night!

We decided to book a week here based on the pictures of a lakefront room and got taken! The room was dirty and the sheets had stains on them. The place was a health and safety hazard with broken doors and wholes in the deck you could fall through. We told the manager and he said he’d fix it. We arrived during a major storm and with no where else to go, stayed the night. We went for breakfast the next morning and came back and nothing was fixed. We decided to check out and ask for a refund. The manager and owner (talked to him on the phone) refused to give us our money back. They offered us a different room. I didn’t feel comfortable there since the place was in such a bad state of disrepair. The management/owners do not know the first thing about customer service. Do not get ripped off like we did!
If I could give a lower rating I would!

A lot has changed since my last visit to Algonquin Lakeside Inn. It seems to have new ownership who are trying to improve things. There was good water pressure, hot water, new drapes and the WI Fi actually worked and was stable. Rooms have been painted (baseboards and doors to go) . It was clean and comfortable (not luxurious) and I'd stay again.

I know covid has slowed everyone down from doing anything, but this place appears to be severely under maintained. In all fairness, it looks like they have fixed up the rooms, at least the one I was in, but I had to walk under leaking eavestroughs, and through wires hanging in my face, the door shock hanging off, all telltale signs that the maintenance guy doesn't exist. On top of that, this place does have a restaurant, though you can only do takeout and order ahead, but the prices were about double what they should have been. Who wants to pay 35 bucks for a plate of noodles and sauce? Only the desparate will. I suppose that's what they are counting on. I stayed at three motels during my trip and this one was the most poorly maintained while demanding the highest price. Almost 200 bucks for a single room for one night. I used to stay at the Hilton for that, and at least there the door shock worked. Perhaps I don't know the whole story, maybe it's under new management and they are working on it, if so, then they better get working!

Location is good. 15 min drive to the west gates of Algonquin Park, 20min drive to the Canoe Lake Portage Store. Bathroom door had black marks on it and there was black mold on the outside of the shower, which was pretty dated. The air in the room was semi-stale because water kept leaking out of the shower. The chairs inside provided for the table had dust on the back that wasn't cleaned. There was bird droppings on the deck when we arrived and that was never cleaned for the 3 nights that we stayed there. The muskoka chairs provided for the guests outside were mostly dirty. There was an AC switch on the wall but pretty sure it didn't do anything because we couldn't find a vent for the cold air to come out of in the room. A padded chair that belonged to our room was left outside when we arrived, where it wasn't supposed to be. Pretty sure there wasn't a cleaning service. This place is simply just a place to sleep, don't expect anything nice.

We stayed at the Algonquin Lakeside Inn in mid-September 2022 for one night. It was the only game in town for a single Friday night, when I searched a few days ahead (not surprisingly). I saw a number of quite bad reviews, so was worried about what it would be like. In short, the bad reviews were correct as far as the outside went. However fortunately the inside was surprisingly decent, very clean, though a minimalist layout (one chair, no table). The bathroom was fine, the TV worked, the WiFi was fine, the bed was also OK. The grounds on the other hand were exceptionally bad – nothing appealing about it at all. The barbecues didn’t work, and a couple looked as though someone had barfed in them. The plastic outdoor chairs were so flimsy I thought they might break just by sitting in them. Weeds everywhere. Obviously, the owners have decided to just let the grounds go back to nature. The "restaurant" also looked bad, though we didn't try it. The place might be acceptable if it charged $100 a night or less, but it was almost as expensive as other nearby lodges that looked infinitely nicer.
