I stayed for one night while I was visiting Algonquin park and doing some hiking. I stayed in #10 in front of the lake. The bathroom was clean, the room smelled very fresh and clean. The sheets and towels were clean, the fridge and microwave were clean. I found the bed to be comfortable to sleep on. The room was nothing fancy and was missing some things like a coffee pot, alarm clock...minor things. I just grabbed a coffee in Dwight which isn’t too far away. I loved being right in front of the lake and I found the atmosphere very peaceful and relaxing. There are definitely some things that could be improved in the room, but in spite of some of those minor things I really liked it and will probably stay again. It isn’t luxury but I found it cozy and just perfect.

I stayed here because I had no choice. It was late and minus 25 and I was seriously tired and about to drop. The last time I stayed here was under the same circumstances with a friend. They charged $200 for a room during low season with two kings. Every other 4 star motel charges under $150 for better services and quality. Anyway my last stay was just last night. I asked the man at the front desk if the room had a television because the last time I was there there was a television but without service. He said yes there was a television. I get to my room and check for the television and there’s one but just not plugged in and not connected to service. I mean what the heck is wrong with these guys? I tried calling front desk but the phone wasn’t working so I lucked out and saw the manager outside and posted out that the television wasn’t working. He was kind enough to move the cabinet to where the outlet was and it worked. Just didn’t have the remote to go with the television and they probably only subscribed to paid commercials versus actual television shows or news. Just Dr. Ho channels. Odd. Enough about televisions. The room was clean enough but honestly I didn’t get a good feeling about it’s real cleanliness. There was no fridge but the manger was kind enough to bring his in to my room. The lighting is absolutely disgusting - the kind you’d find in an auto shop. The kind that guarantees headaches and possible nosebleeds maybe even cancer. The bed was okay but the pillows felt like cushions. Suffice it to say the sleep was better in the car. I keep reading that breakfast is included but don’t count on it. They can’t cook except for themselves. The people that run and manage the place are not locals and most of them occupy the rooms meant for guests. All in all this place is great for emergencies when you’re too tired to go the extra mile and find a better and cheaper place off highway 11 in Huntsville. I’d give them a 1 out of five but they’re trying. Honestly they are. They’re just outta their element.

The guy at the front desk was very unfriendly and acted as if we were inconveniencing him by checking in. The cleanliness of the room was suspect, especially the bathroom and the carpet was soiled. There was no coffee or even a bottle of water in the room. A man and his wife checked in the same day as we, and they complained to us that their room was filthy, had not been cleaned after the last guests checked out, and there was what looked like some blood on their fridge. We did not eat in the restaurant, but the menu items they offered seemed very overpriced. The whole property just looks like the owners and staff do not give a damn. Glad we were only there for one night!

Cottage was way overpriced, advertising photos very deceiving. Entered the cottage to see hairs in the bath tub and half a roll of toilet paper. Carpets were soiled , no soap for dishes, short of kitchen supplies and short of towels. Old TV didn't work and the owners response was "sorry"( flat screen TV was advertised). Suspect gas leak from stove caused headache and nausea. $450 for one night, one would expect a whole lot better.

Trying to get in contact with this accomodation is a nightmare. I say I have called their direct number around no joke 30 different times over the past 4 days attempting to cancel my reservation as we can no longer attend due to a personal emergency. I also emailed many times and no one responds. On the odd chance you finally reach someone at the end of the phone the staff at the hotel have no idea what's going on or information about reservation etc. I had asked to cancel my reservation due to a personal emergency and gave over 72 hours notice before I was meant to arrive and the person on the front desk even informed me that cancelling before 24 hours of check in warrants a full refund. Great! He asked if he can call me back to confirm the details of the refund and I said that was ok, hours passed and no one called so I tried to call again to ensure that the booking was in fact cancelled. When I call (around 4 or 5 times before getting through) the same guy picks up and says that he has made a mistake and that because I am only calling today (one day before check in) I am not entitled to a refund. I CALLED YOU THREE DAYS BEFORE CHECK IN AND SENT MULTIPLE EMAILS ASKING TO CANCEL AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. SO now I am still waiting to see if my card gets charged and posting this review is not something I tend to do very often but it is a last resort in the hope of warning others about booking here at Algonquin Inn !! These guys are not accomodating and are not willing to give any money back despite notice!! I will update this post if I hear from the staff again but I am not hopeful....
